    Hi Mazzy,
A massive Lennon fan... I have them all... and I so want this one too but times are not too good right now. I would love to get it..... but I will need to wait. Major Lennon fan... I
mean I go through life quoting the man. I miss this man so much. He would be so much in need to be part of this world TODAY ! We don't have leaders, songwriters and visionaries
like him around. We will never see another LENNON.... ever.
God bless you Mazzy and LENNON.... (PS - So happy that the LENNON estate sent you this. Glad they are putting the shine to this MASTERPIECE)
(PS 2 - You get me every time with GORGEOUS)
    Tino

Lennon would probably be cancelled by the woke folk today for speaking his mind because you know that free speech is a big no-no to cancel culture.

The best Lennon sang was in Toronto during a raw Dizzy Miss Lizzy with EC on lead guitar.....

This channel is becoming a favorite of mine. Here (in Mazzy) we have someone who actually lived and immersed himself in these things that those of us who werent even born yet absolutely love.
The fact that you have these on TH-cam makes you a treasure. My Dad is 5 years older than you Mazzy, and he'll tell me stories, but these videos... ::chef's kiss::

I've pre-ordered the vinyl version of the new release but the more I hear about the deluxe CD/DVD set I think I'm going to have to splurge for it. This is also my favorite John album and actually in my top ten albums of all time. The raw emotion of John bearing his soul on this album is so gut wrenching. From "Mother" to "God", there is not another album that I can think of that hits you like the songs on Plastic Ono Band.

I grew up a couple of miles from Tittenhurst Park when John and Yoko lived there. Still drive past the place every couple of weeks. It is now owned by a wealthy Arab who has replaced the wooden fence that surrounded the property with a brick wall. The studio John installed and used for Imagine has also been ripped out apparently. Thought you might be interested. Love your stuff, Mazzy.

    Thanks for this...
pre ordered it and look forward to spinning it. I was 10 in 77 when Elvis died, and shrugged it off other then the fact that it was the first time I saw my mother cry at the death of a stranger. I was 13 when Lennon died, and already playing in my first rock band. It shook me to my core, and I remember exactly where I was, who I was with, and I remember crying at the death of a stranger. Love this record and all John’s stuff.
Again, thanks for bringing this to my attention.

You are correct about Yoko being such an influence in the post-punk movement. Did you know that L7 sampled her screaming on Wargasm (with her blessing of course)? It fits perfect for that song.

I remember getting a copy of Yoko's book Grapefruit and being very pleasantly surprised at how great it is - plus a shout out to Mind Train off Fly which is very similar to German bands like Can and Neu - she's a very underrated artist in my book who really doesn't deserve the hate/spite that she gets to this day

The original US Plastic Ono Band LP had the sliced apple on side 2. Some of the singles of the era in the US did have unsliced apples on both sides.

Nice video Mazzy as always. Love that large poster. Recently did a large painting that included some inspiration from that "War is Over" poster. Love the way the cover photo seems like it's been cleaned up, or heightened. I have a feeling I might just pick up the 2 cd set. One question, what does fiber based print mean from the photo of John? Never heard of that.

    • @mazzysmusic
      @mazzysmusic  3 ปีที่แล้ว

What is a Silver Gelatin Fiber Print?
Silver print, Fiber prints, Gelatin silver as they are commonly referred to and are one and the same. This is a museum quality, tray printing process (not machine processed). Fiber paper is a paper base that is coated with photographic emulsion. The base of fiber prints are not sealed like the RC paper, this makes for a slower process with washing and drying. These beautiful, archival, exhibition quality, black & white, silver gelatin, fiber prints have superior tonal range, durability, and resistance to fading for over 200 years.

@@mazzysmusic Thanks for the reply so quick. I went to Ohio U and received an MFA in printmaking(lithography/etching and relief) but I'm not familiar with the photographic term "fiber based" when it came to the printing process. I assumed it had something to do with the paper and the archival nature but wasn't sure. I was just curious. Again, thanks for the reply.

The first copy I had of this album ‘I Found Out’ ends with John going into Carl Perkins ‘Gone, Gone Gone’ briefly before the fade. All the later mixes fade this out earlier. Was Yoko not a Perkins fan?

  • @jeffkempin2784

Wow, those sets look pretty amazing. I have an original German pressing that I found at an estate sale for a buck. Cover is slightly beat but the record is mint. I have to be in a certain mood to listen to POB. I mean, it's not like I'm gonna play a song like Mother while I'm bouncing around the house doing stuff, you know? This is an intense record and John was laying his guts out for his art.

Agree with unboxing, it's like watching paint dry Mazz!
Glad all over could be the Elvis track they covered on the BBC tracks.
While I respect your taste and your opinion(s), I don't get nor do I wish to, 'conceptual' music, I am a fan of Melody, thats why I loved the Beatles. Not liking jazz probably does not help, like most of the 'Post punk.'
As for Sgt Pepper and the Abbey Road box sets, the are bloody brilliant, contrary to your taste Mazz.
I am a Beatle fan through, the solo years does very little to me or for me in all of the Beatle members. I won't be running out to buy this.
However I agree, your initial review is very interesting.
    Well done Norm!👍
    Happy listening🎼👍

Why must Apple Corp/Yoko remix albums that are classics? Actually it is not just John and Yoko (her 1994 Onobox was ruined - the cd reissues restored the lp mixes). It is a general Beatles issue. JOHN put out POB the way he wanted it to sound in 12/70. There is also a sense of deSpectorization in Beatleworld, sadly. I love both POB albums but even if I could ever afford it the concept and the remix I heard of Mother leave me cold.
