I have the xm3. Also,I found that the xm3 sound kinda flat compared to the xm5. Ima keep these xm5 for like a week if I don't see the value ima return and just use my xm3.
I will agree to disagree. Sorry for your bad experience with xm5. I have absolutely none of these issues. Xm5 is my daily driver. Fit is excellent with stock eartips, anc is top notch, sound is great with my flac files in ldac mode, and no complaints about phone call quality from people I talk too.
@@av365 Well, I did and people can hear the noise but my voice can be heard relatively clear over the background. For phone calls I mostly use plantronics voyager legend headset.
Hey man, it's 5.30 in the morning here in India and I've been binging your vids since 12 😂 right after watching that op pro 2 vid, found nothing like yours on yt, it's sale season here, tell me genuinely what would you pick personally considering all aspects, if the linkbuds and OnePlus were offered under the same price tag
@@notKhalid overall both sound clean but with different areas of emphasis...for more people the OP would sound great with tight punchy bass but still with low distortion...the Sony won't have the bass impact but will have overall good sound that is a little less in-you-face vocals etc. ...the rest is UpTo your preference really..if you can try before you buy that's the best
Another point about battery drain issue. A battery on the earbuds has ruffly 500 charging cycles. Each time you let the battery run below 20% you use up 1 cycle. Letting you battery run below 20% is simply a bad idea since it shortents the overall lifespan of your batteries and reduces it from 2-3 years to a few months. Your choice. I'd rather keep mine for a long time.
If possible, i would like to hear your view on the technics Az80. I think it's phenomenal The wf5 was not for me. Fit was horrible. No matter what i did. Returned it within 24 hours
I respect that. But your review looks like an outlier. I listened to several mic calls from them, and nothing sounded like yours. You should probably have tried another pair, in case you had a defective unit. I am split bw the XM5 and AZ60M2. I will buy one next month.
I have tried thousand times to use the mic in a phone call. I saw the videos where the reviewers do phone calls and the mic seems to be great, but in my case it is terrible, really terrible, you can't phone call with this earbuds. I thought it was a setting I had wrong but no, simply those reviews are not in a real phone call. This is the first review where the reviewers actually tells you about this.
I always have this kinda battery problem with sony earbuds. 1 bud always drains faster than the other. & when fully charged & stored the batteries drain automatically. I don't experience these issues with my jabra 75t or technics Az60.
I recently moved to Sony WF1000 XM5 from AirPods pro and I would say , Sony is awesome and noise cancelling is better than AirPods Pro and I would continue use Sony. So far I have no problems with Sony XM5.
Wow one of your best videos Excellent work 🎉🎉🎉 I hope Sony are watching. All of your points match mine U should try the az80 which I still believe is the best buds this year. Jabra elite 10 are also not bad
Az 80's ANC is practically non-existant and in the noisy commute conditions negates Az's sound quality, instrument separation and wide soundstage. Complete waste of money for commuters.
Im glad I found this video. My call quality was fine for the first 2-3 weeks but now everyone says I sound static ugh. No issues when not on calls. I may consider returning them sigh but they sound so good with music etc sigh
@@imwhatsnew the opposite is also just as common. Tech reviewers seem to be split. Watching an audio engineer reviewing the Sennheiser mom4s right now and he puts the XM5s at #3 out of 23 spots for ANC. Negative reviews are just as common as the positive reviews. When I bought them for myself, I have experienced what the positive reviews have communicated
What’s even more bizarre is how ANC performance changes if you log in with Sony account, as a bunch of people figured out over at head-fi. If only my XM4 battery didn’t blow up I’d still be using that. Thanks for the great video as always!
My xm4 died after 1year and 2 months because of the update. Called Sony and got mine replaced no questions asked. Excellent service from Sony. Still got xm5 which are superior in sound, comfort and call quality. When used with sony a55 music player- even better within sony ecosystem.
The ambient mode hack is crazy. Your video is awesome. I was reddy to throw away these earbuds but looks like Sony released them.with the potential but didn't set it up for the general public but rather to appeal to old style android tweakers. After dealimg for ear tips, EQ settings, ambient mode settings, Sony account etc etc now I have the most awesome sounding earbuds I have owned. However, Sony should not people in this situation they should fix all these inconveniences shame on them.
Be carefull which ear tip replacements you use if they don't have the protective mesh that come with the original XM5 over time you will damage your earbuds. Comply True Grip Pro tips come with the mesh which replacement tips do you recommend ?
Talking about speak to chat, I have the wh 1000xm 5 and the speak to chat feature ia good, but is so dumb sometimes, if I get a WhatsApp call or a meeting on either zoom or google it takes the sound as music instead of phone call, so it activates speak to chat as soon as you speak... Meaning you don't hear people on the other side
@@imwhatsnew so, I got the wf-1000xm5. It seems like the battery drain is different on the earbuds because they are independent from each other, meaning that if you use the commands on the left more than the right, the left will drain faster, as well as the right uses the mic to pick up the speak to chat function, so if it is activated, the right will drain faster regardless of the commands
@@imwhatsnew yes mic for phone call quality. I just bought the Sony as a few other reviewers said that phone call quality was good. Will test it today and return if people can't hear me
Just a side note from an owner of XM4, they get better with updates including and especially phone call quality, I couldn’t use XM4 for calls when first bought them but after few updates it’s great for calls now
I would never touch any Sony products again. My sister have the XM4 and it got the early production defect with its charging components. Sony still refuse to acknowledge it and anyone unfortunate enough with expired warranty before it broke due to mismatch of charging rate between the case and the buds are screwed.
this is ( difference in battery for left and right earbud ) common for all sony true wireless buds, because one of them is working more then the other one, so battery dies on one of them soon

The call quality is great; it is on par with or sometimes better than the AirPods 2 Pro. I wonder why your call quality on yours is bad.
