100 percent soul.. yes im a grown man. Im 40 and this song tears me up every single time and im proud to day that... too bad that man is gone but this song will live on 4ever in my heart.. god bless
For anyone just getting to know Charles Bradley - there is a wonderful documentary about his life and the beginnings of his connection with a larger audience - 'Soul of America." Beatifully done. And you also get to see what a beautiful person he was
Sadly Charles passed away in 2017. He was a struggling artist for a long time before we became well known. He has an amazing life story. This is one of my favorite songs Ozzy sings. Both evoke emotion. You will like the Mr. Jukes song Grant Green ft. Charles Bradley. The official Charles Bradley video for Changes is great. You will cry. You nailed it Charles started out impersonating and covering James Brown songs. You should check out Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, Sharon was like the female James Brown (super soulful), she also recently passed away and was on the same label as Charles, Daptone Records. The Dap-Kings are the band behind a lot of Amy Winehouse's music. They gave her that iconic sound.
The first time I heard this rendition years back it had me quivering. And I’m still deep in my feelings every time I hear it over wasted time, relationships lost, and the passing of loved ones.
My mama passed away this September 23rd. I flew into LA to see her. Spent the night with her in the hospital, talked about making changes in our lives and promised that she'd move in with me so I can take care of her. Liver cancer got the best of her that night and she fought the next couple of days, until the Lord said otherwise. On my way home from the airport, this song came on and finished as I parked in the garage. Fuck, that was rough last 5-minute drive home. I love you Mama.
I missed this one. So glad I heard somebody mention it. My second wife passed away at home sometime before Sunday morning back then and it still hurts to this day.
I’m so happy that you recognize the lyrical genius of Black Sabbath. I feel like that is their strongest attributes and many people skip over that aspect. Much love to you brother and keep making people smile.
I hope by now you haven listened to more Charles Bradley. Besides his amazing talent he was such a genuine and loving person. We lost him too early. There is a wonderful documentary about his life. I feel very fortunate I got to see him Live once before he passed
Charles Bradley was a diamond and every song he sang he put his heart and soul into it and that's why this man is on my to list to listen to cause he made many great songs that are just amazing and why is it so hard song he sang is one of my many favorites of him and I can't just choose one from him cause they mainly are all my favorites of him. Rip Charles Bradley and his music will never die but get better over the coming years, like fine wine it just gets better over the years while it ages.
So happy you reacted to this. This cover of this song means to much to me. Lost my mother recently. Just seeing someone else connect to this the same way I did when I first heard it helps so much man. Thank you ❤
I have seen this a few times. It was nice to see how moving you found it. This was a profoundly sad perfomance. What’s more, it was like a major league pitcher telling the batter what pitch he was going to throw and the batter still being unable to hit it. Charles Bradley told us it was going to be sad - and why - and still mopped the floor with our emotions.
the world def did not get enough charles bradley before he sadly left this mortal coil. also check out his songs "heartaches & pain" or "the world (is going up in flames)"
Charles Bradley, the Screaming Eagle of Soul, AKA Black Velvet, was a former James Brown impersonator. His rendition of changes is one of the most soulful songs I’ve ever experienced!
Most likely his native tongue can't allow him to make that pronunciation. My mother has been in this country for well over 50 years and still can not pronounce certain letters and combinations. We still make fun of her 😂😂
You need to know a little more about his life. He grew up on the streets, no education. When he was getting prepared to do this he had a tutor teaching him to read. He was an amazing and extremely kind man. He deserved the success he had at the end of his life and so much more. I am glad he got to share his gift and got the love he richly deserved.
it’s called soul music because you can feel it in your SOUL, makes you emotional. there’s nothing quite like it.
He was a phenomenal singer.
Charles Bradley. A remnant from decades past. God bless. RIP
100 percent soul.. yes im a grown man. Im 40 and this song tears me up every single time and im proud to day that... too bad that man is gone but this song will live on 4ever in my heart.. god bless
💯 my brother
Definitely my favorite Black Sabbath cover. Charles Bradley's version is very powerful. The original is great too.
Well that was incredible.
Indeed!
CB is incredible ❤
He makes this song his own. Brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it.

You dont hear this song, you FEEL it. This song hurts my soul.
Oh my God I have loved this version for years! Charles Bradley's voice is absolutely amazing. So much raw emotion that I tear up everytime.

It reminds me of that Sam Cook song, "A change is going to come", God I love that song... review that one Biz!
You’re hitting some great ones!

Experience Greatness
God yes. That cover is awesome.
Charles is my favorite of all time RIP ❤
This grabs ya !
RAW! 😎
Wow
TRUST ME On This One My Music Lovin Brother,, OMC "How Bizarre" (Official Music Video A MUST!!)
Check out " AINT NO SIN" by Charles Bradley
I read Bradley's wife died right before he did this. Geezer Butler, the bassist for Black Sabbath, wrote most of the lyrics. Like 90%.
Excellent. No relation to Charles that I know, Robert Bradley is pretty damn soulful too. California and Bellybone are two favorites.
Hehehe…
This is the last time you’ll ever say, “I don’t know nothin’ about Charles Bradley.”
That is true
A little context he actually had recently lost his mother prior to recording this.
Hi I love ur channel. I'm so sorry for us loss. Hope ur doing well. I have a song about that u may like sawyer brown the walk. Hope u listen thanks
He fiddled wit wording but he made it his .. N there's a feeling in 4 sure
By the 3rd line he almost had you
Sometimes it feels like i am the only one. Who doesn’t like this cover.
NGL I heard his version before I heard the original 😂 Don’t listen to much Sabbath. Much rather listen to Charles sing this than Ozzy lol sorry!!
Very powerful but it bothered me every time he said I'm going to changes instead of through changes
