Rob, 🤣🤣😂😂😁😁 your reactions to Polish folk songs are worth a fortune. 🤣😂😉🙃 They are so hilarious. Gosh, I can't express how much fun I have watching you so puzzled by the lyrics😆🤣🤣After the experience with "In my garden" you've gone to the other extreme.😉🤪
Hahahaha 😅😅😅😅😅Rob, there is no hidden agenda this time. A simple song by a simple girl trying to estimate her chances in the marriage market. But it's so sweet to see you trying to understand Polish folk lyrics. You shouldn't have any complexes - for most young Poles it is quite difficult due to these metaphors and archaic language. Hahahaha - poor Anglo-Saxon Rob faces Polish, Slavic folk music. It `s genius! I have an association with my favorite emoticon: 😳 You made my day Rob! 😄😄😄😄 Love you!
There isn't anything deeper in this song. She just like most women wants to get married. Maybe shes not very pretty but she has other valuable character features. I don't think she's rich. It's a simple village girl.
there's a polish movie that was just made. It's based on nobel priced novel by Władysław Reymont and it's more like artistic project than an actual movie because it was fully painted frame by frame and the whole effect is just really impressive. It's called "the peasants". It tells the story that is set in polish countryside in late 19th ceuntry and it's full of traditions. Seriously I recomend reacting to it, I think you would be intrested.
This song is rather straightforward (go, figure...😂 ). It just says that while beauty may help in finding love, it will not hold the couple together, and beauty fades in time. It's better to be "beautiful on the inside" in the long run.
Zbojnicki ( W morowanej piwnicy ) TerazMy / Hej bystra woda Krywań / Szalała szalała or Idzie dysc
The song in the film is by a disco polo band Kolor. Melody is the same, but it is not "natural" for folk songs. You already know the lyrics, so you can check more traditional version (played with real instruments): th-cam.com/video/-pMNrBheiX8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=REQyUIxnzVg8EwJ0 There is no deeper meaning. Mind that in those times women's role was to: 1) get married , 2) have kids 3) work work work. And 'berries' are just a part of surrounding nature. It is one of the characteristics of the genre ;) So she sings about what bothers her ;)

This song is about getting married. Those who were wealthy, they were married first, but husband was usually choosen by familly. Those who were pretty were getting merried (still could go for some more wealthy man, but they had more options) next and those who were any of these should have luck to get married, probably with less wealthy men. I am pretty sure this is not Polish typical. There is Polish movie Chłopi - the Peasnts, which has been launched in October, based on nobel prize novel written by Władysław Reymont. This is about very pretty girl who was pushed to marry wealthy but old man. Very tragic story. Music to this movie is genius, also movie itself.
She's lucky, at least she's rich, there's so many of us who are neither pretty nor rich and what can we do 😂 btw at least this song is funny and joyful in melody, I didn't know this one before
I was requesting that song :D now only 2 remains: - Bij bolszewika! - (Polish Anti-Soviet Song) - Nie masz nad żołnierza... - (Song about Polish soldier) :)
Hi Rob! I have great polish content suggestion for You! I highly recommend the "Love my Poland" youtube channel. Although not very active recently, its run by Russel, an american man who moved to Poland in 90s. So far its the most factual and realistic depiction of Polish culture and a lot of everyday life in Poland ive seen on youtube. You can find all from mushroom picking explained, wedding experience and christmas traditions :)
For current youth music "standards" it fits better with speed x1.25 or even 1.5. PS. Undertones on almost all folk music is love/hate girls/boys with lot of nature themes
Beauty is not the key to sucess, beauty is temporary, something that keeps changing as years go by. A good heart is not something you can purchase with money. Some people decribe love in terms of your look, some would rather look into your heart. The later one are winners though harder to find. As for czerwone jagody...we could come up with hidden meaning but in my opinion there's no such need because in this particular song they simply rhyme with the lyrics, that is all.
Most if folk songs are talking about simple things in life. This one teaches that if a girl is good hearted, nice, hardworking, she will find a boyfriend/ husband even if she isn’t the prettiest one. Beauty is not what describes girl’s good characters, it’s the inner beauty and qualities that count :)
It is a simple naive song written maybe 200 years ago. No connotation with the 'this day of the month'. They use the red berries dropped to the water because it created the rhyme. A silly simple reason.
In the past, women rubbed their cheeks with red berries to look beautiful and healthy. Ruddy cheeks were a symbol of health, unlike a pale face, which symbolized anemia, i.e. lack of health.
About disco polo, which was mentioned in one of your earlier videos, this is the song that is "discopoled". Polish folk, any folk in general, definitely does not sound like that.
I like your way of thinking 😂 But... "red berries" in folk songs often mean: "flushed cheeks" (embarrassment) therefore... when they "fall into the water" it means that the girl is looking at herself in the water and is embarrassed.
Życzę Ci, by otaczali Cię ludzie z czystymi sercami i pozdrawiam 🌞
Rob, as a Pole, I'm telling you, you went SO WRONG with trying to undestand the lyrics. It has nothing to do with sex. Keep that in mind when you listen to other folk songs. This kind of music is very popular on weddings. It's mostly about love, not sex. Remember this. Saying that those songs are about sex is a bit offensive. But I understand that you're learning the culture and you don't get right all the things right off the bat. English subtitles are misleading. I agree that english subtitles make you feel like it's about getting boys etc, but when you mix with it the culture from that era, then it changes everything. You can't just look at the text. It is a part of culture that in folk music girls are singing about boys, but those songs are sang in good faith, telling stories about love.
You have just answered yourself .. she is wealth enough, good or even nice person, but propably she is ugly.. will that be enough? This is the common issue through history.. even when married with somone, if he actually loves her or cheating.. This song is big question mark

Exactly, we don't talk that someone past away, we talk he died.
Hahahaha Your reaction is priceless! Suspicious of hidden meaning and agenda. :D :D :D Have a great day Rob!
Rob I think you're overthinking it, this song is just about getting married
It's Rob's trauma after his video on "In my garden" 🤣🤣🤣

Rob, you're trying hard to find some deeper meaning in folk music, but it's usually not there.
Well it was last time! 🤣
