The first furry I've seen was Telephone, I showed my mom, and she was supporting me in becoming a furry. Ever since then, it's been mostly uphill! Definitely the most supportive fandom I've seen!

Oh, this fandom can never stop, you may go like "It can stop! Because it is a fandom! Every fandom stops!" What you find are fandoms based around games, that is a fuel for a fandom, it can run out. The furry fandom is based around a idea, a concept, that works as a fully sustainable fuel.

I am currently 13 years old, and I’ve been in the fandom for quite a while. (Please do not @ me for how long, I’ve been in it long enough to know the rules and the overall explanation of what the fandom has to deal with.) I’ve seen a lot of videos either ranting or showing the cons of young furs, and I’d just like to say thank you for such an understanding video. Not only do you add why we aren’t harmful, you also showed what older furs can do to help younger ones like me to pursue whatever we want to become inside the fandom. Throughout my time being in the community I’ve seen the good side and the bad side. I know what yiffing is what it has to do with furries, I know the types of artwork people come up with, pretty much everything that the mentors make sure we don’t invest in too quick. I believe that as long as you aren’t being too annoying and clingy to the fandom as a child, you are able to be known as what people call a “furry.” I’m still a child, I don’t know everything, although I know enough as a kid to know what I should stay away from until I get older (or not, it depends on what type of person I am. Though I do not want to take part in such activity, it is totally fine for furries who like that side to do what they would like to do.) Again thank you so much for this video, it made me happy to know that at least some people out there are here to support younger ones like me, helping to make sure we can keep up and not be harassed for something we love deeply.

I guess I'm in because I love animals and the art is amazing. I've been experimenting around with a fursona, and I've gone through about 3 to match me as I change. Problem is, my parents make me feel a little strange when I draw around them, I almost hide it. Luckily, I have a few friends IRL & I've started to post on r/furry. I agree that tracing is stupid, but I do it sometimes for references to learn drawing different things. I can now draw a slightly above average dragon! only the head, the body looks like a water bottle
i cant draw because of hypermobility im my thumbs which if under strain (drawing/writing) it will cause alot if pain and in bad cases paralisis in my finger joints
Practice makes perfect, keep at it. My kids got me into the fandom in spite of the "adult" stereotypes that I grew up hearing. If your parents love you then they'll want to know the things you're interested in. If anything it will open up a bridge of communication and remember even if it takes them awhile to fully understand/accept your fursona you still have supporters in the fandom.

The most kind hearted, friendly people i’ve ever seen on the internet. I was pretty cold, emotionless, selfish, mean, and lonely before I became a furry. An anti-fur who though I had no other choice. And now, those problems are almost gone. I can understand if... anyone still decides not to trust me, after all this time. Considering how ruthless i used to be.

