I saw him in concert a few years before he died. He was one of the best musicians and vocalists I have ever experienced. Did not get the attention he deserved. Mind blowing talent. I shared this on facebook and got NO likes. My friends suck!
Lost my mom to suicide in 2019 feb7. We had a complicated relationship, but i loved her and things got better towards the end. She never got to meet my fiancée, and she’ll never get to meet her grand kids. Never thought i’d lose her at 21. Needless to say this song is quite hard to get through.
I’ve always been a huge Sabbath fan. And a few years ago I lost my mother and I was in a really dark place. A friend of mine sent me this cover and the song took on another meaning to me. I can’t listen to it without crying my eyes out.
Ozzy Osbourne was 24 when he wrote this song and there is just something magical about old, weathered men taking the songs of young people and showing a whole new side of it. His whole face was crying.
Tate Thompson that’s where your wrong Ozzy wrote a two songs in Sabbath. He wrote the song Black Sabbath off the debut The Writ off the album sabotage.
I lost my mother when I was 18 and back then I didn't really understand what that meant to me and my life. It took me almost 15 years to process it and even now I wouldn't go that far and say I processed it. However, it changed me and my life. And at some point I woke up and it hit me... and I realized that some part of me went with her. Probably has a lot of fun wherever they are. I just wished I could have said goodbye to her.
His voice was so unique, you could truly hear the pain and anguish in his voice, incredible voice and that voice alone tells you that this man truly LIVED, for better or worse. Singing like that doesn't come from talent alone, that's real love and pain and loss experienced. Love to come back to Mr Bradley every now and then and this song never fails to put a lump in my throat. Listening here in 2022!
Still bawling when he says mama... Listened to this a few times tonight and it doesn't matter I am still crying. The whole thing was about his mom.... And rest in peace to Charles Bradley he died too young ❤️
I’ve been listening to this one for years. It’s impossible for me to listen to just once. I always play it at least 3-4 times in a row. I’m so glad that somebody reacted this this. Bonus that it was one of my favourite reaction channels 👍🏾👍🏾
I came across this song months after my mom passed and every time I hear this song, that guttural scream gets me, gives me chills. I've listened to it prob a hundred times, at least, by now.
So happy that you two reacted to this!!!! Its one ioff my favorite songs and its one that you can definitely feel the emotion in it while he sings and its just a great song to listen to in general
This song always reminds me of my mother who passed on new years day 2019. I love both versions but there is just something about this one that rips my heart out
My son showed me this cover. My first listen was tough because I have listened to that album straight through so many times that it is hard to reconcile the different feel in my head. But I have revisited it several times and have grown to enjoy it. This is the first time that I have seen him talk about his experience with the song though. This knowledge helps a bit too. Love watching you guys. Keep 'em coming!
I lost my grandma to cancer 4 years ago and I played this for my mom and we both shared a cry. Then just recently my wife lost her mom and remembering how much this song got me through I played it for her and her sister and nephew I'll just say it gave them comfort
Raw emotion changes the entire dynamic. I have loved this song since I heard it on the radio. But this here is my favorite version nothing in my opinion whatever surpass this.
@@seelenwinter6662 I think it's just right IMO. This is a wonderful soul version. And it exudes so much emotion. And while Ozzy's version was great too. This man made it his own. And that's how a cover should be done.
Every time I hear this vrs. of this song it makes me feel just a little more human. It's not good or bad just profound in a weird way. Like this song is the needle pulling me into the tapestry of what being human means and the pain and love that we get from humaning.
He clearly explained before performing the song that it's ALL about his mother. It has absolutely nothing to do with any other relationship. I don't see where is the confusion on this.
Fábio Caetano It also seems plain to me that, contrary to what Sori thinks,he is not welcoming change and sees it as something painful:Charles Bradley,at various times during the song, sings “I need help”,”somebody help me”,or words to that effect,as well as elicits screams of pain.

Oh, my lord this a accurate feeling i had when my grand mom past away 21 yrs ago this August. Even though i'm christian death still haunts me, not my own death i made peace with that, but losing my mom would break my heart into for real. I wouldn't wish that on anybody some songs are so damn power it makes you think! Love your family while their here not when they pass on.
i usually don't like covers with very few xceptions, however, for the meaning behind in both original lyrics and Bradley's version makes this song a stand out masterpiece!!! B. Sabbath's original song is amongst the saddest and beautiful songs ever written!!!
It's due to his singing style, but also he was learning this song while his mother was dying. So to say he is going "to" changes would make sense to the time when he was learning it. "There's going to be a change in my life" he also says. I think he was saying "going to" as opposed to "going through" because he knew what the years were going to bring after she passes. But, I don't know, just my analysis of it.
Sorry about your mom vin,may she rest in peace..im at the same point in my life ,where my mom is older ,had a heart attack, survived ,but decided to pick up a liquor habit and wont listen to me ,so I moved in and im basically watching her slowly die..
Speaking of simplistic, someone needs to get them to listen to the whole album of A Crow Looked at Me by Mount Eerie. It's something I never want to listen to alone again, but something every music lover should listen to once. I don't think just a song from the album would do it justice. Maybe release it in parts, and if people don't want it broken up, they can wait until they're all uploaded.
Please do more Primus preferably too many puppies or lacquer head for more interesting conversations. But Tommy the cat live would also be good with me

I thought Geezer wrote the lyrics and Iommi the piano parts
Ozzy didn’t write anything in BS, he barely contributed, same with his first four solo albums. Carried by others his whole career.
stuart austin geezer was the original Steve harris
Tate Thompson ozzy came up with the “im going through changes” part. He contributed, very little but he did

Charles had a long, hard road before he broke through and was recognized as an artist in his own right. Rest in peace, Mr. Bradley.
I don’t care for the yell but his singing was drop dead wonderful.

This is one of those covers that is superior to the origin. Much like Johnny Cash's Hurt.
I humbly disagree. In both those cases both versions are equally powerful but different in my opinion
I, on the other hand completely agree with you my friend. This is not to disregard both originals (Hurt & Changes)
