I love this sketch! And I really love to watch, as you mix the paint directly on the paper. You get such gorgeous, exuberant colour - it’s a feast for the eyes. Thank you!
I really like that the blue isn't too strong. It makes the other 2 colors, especially magenta, the focal point. Great video! I like going back and watching all your older videos!
A truly mesmerizing video. I love your triads. At first I was dubious about these colors together, but the art is fabulous. Your paper was interesting too. It added so much texture to the piece. Another great video. Thank you.
Recently saw a painting demo video where the artist mixed washes of gold(en) ochre and French ultramarine to gradate from warm light to cool shadow. Because both were heavily granulating they didn't mix per se and dried to granulation of ochre and blue. Great effect. Your mixes here remind me of this - not blends at the end so much but giving an impression of both colors. Thanks!
I really love watching your videos ^3^ it feels like im in a really interesting class and i like listening to you talk about painting. Great video as always ✨💜
Love the end result! This triad looks amazing, especially the Cobalt Blue Deep. I was hesitant to get it from Schmincke, but it looks wonderful here. Their French Ultramarine is great as well, rewets so easily. I'd just use Ruby Red instead of Magenta - is more reddish but is a very pretty hue. Very nice!
I love the paper you are using as well. I just checked on Amazon. for me, it's $100 for 5 sheets of 22x30 That seems like a lot to pay! I tend to use Bee Paper, as it's the most economical 100% cotton paper I can find.
DoodleDrawArt I checked it now it is less than 38 dollars for 5 sheets 22x30 inches which is great! Have you checked it through Teoh link in the description box ? Recheck it again.
Have you tried using Montblanc Permanent Black or Sailor nano Kiwa-guro as black inks for watercolor? I find that the Noodler’s X-feather and Black doesn’t dry fully on non-absorbent paper. I might also test Aurora Black for this purpose.
Teoh has a lot of videos with different inks, I don't remember all of them, but he did a tree recently with brown that didn't run when he painted over it so I bought a sample set of that type. I only had 2 of the colors run at all & they were so little it would not have bothered me, but I have only tried 1 scrap paper. It was De Atramentis Document ink and this video th-cam.com/video/V6f4GUc8SfE/w-d-xo.html . I also found where he has info on more ink www.parkablogs.com/node/11327
In Europe the price difference is pretty much the exact opposite. I wonder if people actually paint slightly different in different areas with different brands being more popular.
This combination turned out so beautiful. I have the Kremer Cobalt Blue Deep, so it's hard to justify buying the Schmincke version - but it looks so nice! I love granulation in my paints though, so I might just have to cave on this one. I know the Kremer is really quite nice granulation too, did you find you like this new one just as much?
Teoh, in the US, Schmincke are the most expensive watercolor on the market. God awful expensive. Other brands that are way more expensive in the US compared to other countries are Holbein, followed by Windsor & Newton. I would love to try Schmincke, but I can get 2 tubes of M Graham or even Daniel Smith, for the price of 1 Schmincke tube ☹️. I hear they’re wonderful, too. Double sad face ☹️☹️
You can look out for deals from Jackson's Art UK. I bought mine during a 20% discount, and it includes free global shipping for purchases above certain amount. bit.ly/jacksonsart-uk
@@ChristinaTodd1970 Right on! I really need to try out some M. Graham... I'm always hearing really good things about them. I'm in Arizona, so who knows what I'll find out here LOL!!
Sher bear here Teoh, do you find working with 100 percent cotton paper has better color saturation?. and do you always use them when doing your urban sketching? I think the cotton handmade paper seems nice buti have never used it yet,
The cotton paper has to be treated/sized properly to handle water. Such paper usually can hold water in a way for the colours to blend nicely. I bought the handmade paper just to try.
@@teohyc Just curious what ink you're using today. I'm still trying to figure out which ink will work with my M205. Unfortunately the Carbon Platinum Black clogs my pen.
3 inks can print a large variety of colours. But there will be some colours that are difficult to print. That's why there are printers with even more inks, like 6, 8 or more.
"I'm always on the lookout for good sales and discounts" You should check out Turner Colour Works watercolors, they are high quality professional watercolors that are *very* affordable. There are very few quality reviews out there, but from all accounts they are higher quality that Holbein (who sits right across the river from where they are located in Japan.) It would be awesome to see a review by you, I love your videos and respect your opinion more than any other watercolorist here on TH-cam.
@@teohyc I just placed an order for some myself, and even the Cadmium colors (which are typically the most expensive) were only 6.29 USD per 15 ml tube.
You're so lucky that Daniel Smith isn't as expensive for you D: I live in Germany, which is why Schmincke is the most affordable option for me. Daniel Smith on the other hand is really expensive and I can't find it any local stores, so I always have to order it online.
I detest Schmincke tubes--but I ADORE Schmincke paint. It has a "luminous" quality (for lack of a better descriptor) to it that I don't see in other brands. The rub is that DS has so many colors that other brands don't have...

More colors to add to my wish list! The orange on the building almost glows, really pretty. Another great limited palette, thanks.
I love schmincke’s pure yellow. And I really enjoy your limited palette reviews! Thank you!
Thanks so much for sharing this beautiful Schmincke combo. Really gorgeous art.

I Love Schmincke watercolor, so beautiful
This must be my favorite Limited Palette episode. The colors are all beautiful and vibrant, individually and when mixed!
I love the orange you were able to create. Schmincke is one of my favorite brands. Thanks for the video.
The colours really look luminous together.
The colors of that sketch are really beautiful! 👍 😃
That Magenta and yellow mix to make a really nice colour.
That cobalt deep is so beautiful! I just made my own from Kramer pigments and wow. Amazing! Gorgeous painting Teoh... thank you!
I love your draw and your channel 😍👏🏻❤️❤️❤️
Another great video. I’d love to see the Schminke on a different type of paper so I will be keeping an eye out when you use them again!
This was a very interesting video to watch, I love the end result!
You always come with grate colors❤❤❤
Wow nice work
OMG! Those colors are amazing! Just the tip I was needing for a limited palette...
Love it!!

Also, is there any correlation between the granulation and the tinting strength of the color?

De Atramentis Archive ink is good
That blue granulates so beautifully! But it doesn't seem to have a very high tinting strength
Yeah, you have to use more paint so this paint can get used used quite quickly, and get expensive. I use up Ultramarine quite quickly too.
Those are really vibrant!! If they were cheaper would you get a set? Or more single tubes?
I bought them during a 20% discount. Otherwise they are a bit expensive for me to buy and ship
Nice sketch Teoh, I definitely like those video. Do you ever use your uniball vision needle waterproof fade proof ink ?
I seldom use the Uniball because I'm trying to use up my fountain pen inks.
Teoh Yi Chie Excuse me, I would say the pens in this video : th-cam.com/video/_cuYDy6c3Ds/w-d-xo.html
