      Berry Tree Coffee Roasters Hi! I just went through the whole procedure. And I have Put it all together. But I have a problem. The so-called exorcist does not build up any pressure. And is therefore draining water through the whole brewing process. What could I have done wrong? Maybe I did something wrong in the assembly process? I would be so glad to get a tip:)!!!

    How often do you think you'd need to do something like this? My old espresso machine (not an e61 type, but a smaller boiler machine with a PID and thermoblock for steam) lasted over 10 years, without any maintenance, I think the only issue I had was leaky steam wand tip (a new gasket fixed that) I may have also replaced the group head gasket at one point but not sure. It still never died or anything, I just sold it.

    Are each of the three springs equal and interchangeable? After reassembly, when purging with a blank, there is a pressure relief and water flows from the lower group. Likewise, when brewing; overflow gets released thru the lower group.

    • @Veniacoffeeroaster
      @Veniacoffeeroaster  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It needs to be safe for "food contact" and meet the heat limits of steam. In the US these are rated as H1, not sure if this would be the same in Australia.

  • @stephencorrigan7218
    @stephencorrigan7218 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Having a hell of a time threading the piece back in with the "bulbous" part. I have the bulbous piece facing toward the front as I can readily see where it fits in. Can't get it to begin to thread in. It's a Profitec Pro 700 and only about 8 months old. I've worked on it before by replacing the top valve of the E61 with no problem. I keep it clean and only took this part to inspect. It barely needed any cleaning.
    Any tips?

    • @Veniacoffeeroaster
      @Veniacoffeeroaster  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First remove the old group gasket. If it is hard and brittle it may take a bit of effort. Often we use a pick to stab into the old gasket to pull out. Another trick is to place blue painters tape on the bottom of the edges of the group to protect the chrome and pry with a slotted screw driver. We suggest replacing the brew gasket every 6 months and lubing well with dow111. When followed on this schedule the screen usually comes out with minimal effort. You will also be amazed at how much coffee gunk can build up in this time, even with proper backflushing. If you pull shots with more nuanced coffees, this gunk can have a huge flavor impact.

    I have a Rocket espresso Giotto from 2004 - water tank model/vibration pump - model with half moon pressure gauge. This machine has not been used for the last 14 years or so I turned the machine on and all appeared to be fine (I did not pull a shot) Then I checked steam wand (was fine) and then hot water nozzle and it was fine and the water was coming out of it but then after that the machine wanted to collect the water from the tank to the boiler which of course is normal But despite the noise (rather louder than I would expect knowing rockets) nothing was happening. It kept making noise and the pump was working but now water was collected and the sound did not stop until I turned the machine off. What could be wrong with the machine?

  • @jdrobison1967

    Good video, Keith. How often do you replace parts? I probably average a dozen shots per week on my Duetto.

    • @Veniacoffeeroaster
      @Veniacoffeeroaster  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      John Robison At your usage you will likely not have any need for 2-3 years, although it is dependent on how often you back-flush and quality of your water. If everything operates smoothly, you don't notice any leaks or drips, and you have normal flow rate of water, you probably don't need to replace internal gaskets in your brewgroup.

    Thank you for this perfect video! Please, let me ask you for any help. I bougt used E61 group maschine and the water goes always through the group. When I've followed your video and disassambled the group, I've noticed that whten the paw is in the middle position, the upper valve in the group is a little bit shifted up. So when I put the paw down, it opens the lower valve. So the water goes always through. The gaskets seems to be ok. Do you have any idea?

      Inspect the gicleur, hold up to the light. If you can see scale or debris we suggest soaking in a decalcifying agent or distilled vinegar. We don't recommend trying to use something to ream through the hole as this often widens the opening causing too high of flow through. You can contact us with your machine details and we can find an appropriate replacement for you.

      You need to take the electrical leads off the pump and measure with a meter (when you would expect the pump to be running). If there is voltage there, then you need a new motor/pump. If no voltage there, then you have to figure out why. If your machine has a low water shut off, make sure that is not the cause.
