I love coming across stuff like this - can we all just take a moment to appreciate these were the days when Steve Lukather lived and still does - 45 mins from the club and it was often a case of - where are you - fancy doing a song. The line up here is immense. Harvey, Anthony Jackson, Lee, etc - just in a club on a Friday in LA and all of a sudden Steve Lukather turns up and just nails it. God I miss these times. Mid 80s to 90s were sublime. What an absolute heap of talent. I so so wish I lived in LA in those days. This music still holds up now. And, just think in this era what songs these musicians were playing on. Beautiful.
Easy when Steve was snorting a pound of coke.

I'm here because as a ten-year-old I heard "Mr. Briefcase" on the radio. 30 years later, I found Rit, Vol 1 on vinyl and now I'm into all things Lee Ritenour. He's exceptional, a generous musician who surrounds himself with talented people and has big fun with them. Thanks for posting.
Steve Lukather is mind blowing!
the most lyrical of all players for me. Even when he shreds he is so in control of everything going on harmonically...
absolutely
He has the RnR element!👍🏻
I love seeing Phil Perry singing in Portuguese (some times is more of another language 😂, but I still love it...). What a fantastic singer !!!
That show make me smile. Love Lee Ritenour. Amazing how he loves brazilian music... Anthony Jackson wonderfull in the bass !!!
Thank you for posting !
At 69 and a guitar player I have just discovered one of my favorite guitarist of all times. So incredibly talented and joyful as he plays on numerous utube videos, even today. wow!
My favorite jazz guitar lee ritenour out of this world
Anthony Jackson is a master on this whole recording..absolute inspiration!
No player looks like they’re having more fun than Lee Ritenour. Larry Carlton is a peer but he often looks like he’s getting a root canal after the show. It’s fun watching someone as talented as Rit and who appreciates his situation.
Anthony JAckson ALWAYS seems to been having the most epic orgasmic moment! :V
Funny cause its true!
Abraham Laboriel
Interesting and valid perspective
2 reasons , i, from a player's perspective, think larry seems to work laborisly are that he prefers "rock" rather than jazz, and jazz IS EASIER to play...usually MUCH EASIER to play!!
This is in my opinion the best live dvd ever made!
Its just so freaking magical!!! And the band is a total beast! My God Harvey Mason and Anthony Jackson aint kidding around! The dynamic groove that the duo lays down is so insanely good! Even after watching it over the past 15 years for like 150 times, it still blows my mind every time and i am never bored with this! :D Everyone BUY IT!!
+Robin Lindberg
Fantastic playing, great music, and the engineer should be shot.
i was going to leave a comment but you said it way better than I ever could
Fact🙌
Antony Jackson is incredible. Wow!!
I've been fortunate to see Anthony Jackson at theBlue Note NYC .He's an astoundingly MARVELOUS musician in ANY possible musical scenario . Stunning .
As for Lee Ritenour ... equal praises . Again at the BlueNote NYC . Simply WONDERFUL .
Lee’s music never ages. He is a great guitarist along with a wonderful band.
Best performance ever made in history of rock and jazz
What a sensational group of musicians. Always loved Lee Ritenour (does he ever age) but that vocalist is out of this world.
Check phil perry forever
Been watching a lot of Lee and Larry and love them both............Lee really shows his versatility here.
what a pleasure to look and to listen to!
Phill Perry singing in Portuguese João Bosco and Djavan’s songs is amazing 👏👏👏
One of my favorite guitar players of jazz-fussion. He can surprise you in every solo
Top of the heap here folks. So, so beautiful. For todays "Auto Tuned" kids, this is what you call real God given musical talent and ability. This is what years of hard work gets you, not something that's whipped up on a computer in ones bedroom!! Can I just say Mr Harvey Mason, Please!!!
The best I've seem in my entire life of 78 years.
I grew up listening to these songs and I still know them all. I've watched all my dad's DVDs countless times
Same here! If I were good enough I could probably write down everything from "Portrait" and "Collection"! Cheers from Brazil!
Man, what an honor to see Paulinho da Costa and João Bosco sharing the stage with Lee Ritnour. Paulinho is from my hometown. What a privilege to watch this performance. Phill Perry, Ivan Lins is thrilled to see you feature and interpreting one of his famous peace, called “Alercrim.” This song is one of my favorite songs by Ivan Lins. I love to hear you singing in Portuguese. You are fantastic, Mr. Phill Perry.
Phill canta Harlequin tudo errado ,mas na voz dele qualquer erro fica top
@@Yyz7364 português é uma língua difícil. A improvisação e base melódica enriquece a música.
Maravilha!! Salve o Brasil. 20 anos assistindo este concerto e nao cansa!
I'm a big fan of Lee, but as a bassist - Anthony Jackson on this does his usual play his ass off! Absolutely fantastic playing!
he is a legend! Also big fan of Lee and Anthony
This is my AJ Bible!
The one where AJ plays with Michel Camilo at Altos is also on another level
Lee and Steve playing a Stevie wonder song ! It gives me goosebumps every time I hear it.
Fantastic guitarist , I am Brazilian , and see such a song , kind of mix of Brazilian and American music finally this is heaven Thanks Lee Ritenour !! Sorry about my English.
Jazz and Bossa Nova are a dream made in heaven. The perfect symbiosis...like twins...inseparable!
I used to own this on DVD and often played it at house parties I entertained. I still have the plastic box but the discs mysteriously disappeared many years ago, which is most frustrating. That said, if they were indeed stolen, I can only imagine the thief has impeccable taste in music. It was wonderful to be able to revisit this outstanding concert over 15 years later (i.e. after the disappearance of my own DVDs).
I have them here in Eagan, MN, and I’m thoroughly enjoying them and have for decades. Thanks, Buddy. 😉
Lee is always a pleasure to listen to. His chops as well as his tasteful economy are rightly the envy of the guitarist demographic.
I was born in 1990. Maybe that's why this music feels so perfect to me.
Lee belting out Uptown like Wes is simply incredible to watch
All the songs are perfect, I personally love "Cause We've Ended As Lovers" 43:18. That "dialogue" between guitars is incredible.
O fechamento com Paulinho da Costa é incrível, incrível banda!!
Good things come from Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro. Paulinho Costa is representing us well.
Paulinho da Costa !!! Brasil !!
1:33,50 Viva o Brasil. João bosco e Paulinho de Castro dois monstros da música brasileira 🎉❤
Great Lee.This man and Pat Metheny, are, for me the best of the jazz world, today. Thanks Vadim.Pt.
To me they are the best also, because they force them to be melodic.
Way over the top. This band, this music, the level of refinement in every aspect of the performance.. one moment feels like a “regular”, hardcore traditional jazz gig, and the moment after it’s fusion, then sophisticated “pop” with all out solos. Jaw continuously drops...
Supergroup, 😜💞💖, thanks to all my friends who have been played with!
One of the most masterful musical experiences ever to be created. Love all the musicians here, hats off to Harvey Mason , he makes the drum sound almost melodic !
Love those octaves on stolen moments!
Drummer was there all the way man and anthony jacksons a beast
When virtuosos on the stage... Artwork from heaven.
Cheers from Indonesia
Super excelente. Show maravilhoso com a participação de músicos brasileiros. Nota 100000000000
Incredible Show from Sometime Ago
Lee Ritenour always knows how to put a hell of a band together especially when you've got Brian Bromberg, Harvey Mason, Bob James, Ernie Watts just to name a few and then you add fellow guitar hero Steve Lukather to the mix, you really have got a true showcase of the best of the best on the same stage. This is real music played by musicians who can really play and what an unbeliveable collection of talent assembled for a magical concert.
Bosco and Lukather were awesome.
Mr Jackson, you are a god among men! Flawless!!
Lee is typically so smooth that we forget how ridiculous a player he is. Jaw-dropping skills.
Lee can only smile and enjoy ..being backed-up with these top-notch musicians...this is a treat for anyone there that night at the Cocoanutgrove!!
Cantan con el corazon los instrumentos tambien un gran gusto escychar estos laburos
Realmente de los mejores shows de la historia.
Wow, the first part of video Lee's playing night rhythm is really good 👏
Utterly intoxicating. Steve Lukather way before his time as well!
Listen from 1980. Great
This is a 1990 concert !!
Amazing indeed. Goosebumps indeed. Thanks Phil🗣
FORMIDABLE ! GREAT MUSICIANS ! Le duo Steve Lukather et LeeRitenour ! MAGNIFIQUE ! LA GRACE !
What a lineup! I know of just about everyone on hand. And from the past, Tuck & Patti. Lukather on Guitar? Joao Bosco from Brasil! And longtime Ritenour favorites, Phil Perry and Ernie Watts! And so on... Thanks for posting!

