  • In this video we are solving a common issue of the Yamaha Tenere 700, the jerky/snappy/choppy throttle. The fix does not eliminate the problem completely but does substantially improve it.
    Try it out for yourself and leave a comment down below if it worked for you!

    Get your bike ECU flashed, the bike runs butter smooth after this, you won't believe it till you feel it ;-)

      @@gravelroadslovenia also remove the airfilter snorkel and fit the filter kit from Throttle punks, the oem snorkel and filter really upset the fuel and air mixture for Euro 5 emission regulations, it's a different bike after the new filter and ECU flash, I also got the thermostat temperature changed to 95deg, beter than the standard 102deg, so on hot days the fans cuts in earlier.

      @@gravelroadslovenia I live in The Netherlands, though originally come from Scotland, the tune was done at Druijff Racing here in The Netherlands, it was done on a rolling road bank, took around 3 hrs to complete and cost €450, it's possible to send your ECU to Throttle punks for the flash and filter kit if you can't get the bike near a tuner locally.

    Correct me if I’m wrong: TBW (throttle by wire) = electronic type. The T7 employs a throttle by CABLE.

    I have to thank you for that. Was sceptical but adjusted it so that the cam is seated at closed throttle through the full steering range, plus a little slack. Great result, snatch all but eliminated. Not carburettor smooth but damn close.

    Thank you for posting this video, I had a really slack throttle cable on my new Tenere World Raid, I tightened it as per your video and the bike's throttle is so much smoother, no on off anymore. There is less room on the world Raid but it is still pretty easy.

    if your motorcycle jerks you should install fuel dongle. will improve the operation in the low RPM range enriching the mixture.

    i too have that issue with the mechanic. Every time I send for oil change they would check the air pressure adjust the chain slack. That's part of their service but I don't understand why they over tighten it way beyond what the manual says and the tire pressure instead of 29psi they pump up to 36psi 😮😮

    I made a similar video for my 701 which is pretty jerky too, especially having a single that big. Installed a fuel dongle which helped a lot, but you know what helped the most? Just riding the bike and getting used to it. Great video, enjoy your bike!

    • @gravelroadslovenia

      The dongle is something I have also heard of. Some opt for a whole new ECU which makes the bike a whole different beast. I will leave it like this for now though!

    The chain tension might be too tight now. The chain should not be pushed down all the time while messaering. It should only be pushed down once and then the messarument can happen. In the end you want to have arround 20mm play while the chain is under the most tenssion. This occours if the pivot point for the swing arm ind the wheel axle are aligned. This video show the process pretty well

    Read the manual ?¿

  • @muppdog390
    @muppdog390 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Have you read the manual properly? It does not say that the free play should be 0.3-0.5mm, in fact it says 3-5mm. That free play is there for your safety, has always been on all bikes.

    • @gravelroadslovenia
      @gravelroadslovenia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are correct, I have not noticed it was said wrong in the video, but what I meant was 3-5 mm as in the manual, thanks!
      About the amount of free play, it is true what you are saying. Having 7 mm in comparison to 3 mm of throttle play makes a very noticeable difference when riding, and as mentioned in the video and the user manual, some play should always be left in the throttle.
      Thanks for your concern! 😄

    The T7 is NOT 'throttle by wire'. Throttle by wire means electronic. The T7 is a cable throttle. Also the chain slack should be measured with the bike vertical, NOT on the side stand but on its wheels upright. Yes, it makes a difference.

    • @gravelroadslovenia
      @gravelroadslovenia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Apologies for the wording mistake in the video, cable throttle is what I meant. Thanks for the remark! 😄
      It is said that it should be measured on the side-stand in the manual… (1.26 min in video) I guess opinions vary here 😅
