Love all the old school RS turbos. I had the RS1800 fiesta. And miss that car alot always wanted to turbo it. But too young at the time. And moved back to New Zealand. And had to sell it. Then went to Skylines and Sylvias. Cause that's what we had. But still the mk3 fiesta still has that place. They way they drive, there awesome.
Front reminds me of my 86 Honda civic Si. Really do prefer the more boxy, angular, and simplistic designs of cars from this era. No excess bloat weight and no expense unnecessary tech to break.

The st170 came with a getrag 6spd, the rs came with a beefed mt75 version 5 speed, i dont want this guy to be seen off buying the 6 speed that are cheaper to only pay rs prices. the 6 speed box is good but 1st gear would be no use in this - stick with the mt75.
I had one of these back in the early 90s, built it myself from a crash damaged and had to re-shell it. Was hard to get parts as ford didn’t make many, they were low production run. Gearbox was 5 speed but was the limited slip diff version from Escort RS Turbo. No power steering so heavy at low speed, cornered better than the escort Rs turbo. Torque steer was nuts on mine which was fairly standard. I could get low 6 seconds 0-60 which was quick in those days. Surprised he’s not getting better times probably can’t get the power down. Needs wider rubber and bone crunchingly stiff suspension setup to get most out of that power to weight I’d guess.

In certain weather conditions the wastegate actuator would stick, and the thing would boost crazy for a few seconds until the engine management went into limp home mode needing a restart. Fun days before marriage and kids. Sold it for a Pug 407 1.8 with my 1st child. Driving has never been the same again 😢

love this car. very cool. i have a 250bhp focus zx3 here in california but will be doing some upgrades and upping boost. goal is 300bhp but with boost 400. i wont reduce weight anymore since i need it for traction as i am trying to fit more tire without adding fender flares. the car looks stock more or less. seeing high end sports cars faces when they cant keep up is unbelievably hilarious.

After messing with my mk7 fiesta st this old skool fiesta really needs adjustable front control arms and some more caster to help control the torque steer 👍🏻
These old fords are too sick! Could have had one of these for 2 grand when i was 19 but couldn't afford the insurance because of the mods on it... As you can tell, I'm still not over it 😂😥
just bought an xr2i plannig on doing a itb setup and maybe an 2 litre bottom block swap not gonna turbo it because my Nissan Sunny 1.6 gets a turbo ;) If u want you can come over to do a testdrive in both but i live in the netherlands and they are not done yet unforunately

5:30 gears has only the mk1 focus st170 (Getrag 285), the Focus RS is just an MTX75 as in normal 2l focus and 1.8 diesels, with lsd

Needs a DV/blowoff valve, that flutter sounds great, but it's the compressor blades screaming in pain! Also makes the turbo 'more' laggy.

I had a 1.8 zvh fiesta xr2i conversion. I put the dashboard from a ford puma in it as it could accommodate the roll cage and was about 30kg lighter
