LEGO Technic CAT D11T Bulldozer 42131 Revealed

  • The LEGO Technic CAT D11T Bulldozer 42131 is absolutely phenomenal! It uses two of the large angular motors to drive its brand new yellow tracks, which also have track tensioning! On top of that, this set contains a differential, as well as a gearbox, which is absolutely incredible! The LEGO Technic Cat D11 Bulldozer has a plethora of mechanical functions! I greatly appreciate that, the set has a strong focus on mechanisms!

I use to drive plant but spend my time fixing it theese days 2 things that bug me about this set is the blade tilt surly cat whoud not have let this licence pass when it's in correct. I'd certainly be modifying this set so it works as side tilt not back tilt think it be fairly simple to do from looking at pictures. Second thing that bugs me about this set is the main bottom idlers are higher up than the bottom rollers on real dozzers it's level accross bottom Aswell as bottom rollers are directly mounted on carriage no pivot. But again another easy mod from looks of it I too am excited to add to my collection of technic construction kit

My guess for why large angular motors were used is 1: They fit in well with the angle. 2: There is an output on both sides so the v 12 can be driven

I just think LEGO should produce more models like the 42082 and 42055 with functional machine build, which means working lots of functions with only one motor, matching the gearbox, and nice geometry.

Also, I don’t think that the track links are, or can be, any thinner than the old ones, they still have to fit on the same driving gears and they only look thinner due to their greater width.

Getting this on lunch day and I was lucky had a vip card I forgot about that got a lot on it plus the mini bat tumbler comes out on the same day and the points from the will got a long way to to the 40 dollars costs so it almost like a gift with perches for me lol but I do still a bit ripped of that we are expected to pay so so much for so so less but then the 2007 only had 4 motors and u had to ues to Receivers to power the functions as rare at this using a gearbox which I am a fan off lego technic gearboxes allows you to control all functions on one control But sadly you do still have to use one of the motors to switch functions so it still feels like after 15 years almost I'm not really comfortable any fervour and from the original In terms of electronics but in terms of design and use of the electronics is leaps and bounds For me and its a bit of A double-edge sought and one hand its leaps and bounds on the other hands it's still surrounded in that over priced stigma And lack of product for that money But I had to have A lot of nostalgia for the original 2007 model and what to get another one but can't afford the price for a sealed one so this will be the next best thing

  • @TheNazreth

For me it's a 'meh'. Besides it's sheer size I don't see a wow factor. Having the 8275 in the collection, it seems that the new one is: slower and weaker, bigger (that's not an advantage - makes it harder to play with and more difficult to store on shelf) and much more expenisve. I'll skip on that. 8043 still is for me the best RC technic model (all-round great: size, functions, playability, fun of building, pieces donor) and I think that at this point only a reincarnation of 8455 Back-hoe Loader, fully pneumatic with modern looks, could make me pay 400+ $ for a Technic set...

I'm not seeing what many others are seeing with this set. I was really excited for this set but I'm looking at it now and very disappointed with how it looks. As ALL other current technic sets the blue pins showing looks awful, and this time LEGO have thrown additional red pins in to make it even worse. I loved the black actuators, but they are sadly ruined by the dark grey mountings/holders on the end of them, all black would have looked way better as on the original vehicle. Random light grey connectors on the steps, why not black to match the rest of the steps. So many bits that just look unfinished. This model could have looked awesome but I find myself again let down by LEGO and their lack of attention to detail. Sadly this is yet another 2021 set I will be passing on.

Yes but the 42100 was also control+, was the same price, had slightly more pieces, and had an extra hub and 3 more motors

I can’t wait for this set, people can’t seem to realize that the 42110 had 100 of the same pieces that were useless to the actual model, minimizing the margin down to 150 pieces, sure less motors is a bummer but I’m sure this will be a much better and more challenging build than the 42110, seems much more dense and hopefully has less empty room than its predecessor
