Develop good dorsiflextion, look it up, learn proper deep squatting techniques, and keep your back straight in the vertical position when lifting. quick to learn, a lifetime to implement. You'll actually get a good workout instead of premature wear and tear, so it's beneficial instead of detrimental to your health
Remembered the effort we had to put in to get my anvil in place, we had to do some strap contraption just to get it into the trailer, partly because the old owner thought it would be a good idea to lacquer it in John Deere green.

Thank you for being the first inspiration for me making weapons and stuff and starting me down the path of shop classes, blacksmithing, and general fun back in 2015.
Good to see you stepping up your tooling, Eli, and you did a good job setting up the new anvil. If you’re going to be spending much time building blades, you’re probably going to want a decent 2” x 72” belt grinder. Lots of folks build their own, but I’d suggest taking a look at the AmeriBrade. They are workhorses, and you get a very capable machine at a very reasonable price, compared with the rest of the market.

Loving the set up so far, and don't beat yourself up; your tongs were much better than my first attempt. A little advise though. Use a lighter hammer and try different swinging techniques. Good technique with a lighter hammer is less tiresome and more metal is moved quicker.

Kens custom iron makes some great tong blanks. Also if your anvil is to loud siliconing it down has worked great for me

Would recommend not putting your thumb along the back of the handle, but around it instead. If you keep doing that it will give you carpal tunnel.

Look into welding extra metal to square up those edges on the anvil, makes it easier to have a square-ish edge for bending metal

Highly suggest putting a big magnet under the horn. It greatly reduces hypersonic tones which hurt your ear holes
