My Best Kayak Mods Ever?

  • The jet engine kayak sounded cool, but it wasn't practical. The pontoons I've made in the past were neat looking and functional but this kayak doesn't need em. Even the live well I made once turned out to be more of a hassle then it was worth because I use artificial lures so often. Yup, this kayak with these new Marty touches is shaping up to be one of my best fishing machines. It's extra exciting because some of these ideas are going to be coming straight from the factory soon. I haven't seen this new creation from Pelican yet, but I'm told it'll be available around springtime. It truly is an honor to have the biggest kayak manufacturer in the world listening to the needs and desires of someone like myself. I am the customer. I am not the best fisherman in the world, but I live on a limited budget. I love the water. And I have years under my belt, searching for what's needed to get a man out of the house and off on an adventure. Not just dreaming about it, but doing it. A lightweight, stable and maneuverable kayak that'll get you chasing redfish in just inches of water is right up my alley. It's no wonder I've gravitated towards Pelican's kayaks and small boats. They've been my ticket to a life I enjoy. And if sharing that love gets other people out there to feel that joy, well, then, I am indeed a very lucky guy. Thank you, Pelican! And thank YOU for watching me tinker around all these years. Here's to many more years and main lines that don't break when you hook that fish!

My first time Kayaking and this Kayak held strong. th-cam.com/users/postUgkx4k5UrhC3v_Y4hIEaXLGvHcN5a5aBmZNB The water got pretty rough as a speed boat zipped by me, and the Kayak withstood it (I expected to be capsized). The Ores are very easy to put together, the pump worked beautifully. the seats are a bit hard to sit in after a while (I recommend sitting on the floor). after reading the reviews I was very scared it'd get a hole in it, the material is very strong and durable. The Air valve may need a small Phillips head screwdriver to adjust, other than that, it's well worth the money!(update)I've gone Kayaking in 3 Lakes and 2 rivers totaling about 40 miles. the kayak had two holes and they patched easily and no other problems can't wait for kayaking season this year!

My my how you have grown from a few hundred..I haven't watched in a long while Sir. Life got in the way..Sold my beloved beast 14 foot yak to a sweet young man ..sold my 10 ft kayak to make way for hubbys medical equipment..I'm land locked for now but dream when I can find a nurse to watch my beloved for a day to feed my soul with salt water. So good to see you in your element.Keep living your dreams..You so deserve all the sweetness life has to offer.🎣

Me too. Watching his and other videos gave me confidence to drill holes and cut large openings. I’m on my second kayak, just got it, a Pelican this time (Woo Hoo!). The first kayak I had was a Future Beach. My wife had one also. I cut all kinds of holes in them, dropped in a hatch, relocated a hatch, fabricated a base for a rod holder, repositioned existing rod holders, and finally, even cut the seats out of them and made sit on top seats work for sit inside models. I really enjoyed those yaks, but now we’ve moved on to sit on top models. Let the mods begin!

When you were working on that standing platform and using an old pelican seat for parts I was thinking that was going to be a pelican design. Or even some kind of seat mod you can upgrade to. But Pelican should definitely come out with a limited run of Zoffinger kayaks that you design and do it every year.

Marty, Idk what lies in your future for the great loop, I personally believe you truly shine when you do mods on kayaks and tiny boats, you seem far more relaxed. As for me I absolutely enjoy tinkering with my small boat and kayak, I purchased a larger boat and just hate it, things suddenly became difficult and expensive and sadly didn't feel rewarding anymore. I'm going to sell my larger boat and look at a larger kayak to do stuff to and get back to being happy 😊

Marty I loved this video...I really want Pelican to make a longer , version , and slightly wider, to achiever a higher overall weight capacity...for us bigger lads...love the flat deck design , but 3 inch sides to keep stuff in,..mount rod holders ...rails....a longer wider fishing version of the getaway...with a higher seat, that swivels...