The things I did are the usual things young furries do. Insults, attention-requiring, noisiness and many more. When yeeting immaturitu in summer, introvertish and emo personalities come in. Yes, I dealt with the pessimism that showed up recently. I honestly don’t know why, but I always have to comment on videos about this topic. While you are right about everything, like being more of a mentor than an a**hole, and acknowledging that soon the next generation will replace the one right now, it really should be known that it is going to happen, and what whatever comes is what’s coming, wether it may turn good or bad. And in all honesty, I kind of do expect more and more young furs to pop in the coming years, mostly because of furries kind of becoming mainstream, and you know... the internet. But take me for example. Right now, I’m 13 (about 14), and have kind of been in the fandom close to 2 years. It’s been somewhat by Pokémon, but Zootopia honestly made it a shortcut to just see the VASTNESS of the fandom. I was kinda dumb at first, like legitimately being a “stereotypical 12 year old fur”, wanting free art, role-play, and all of that. It’s been a very dark road for me throughout that time as well, not kidding either. I’ve had to see quite a few things, and learn the hard AND easy way. I mean yeah I’m still not used to everything yet, but I’ve learned so much already, by both experience and by the people who helped me be apart of this community. This honestly goes to anyone that’s new; Please, if you want to be a part of the fandom, be in it! It’s honestly amazing here, meeting new friends, being inspired by artists, dancers, suiters, whoever! Just know that you’re still young, you have so much potential for whatever you want to do. Just make sure you learn from your mistakes, and make the right choices. I’m sure that any and all of you can make a big difference in this community, a an amazing one at that. Well, that’s all I had to say. Sorry if it’s too long or whatever else, but I tried my best to explain.
I've been a furry since I was about 9, so around 8 or 9 years, and I have to say, I was extremely lucky that most of my friends were really chill about it. However, I'm also a few things that people don't take nearly as well, such as being pansexual. My advice to any young furs, for what it's worth, is don't let people discourage you from anything. If you genuinely enjoy something, go for it. If people make fun of you for something, just smile and wave, as tempting as it is to make a comeback. You aren't wrong for enjoying something, so you have nothing to prove. Don't let them get to you. You aren't a bad person for not being "normal." In fact, you are probably better than any "normal" person. As long as you don't hurt anyone without consent, of course.
I've been a furry since I was 14 after discovering about some very talented artists, now I'm 16 and I'm very thankful I've been guided by nice people who helped me understanding what was the fandom about and not being freaked out by the "dark side" so I wouldn't judge. I even ended up liking some of this stuff I would've found gross (yes, I admit having been there before being 18) if I had taken the wrong path in the first place. The fandom has taught me a lot about tolerance and it changed my point of view about things such as sexual orientations (I've even questionned mine at some point) or even people's tastes (I used to be that kinda jerks who think that everything they dislike is bad). It also helped me "developing" myself : I discovered things I didn't know I liked such as fursuiting (I've never really liked wearing any kind of costumes before), I could talk and debate with people about things that aren't known from the mainstream audience and of course make a lot of nice, understanding and supportive friends. My advice I'd give to a young fur would be to make sure they're ready before jumping the leap. Of course, if I have one day a child, I'll teach them about what you can do as a furry (without forcing them), but I'd wait until they're old enough (I think that being 14 is the right time for it) to jump into the community and start talking to people after telling them what's right and what's not. I think that, as a young fur, we need more tolerance and understanding for not knowing everything or being in the wrong places at first, but I get that talking about it to their parents is hard because their opinion about furries might be biased because of all the stereotypes. I was lucky enough to have parents who don't know about sub-cultures so I could just tell them what I would like to do and they'd let me do it as long as it doesn't involve anything weird. Anyway, thank you for this nice video, we need more people to talk about this subject and how to handle it !

in my opinion, it shouldn't be that big of a deal. I mean, to "non-furries", this community is just a fandom, like any others, it really depends on the impression that they have about furries.
I pretty much became a furry in 4th grade, that’s when a majority of my class was reading wings of fire, and I started to draw dragons and I still do now, those were my stepping stones, I have been drawing for almost four years now and I’m taking a step further and attempting to make some paws, feet, tail, and head for my first fursuit
I’m still a young fur but I guess how I got in the fandom was from my love of animals. I always loved the idea of talking animals and communicating with them but since I “can’t” really do that anthropomorphic animals was the closest thing. I didn’t know about the fandom since about 2 years ago. My first character that I made was an animal that I made myself that I called “Muju” I made him in 2013. Today I am made fun of and called many different Named because I am in the fandom when all I do is draw my characters. I know there are plenty of other young furs like me and if you know that you did nothing wrong don’t give those “haters” the attention that they want.

I was a furry for a year.
I guess I'm in because I love animals and the art is amazing. I've been experimenting around with a fursona, and I've gone through about 3 to match me as I change. Problem is, my parents make me feel a little strange when I draw around them, I almost hide it. Luckily, I have a few friends IRL & I've started to post on r/furry. I agree that tracing is stupid, but I do it sometimes for references to learn drawing different things. I can now draw a slightly above average dragon!

Practice makes perfect, keep at it. My kids got me into the fandom in spite of the "adult" stereotypes that I grew up hearing. If your parents love you then they'll want to know the things you're interested in. If anything it will open up a bridge of communication and remember even if it takes them awhile to fully understand/accept your fursona you still have supporters in the fandom.

As a pretty young furry myself, I found the fandom through... unconventional ways. I watched The Click's videos about furry subreddits about a year ago, and I thought, "hey, I can identify with this, I should make a fursona!" and that's really about it

Edit: hey, it’s me again. 10 months later. I became a furry 5 months ago. And all I have to say is: you people are the best. The most kind hearted, friendly people i’ve ever seen on the internet.
I was pretty cold, emotionless, selfish, mean, and lonely before I became a furry. An anti-fur who though I had no other choice. And now, those problems are almost gone.

I'm a young fur (very early, 14).
I used to be super annoying in Twitter because of my immaturity. At that time, I ignored the things I did to many furries, making the fandom affected. The things I did are the usual things young furries do. Insults, attention-requiring, noisiness and many more.
Summer came and it was super boring, I thought of reviewing the entire mistakes I did to everyone. I realized that I was such a... uhmm... (bad language alert) a D. Yeah, I was a super D to everyone. I think many people have post hates about me and I kind of agree to it to this day.
Now, I yeeted my immaturity and it felt good to be someone better now, right? Not really. When yeeting immaturitu in summer, introvertish and emo personalities come in. Yes, I dealt with the pessimism that showed up recently. Just a little message to young furs and grown ones.

