Mairsil is the best commander. A fairly cost creature with good stats, an amazing ability, and in the strongest color pairing in Magic. He can be used well in both casual and competitive play. With every set, as long as there are cards with activated abilities in grixis(there’s always at least a few) the deck gets more toys to play with. Mairsil is incredibly underrated, but perfect. Every time I have brought out my deck I’ve gotten someone who was curious about it. They’re either amazed at how effective it is, or impressed by the combo lines the deck uses.
According to the rules if have tomorrow out and would draw 7 cards you would look at 7 sets of 3 cards. Which is not quite the same thing as getting the 7 best cards out of 21 choices.
Not that much. You might find 3 very good cards in those 3 cards that you would very likely keep and opposite you may find 3 cards that are really bad in ur situation
Like these videos alot, great work.I'm truly enjoying these videos, they're incredibly helpful! They offer such great advice and I'm learning so much. I'm so glad I found them, they've really made a difference. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for valuable insights. Keep up the amazing work!
I play Zur. I love playing Zur. I don't play the insane stax version but the Astral Slide version. It doesn't matter, you are archenemy every game. Fun but know what you're in for.
I'm surprised not to see River Song on here. She's a universe is beyond, so I understand why I may not be on some people's list. However, she's a great compliment to Grenzo. With the color shift of red /bue. Makes for a very interesting build again.
I love playing suspend Jhoira, being able slam out huge creatures while leaving your mana pool intact on the turn they come feels great, and they come in with haste so Arcanis can tap to let me draw 3, etc. Other than Paradox Haze there's also Shadow of the Second Sun and Sphinx of the Second Sun, which can be suspended with Jhoira if you get them early to reduce the mana cost. The only issue I have is that I've yet to figure out how to defend myself when I inevitably become a huge target as my opponents get to see what I suspend. Rift Elemental is a must-have for her, too.
You mentioned Nalfeshnee as a good card for Yidris, but I think it would actually be more value in Jhoira. Most things you do are going to be from exile there anyways, and you'll probably be able to use a lot more high cost cards that would be awesome to copy with the low suspend cost. This is the first time I've seen Jhoira and I've already planned out a whole deck, I can't really play anymore so I haven't thought about getting any new decks in a while but this one seems right up my alley so I may build it anyways and hope I get to play again soon.
Question about, jhoira. The cards in exile with suspend on them arent on the battlefield, right? So technically any creature with suspend is immune to damage, board wipes, etc. Im assuming? Kinda new to MTG.
I have a Jhoira of the Ghitu and Mairsil the Pretender decks and they are so much fun. Jhoira casting homongous things for practically nothing is good, and gaining extra Upkeeps and/or triggers to get to remove time counter is better. But getting humongous things that deal with extra upkeeps/triggers is where things get silly for you, and apocalyptic for your opponents. And Mairsil, what can I say I like my "Turbo Swiss knife - Up to eleven" Commander. Practically Immortal, ramping in Grixis, sometimes even more than the green decks, having a response for almost any situation. I loved so much the flavor that I wanted Mairsil to do _Almost_ everything in the deck, so much that I left only two Sorcery (Beacon of Unrest and Final Parting), 1 Enchantment (Inexorable Tide) and 0 Instants. I made a proxy Alter for Mairsil, for the Naruto fans, it's Orochimaru chilling over the Edo Tensei coffins. I saw that and said "Oh... those are the Cages~"
Jhoira can even be more fun now that Worldfire is back in the game. Exile that with her, and then something else afterwards and then boom, you now have something while everyone else is struggling to rebuild. And by the time they could, you've won since it most likely is a damage dealer that you exiled before worldfire went off.
I've had three codie decks so far. I'll play it for awhile then tear it down. My current build is gates. Was just thinking about tearing that down the other day.
Two commanders I feel you forgot about. Any of the theif commanders like gonti or tinybones. Then there's Magar turning instants and sorceries into creatures
Love Grenzo. Another one that changes the game is Seizan, perverter of Truth. I'm playing demons so I'm banking on the quality of cards being higher than my opponents.
Could somebody reccomend a really nice Liesa list? I never found a list which was really appealing to me I love the group slug strategy and would combine it with some Aikidospells like Inkshield and lifegainstuff
I built a mairsil deck about like a year ago just because ive never seen anyone play it before and whenever i bring it out everyone is just watching me like WTF are you even doing lmao. I put stuff like Horn of Gondor in it and ulamogs dreadsire so i can make infinate 10/10 eldrazis or 1/1 humans or both.
Hinata is also one of those. "X targets" spells for free and tax for others. Broken design. Can be effectively built with anything that has a target as a subtheme. (blink, buff, control...)
Wouldn't you only do three at a time. So even withdraw 7 you're not looking at 21 cards you're looking at three and picking one and repeating that process seven times still powerful but not as powerful
pretty sure you are wrong on Tomorrow, he wouldn't be able to draw if you got possessed portal out, because you still have to have a draw to use his ability.
The inclusion of “instead” in both effects means they’re both replacement effects, so you’re able to decide the order they apply. You have tomorrow’s resolve first so Once tomorrow’s resolves you’re no longer drawing a card and portal doesn’t affect you.
I play Zur. I love playing Zur. I don't play the insane stax version but the Astral Slide version. It doesn't matter, you are archenemy every game. Fun but know what you're in for.
Every time I think about commanders that break the rules, I instantly think of Obeka, Brute Chronologist. Beautiful card design, I love it
The new Obeka too! Load your deck with all the good upkeep triggers like the Court cards and Ring cards
When I learned Magic it was explained to me that any rules text is just the way the card changes the base rules

