Kenpo is, a martial art that, although it has its origins in the Shaolin temple in China, we have come through Okinawa transmitted from there to Japan and from there to North America, through Hawaii. KENPO, we might call it roughly as the "Kung Fu" from the point of view of the Okinawans, ie, maintains its original fluidity but seeks greater combat effectiveness in the shortest possible time.
It is an innovative and flexible system in martial arts, individuality is clear when you reach a certain level of training in the art; at the same bases, principles and concepts, applied Kenpoísta it according to their morphology (body) and natural conditions.
Combines ancient fighting techniques with modern scientific principles, is a force that overwhelms the attacker; each movement creates a chain reaction, specified in the opponent, each reaction takes a new step.
Each block is a hit, each hit a block, each step leads to the next. This logical fluid action is the essence of Kenpo, like water going from one glass to another.
Their characteristics in general and without forgetting that each teacher decides what to teach and how he does it, like any martial art, seeks mastery of one's mind and body. Besides focusing on the physical aspect of it, that is, how the body reacts to an attack and how to respond most effectively.

Great videography to exemplify some awesome Kenpo! I need to up my training substantially to meet some of there skills.
I can't wait to hit the dojo and do some kata's, this video really inspired me to work on my form!

Esto en concreto es kenpo karate (kenpo americano) lo identificamos por el color del kimono.
Negro: kenpo hawaillano (americano)/ kenpo karate/kenpo chino
Blanco: kenpo japonés, shojinri kenpo etc...

Southern style Shaolin Kung Fu temple is it's original birth place . Before it was labeled Kenpo it's original name is in the Chinese language refer to as Chaun Fa.

christian, el kenpo americano no sirve, mejor para complementar BJJ entrena boxeo o kickboxing. algo con contacto real y golpes reales. saludos
El kenpo de ed parker si sirve, se entrenan golpes reales, golpes que van al cuello, genital y ojos, no golpes de competición como en el kickboxing. Esa estúpida mentalidad de " entrena boxeo para manos, taekwondo para piernas y jiujitsu para suelo y seras el arma humana de destrucción masiva", es lamentablemente impulsa por las películas de acción de hollywood, si fuese eso cierto, las mma serian el mejor arte marcial y sus practicantes serian las bestias de lucha mas poderosos de planeta y blabla...
Jaja, entre artistas marciales de verdad, el kenpo es visto como un chiste. no sirve para nada y fue creado por un estafador que no era cinturon negro en nada, Ed parker es el L Ron Hubbard de las artes marciales.
pero bueno, si te hace feliz, practicalo y los movimientos fantasiosos al cuello y genitales. saludos

Yo he comprobado y en mas de una ves como el kenpo karate es funcional en la calle si se emplea de la manera apropiada. Lógicamente ninguna técnica de kenpo, así como la de ningún arte mar cial o sistema de defensa, te funcionara si la realizas en su FASE IDEAL, con ataques "zombies" y pies en posición correcta con angulo de 45° y blabla... con el tiempo y practica se llega a la fase "que pasa si..?" donde se rompen los esquemas y perfeccionas tu kenpo, se aplica el famoso BE WEATHER de bruce lee.
Ed Parker, creador del kenpo americano, quien ademas tenia el cinturon negro en Judo, experiencia en boxeo y peleas callejeras.
Ademas, como antecesor a la creación del kenpo moderno tenemos a Jame Mitose, fue maestro de Kosho Ryu Kempo.
Te lo digo yo, practicante del Kenpo Karate por ya casi 3 años con el grado de cinturón verde, fui también practicante de Taekwondo cinturón verde franja azul y practicante amateur de boxeo por 1 año.

en el campeonato, no es importante ganar, sino de participar, hacer amigos de otras artes marciales, disfrutar y llevarte bien con todos.
Ganar.. para eso se entrena todos los dias, para ganar... despues la amistad, porque todos respetan y quieren un amigo ganador..si quieres hacer amigos no participes de la competencia y ve a hacer vida social..

Si quieres hacer amigos, ve a clubes a socializar; mi filosofía siempre ha sido " entrenas para competir y compites para ganar"... y a manera de reflexión porque en el torneo de kenpo, no se ven las técnicas de kenpo aplicadas en los combates?, en los combates de kenpo yo si intentaba aplicar las técnicas de kenpo ya que para mi no tenía sentido estar practicando técnicas y no poder aplicarlas en un ambiente más "real", ahí es donde entendí que las técnicas que había aprendido sólo alcanzaría a aplicar cuando muuucho 3 golpe y salirme, esperar, cazar y volver a atacar 3 combinaciones y en clinch había que barrer o pelear en corto y lo empecé a combinar con wing chung y aikijutsu...

Kenpo is a war art, that is no ref, rules or ring. The only bad thing in this video is the defenders not dummying up properly to when there being hit.

They're not grade belts, but competition belts. One team/opponent wears red, the other blue..the judges then score red or blue.