I honestly don’t know why, but I always have to comment on videos about this topic.
While you are right about everything, like being more of a mentor than an a**hole, and acknowledging that soon the next generation will replace the one right now, it really should be known that it is going to happen, and what whatever comes is what’s coming, wether it may turn good or bad.
And in all honesty, I kind of do expect more and more young furs to pop in the coming years, mostly because of furries kind of becoming mainstream, and you know... the internet.
But take me for example. Right now, I’m 13 (about 14), and have kind of been in the fandom close to 2 years. It’s been somewhat by Pokémon, but Zootopia honestly made it a shortcut to just see the VASTNESS of the fandom. I was kinda dumb at first, like legitimately being a “stereotypical 12 year old fur”, wanting free art, role-play, and all of that. It’s been a very dark road for me throughout that time as well, not kidding either. I’ve had to see quite a few things, and learn the hard AND easy way. I mean yeah I’m still not used to everything yet, but I’ve learned so much already, by both experience and by the people who helped me be apart of this community.
This honestly goes to anyone that’s new; Please, if you want to be a part of the fandom, be in it! It’s honestly amazing here, meeting new friends, being inspired by artists, dancers, suiters, whoever! Just know that you’re still young, you have so much potential for whatever you want to do. Just make sure you learn from your mistakes, and make the right choices. I’m sure that any and all of you can make a big difference in this community, a an amazing one at that.

I've never felt more like a little kid till hearing all this and realising, that I can be described like that
I've been a furry since I was about 9, so around 8 or 9 years, and I have to say, I was extremely lucky that most of my friends were really chill about it. However, I'm also a few things that people don't take nearly as well, such as being pansexual. My advice to any young furs, for what it's worth, is don't let people discourage you from anything. If you genuinely enjoy something, go for it. If people make fun of you for something, just smile and wave, as tempting as it is to make a comeback. You aren't wrong for enjoying something, so you have nothing to prove. Don't let them get to you. You aren't a bad person for not being "normal." In fact, you are probably better than any "normal" person. As long as you don't hurt anyone without consent, of course.

I've been a furry since I was 14 after discovering about some very talented artists, now I'm 16 and I'm very thankful I've been guided by nice people who helped me understanding what was the fandom about and not being freaked out by the "dark side" so I wouldn't judge. I even ended up liking some of this stuff I would've found gross (yes, I admit having been there before being 18) if I had taken the wrong path in the first place.
The fandom has taught me a lot about tolerance and it changed my point of view about things such as sexual orientations (I've even questionned mine at some point) or even people's tastes (I used to be that kinda jerks who think that everything they dislike is bad).
It also helped me "developing" myself : I discovered things I didn't know I liked such as fursuiting (I've never really liked wearing any kind of costumes before), I could talk and debate with people about things that aren't known from the mainstream audience and of course make a lot of nice, understanding and supportive friends.
My advice I'd give to a young fur would be to make sure they're ready before jumping the leap.
Of course, if I have one day a child, I'll teach them about what you can do as a furry (without forcing them), but I'd wait until they're old enough (I think that being 14 is the right time for it) to jump into the community and start talking to people after telling them what's right and what's not.
I think that, as a young fur, we need more tolerance and understanding for not knowing everything or being in the wrong places at first, but I get that talking about it to their parents is hard because their opinion about furries might be biased because of all the stereotypes. I was lucky enough to have parents who don't know about sub-cultures so I could just tell them what I would like to do and they'd let me do it as long as it doesn't involve anything weird.
Anyway, thank you for this nice video, we need more people to talk about this subject and how to handle it !

I mean, to "non-furries", this community is just a fandom, like any others, it really depends on the impression that they have about furries.
I pretty much became a furry in 4th grade, that’s when a majority of my class was reading wings of fire, and I started to draw dragons and I still do now, those were my stepping stones, I have been drawing for almost four years now and I’m taking a step further and attempting to make some paws, feet, tail, and head for my first fursuit
I’m still a young fur but I guess how I got in the fandom was from my love of animals. I always loved the idea of talking animals and communicating with them but since I “can’t” really do that anthropomorphic animals was the closest thing. I didn’t know about the fandom since about 2 years ago. My first character that I made was an animal that I made myself that I called “Muju” I made him in 2013.
Today I am made fun of and called many different Named because I am in the fandom when all I do is draw my characters.
I know there are plenty of other young furs like me and if you know that you did nothing wrong don’t give those “haters” the attention that they want.