Sensacional, grande show, grande Lee Ritenour...
I reckon the Stolen moments album is one of his best!
Ooh.....how I miss the 80s.....
This is from 1990 !
I would have loved to be there to witness this magic
I agree although I would have passed out and missed the whole thing - just extraordinary. How can a group of musicians come together to produce perfection 🎵
After this generation died out, i hope the world still carry on this music. But i doubt it. This is the last generation. Sad.
Whenever you witness great musicians getting down, it's always a powerful experience
Music is just like a team sport. Everyone has their position. There has to be chemistry and they need to execute perfectly. Rit and this group of talented musicians is simply. amazing
What a classic; watching this video since forever👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Yes, this is the origin of Fourplay. Genesis where Harvey, Bob and Lee came together and made a historical collaboration which in the future became a legendary Fourplay, including Nathan East.
Thank you for posting! This has to be some of of the finest jazz musicians of the last 25 years for sure. This music is the best!! I hope the next generation of musicians carries this music on for future generations to enjoy.
I owned the CD's part 1 and had been broken in 2005. In early 2011 I tried to find on youtube, especially "Etude" and "Cause we ended as Lover" but never get the better quality. And then, I just come here right now.. thanks +Vadim Shinnik ..!!!
Love this live concert! Wow! ❤️❤️ 👏👏👏

so amazing and hard playing. Giant band! Bosses
I learned of Lee Ritenour first through Fourplay and then discovered his vast solo catalog. Don't know why he left the quartet but after watching this video he may be too big creatively to be in any one group. Salute.
Thank you for posting , Vadim ! This hard to find concert has been on my list for a long time - Lee and friends definitely do NOT disappoint !
Wow steve lukather
That was incredibly groovey!
✌💚&🌹!