well it *almost* is right..?

I mean you are right about that but it is still really good
If that's not a cEDH, i'll just concede to avoid that madness.
@@nikolajmeldgaardjohannesen9128 Ofc, this is basically scry 3 draw a card x7 this is crazy

I rock a Zur Voltron, fairish very fun

Roalesk, Apex Hybrid may not directly shift the rules, but go ahead and play clone spells and abuse the Legendary rule.
Did not know this card exists and it is now immediately going into my Volrath clones deck that I’m working on
I like Zur, Liesa, and Mairsil as Commanders. Thank you for the video.

If you make a part 2 to this, you have to include Me, the Immortal and Skullbriar. Fun times.😁

Maralen of the Mornsong would be fun with some of these cards! (Looking at Teferi's Puzzle Box)...
Two commanders I feel you forgot about.
Any of the theif commanders like gonti or tinybones.
Then there's Magar turning instants and sorceries into creatures
I feel like magar doesn't really break much for rules, all it is is making 3/3 "morphs" that have the instant/sorcery "ciphered" onto it
Edie is blamed for Mitch forgetting River Song. Cause why would you want to draw from the top of your deck.
I love Tomorrow, and mine Intet loves too!
The Mindskinners pretty good in the 99. Draws aggro and counters and if it does get through it disrupts.
It’s amusing how many of these I have decks built around… Tomorrrow, Codie, Zur (not Stax), Mairsil (no tutors)…
Love Grenzo. Another one that changes the game is Seizan, perverter of Truth. I'm playing demons so I'm banking on the quality of cards being higher than my opponents.
this is an unacceptable number of midroll ads
Could somebody reccomend a really nice Liesa list? I never found a list which was really appealing to me

Mairsil in top 3 fav commander decks of all time easily
And don't forget that Tomorrow, Azami's Familiar can prevent you from losing the game to having no cards left in your library with its ability.
Honestly seems worse than just drawing with a lab man

Yo Mitch i’m a big fan of your content but can you try to make a deck tech for lightpaws emperors voice budget? Would really appreciate it.
Ratadrabik of Urborg and the ring tempts you breaks the game
Most efficient combo in commander that I know.
@jumpinjehosephat1877 yeah goes infinite easily and can be used for many different benefits also many different win conditions
I love my jhoira deck. Ps i recommend creating suspend piles instead of using counters. Its much easier to manage.
can you do a skithirth deck
Why?
pretty sure you are wrong on Tomorrow, he wouldn't be able to draw if you got possessed portal out, because you still have to have a draw to use his ability.
