    I feel like I should take on one big task once and for all: get this van and disappear for good. I can't afford it at the moment, but for the sake of my inner peace, I have to make it happen - and I will.

    What a great van. Even better it's a small family business. They are genuine and care about their product and do all their own R&D. Can wait to see the next upgrade in Feb.

    Great video Peter, great campervan, great review. You can count on Peter to bring the best MotorHome and CamperVan unbiased reviews. The RP campervans are something special, I can understand the cost, this shows just what is possible. Thanks again Peter.

    Very nice to see a company not getting scared by the price point. Bit light on the 154 litre fresh water capacity. That is my only complaint, which wouldn't be a deal breaker. Great van.

    • @MotorhomeCampervan
      @MotorhomeCampervan  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      154 litres might be small in a big A-class but it's pretty impressive for a panel van

      The composting toilet accounts for say 20 litres of water over 3 days at least. Also, you can have an upgraded water filter allowing you wider access to water sources.

    Beautiful van, great video! But is this the standard Mercedes 4x4 or is it improved by locking differentials and gear box reduction?

  • @_bav
    @_bav 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Very impressive, but for that price I wouldn't expect to see stuck-on labels for all the additional buttons and controls they've added in the cab area (as shown @12:36)

      We had one of the early Rebellion 2s and took it off road through the Pyrenees, Picos and the sand roads in Portugal. Turn off the traction control and this thing has an amazing capability. As an overland Hilux driver I was truly impressed. Scratched up our very expensive van a bit BUT a day with the drill and polish compound on the paint and windows and all back to perfection.

    One question, why has the price of these gone up so significantly in 2 years? You can still find the brochure pages from 2022 and the starting price then was just under £80k.
    Now they're £150k minimum. I'm guessing they got too popular so could jack up the prices. Love the brand but I guess I'm going to have to look elsewhere now.

    • @MotorhomeCampervan

      Chassis and component costs have risen dramatically and RP have also introduced more tech and spec.
      There are cheaper alternatives but not with the same equipment levels. Have a look at Yucon and Weinsberg for a lower-priced 4x4 camper.

    My real questions are not about this excellent van, but where in Western Europe it could be really used. The only Rebellion I've seen was .... on a hardstanding pitch.
    To be fair if I spent that kind of money I'd think twice about moving off the drive, let alone overland to Capetown.....

    • @mac22011964
      @mac22011964 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      How about Turkey, Georgia, Albania, Montenegro, Greece etc over 6 months. That’s what we did with ours, about 50% off road plus some river crossings…..the thing is much more capable than you might think. No it isn’t for Africa but there are plants of places you can take this thing well off the beaten track. Only on campsites I would say about 10 days in all of that, usually for just one night, get laundry done. Never needed hook up and that was with an electrical system about half the size. We did have underslung gas though.

    In these days of financial uncertainty with most people cutting back on their spending I really don’t see much of a market for this van. I personally would also not like to be sleeping in a metal box with large batteries inside from a safety point of view. Mainly though, the amount of potential issues with such a lot of technology would give me sleepless nights. Good luck though, but I think it’s a niche product in a market that will not buy enough of them to sustain a profitable business.

    The only thing that I'm not keen on is the composting toilet. I'd rather have a cassette loo with a couple of spare cassettes. The idea of storing over sized dog poop bags in the garage until you come back off grid and can dispose of them properly isn't particularly appealing.

    • @MotorhomeCampervan

      @@MotorhomeCampervan You said that you bag the waste and bin it.

    • @firstnamelastname2669
      @firstnamelastname2669 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, pretty controversial since real composting in measured in months not days, particularly 'chemical free'. Some see 'composting toilet' as a polite way of saying they simply dump their sewage. That said, in the wild done as per 'leave no trace' that's quite legitimate.

    • @tonysummers2334
      @tonysummers2334 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @firstnamelastname2669 in the UK it would appear a lot of our sewage goes into the sea untreated. There are dog bins all over the place so responsibility people can dump safely. There are those with chemical filled cassettes that empty them anywhere! There will always be a group that don't clear up after their dogs, litter etc.
