Great content, extremely informative! I'm currently using Ultradent Peak as a total etch without primer. I'm quite liking the ease and performance, but it seems too good. Is it a placebo, or is it really a good product?
Hey, Jaz. I have a question, i use SE BOND 2 adhesive system. When i need to prepare my ceramic ONLAY, or INLAY. After etching , i use silane then primer and bond on ceramic restoration, is it correct? Because in instruction Kuraray says that i need to use only primer from SE 2 and Porcelan BOND Activator( Clearfil), but the problem is that Activator in unavaliable in my country(Ukraine) so i cannot use it like it said in instruction. So, how can i prepare my porcelain restoration without this activator, the way what i described above is it correct? Or i shouldn't apply bond on porcelain restoration( only etch, silane and primer). Thank you if you can give a clear answer, because i am a little bit confused:(
Hey - I totally get your frustration with the SE BOND 2 adhesive system, especially since the Porcelan Bond Activator isn’t available in Ukraine. Here's the Standard Process: 1. **Etch**: Use hydrofluoric acid on the ceramic restoration. 2. **Rinse and Dry**: Make sure to rinse thoroughly and dry it. 3. **Silane**: Apply silane to the etched ceramic surface. 4. **Activator and Primer**: Normally, you'd use Porcelan Bond Activator with the SE BOND 2 Primer, but since you can’t get the activator, you need another way. Your Current Approach: 1. **Etch**: You’re doing this right. 2. **Silane**: Good job, keep doing this. 3. **Primer and Bond**: You’re using both on the ceramic restoration. Recommended Way Without Activator: Your method is close! Here’s a small tweak: 1. **Etch**: Keep etching the ceramic with hydrofluoric acid. 2. **Rinse and Dry**: Rinse it well and dry. 3. **Silane**: Apply silane, let it react, and then air dry. 4. **Primer**: Apply the SE BOND 2 Primer to the ceramic. This step is crucial. 5. **Skip Bond on Ceramic**: Usually, the bond is for the tooth surface. Just using primer on the ceramic should be enough. What’s Inside These Products: - **Porcelan Bond Activator**: Typically has stuff like Methacryloyloxydecyl Dihydrogen Phosphate (MDP) and Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate (HEMA) to make the bond stronger. - **SE BOND 2 Primer**: Contains 10-MDP and HEMA, which help create a strong bond on both tooth and ceramic surfaces. For the Tooth Surface: - **Primer and Bond**: Stick to the standard steps with both the primer and bond from SE BOND 2. In short, your method is almost spot on. Just go with etch, silane, and primer on the ceramic restoration, and do the usual steps on the tooth with both primer and bond from SE BOND 2. This should give you a strong, reliable bond. Hope this helps!
Hi Jaz Thanks for the informative session I do have a question My technique at the moment to cement onlays Is On prep appointment IDS using opti bond solo and layer of flowable composite On cement appointment Onlay etch sialine and opti bond solo Tooth air abrasion etch optio bond solo But I don't light cure I only light cure after putting cement which either nexus or panavia Can you please point out if something I am doing can be better
@@protrusive Thank you a lot for that huge and usefull answer! So i think the same as u said. But i ask this question to DR. Sami Serif's and his answer was like this. 1. **ETCH** 2. *RINCE AND DRY* 3. **Silane** 4. Primer is option when you use PRIMER from SE BOND 2 and PORCELAIN BOND ACTIVATOR(CLEARFIL)! But if u use the newer CLEARFIL CERAMIC PRIMER PLUS, you don't need to use PRIMER from SE BOND 2 and SILANE! So it's addition to your answer, maybe for some it will be helpfull, and we all together clarify all aspects about adhesive system SE BOND 2 and ceramic restoration. P.s. Jaz, thank you a lot for podcasts, i get a lot of new things, it's all because of you and your guests!
One of best podcasts. Amazing and insightful. Thank you so much.
Glad you found it helpful!
Would've been curious to hear about SE Protect vs SE Bond 2
Very good episode but it's all so complex....I just want to keep it simple 😮💨
I feel you...and always changing!

Amazing as usual. Thank you for your efforts to bring us free educational and enjoyable content
Totally my pleasure!
Great episode. Does air abrasion increase or decrease bond strength when using scotchbond?
Brilliant vid. What's the optimum protocol for bonding with optibond fl?
Amazing very helpful episode
Appreciate the comment, thanks!
SE PROTECT - se bond 2 but has antibacterial activity similar to CHX 2
I rly like this episode
"IDS" on veneer preps even on the enamel??
ah no - at least the way I interpreted was: IDS for veneers in to dentine. great point

@@protrusiveNot my question but a fantastic answer Jaz!
Hi Jaz
Thanks for the informative session
I do have a question
My technique at the moment to cement onlays
Is
On prep appointment IDS using opti bond solo and layer of flowable composite
On cement appointment
Onlay etch sialine and opti bond solo
Tooth air abrasion etch optio bond solo
But I don't light cure
I only light cure after putting cement which either nexus or panavia
Can you please point out if something I am doing can be better
