the ending also shows how well toonlinks bombs give off a smoke screen effect where its harder to see and or prepare for whats being done by the user.
A friend of mine had a Toon Link amiibo that would pretty much always pull out bombs so it was just hard to defeat because it would cover itself with the smoke from them. I don't think he even taught it to do that.

It's best to imagine that Shulk plays like a heavy (He's the heavy swordsman).
He can be quite inconsistent/difficult depending on both player's playstyle, but this is a normal thing for Shulk players, and they will not hesitate to make insane comebacks if you slip. So play against him as if your playing against a heavy (carefully and methodically)
Late game Shulk is when he’s by far the most dangerous. Any sort of patterns he’s caught on to can be heavily exploited leading to smash art deaths at 50
