Beautifully filmed and really impressive how easy it is to follow even without any narration. Great result too obviously! I have an old X-Wing, but have lost the cockpit canopy and a couple of the laser canons sadly. Wonder if you can 3D print them...?
@@cameralabs Theoretically, yes. It would be really hard to accurately create those in the computer, let alone print to that level of quality. A resin type of printer would be the best bet. Or some kind of casting process instead of 3D printing.
Unless you get them done with someone who has a really nice setup, you'll probably notice that the parts are 3d printed. Plus the plastic may not match. But if you know someone with a printer, it's probably a cheap option. You could print the "metal" frame of the canopy and glue in some clear plastic panels. Printing clear, even with resin, isn't going to be clear. I may be wrong. Technology advances so fast. Go to thingiverse and see if someone has already modeled your cannon parts.

I never expected to see retrobrighting on this channel, and I'm so glad you showed it in timelapse, it was super satisfying to watch!!!
It looked like the clear cover was still a bit yellow at the end. Does retrobrighting not work well on transparent plastics?
Second only to the Green Oven (which is my favorite restore you’ve done!!) So awesome to see something from my childhood restored!!
I had a friend who had one of these when we were kids. I was awestruck just watching the toy being disassembled!!!
This was a golden era when they didn't make things difficult to repair.
He literally had to drill pieces of it off
@@BenDover-tk3jj You consider THAT being difficult? FFS
@@00XNine yes, an xwing model now is much easier to repair, you don't have to drill peices out and replace them. I would know because I own both of them
@@BenDover-tk3jj if you think having to take a drill to pop 4 holes in a PLASTIC TOY designed in 1977 is difficult, you've got issues.
I don't think this is that easy, it's not rocket science, but if you watch the video you'll notice that you need more than just a drill. Soldering was done, not everyone does that or had the tools.
Beautifully filmed and really impressive how easy it is to follow even without any narration. Great result too obviously! I have an old X-Wing, but have lost the cockpit canopy and a couple of the laser canons sadly. Wonder if you can 3D print them...?
Interesting question, how good can you 3d print clear materials?
@@JangoAC no idea on the cockpit, I was thinking more for the guns
@@JangoAC in theory, if you use a resin printer with extremely good resin, you can achieve this
I'm just impressed all the pieces are there and the wings stayed open originally (had to prop mine open with checker pieces)
Imagine doing such a good restoration job that you improved the product from it's original state.

I called my child self to watch this with me, and he says thank you ☺️💖
This mayn throwing stickers like he slapping steaks on the grill. How you so accurate? Amazing.
OMG I had one of these as a kid! It was one of my all-time best Christmas gifts. I wish I had kept mine.
Can you even imagine how many epic battles were faught and won with this fighter or how many young jedi piloted this very craft
The stories this thing could tell
I've thought about that. I wonder if it had one owner and then sat on a shelf or something. The wings still lock open. The laser cannons don't fall off. The landing gear stays open. We played with mine until that thing wouldn't stay open unless you held it and forget about the landing gear locking in place and the cannons fell off a lot because we took them apart so often :( This thing is in amazing condition -- both before and after restore. I'm jealous ;)

👏👏👏👏😎✌🏻Awesome work!
Like Vader used to say: "Impressive, most impressive." 😎👍🏼
The X-Wing is one of the coolest things in star wars, this video is awesome
When the no budget restoration vid is way more impressive than the half a billion dollar new star wars movies.
One X-wing? Great, we're saved. :|
I JUST SAW THAT!!

Master, I don't believe it.
That is why you fail...
That was awesome. Brings me back. Thanks for the vid
We missed you!😍
"Impressive. MOST impressive."
Who needs hallmark Christmas movies when you have this
I remember in 1977 I was 9 years old going to to Child World in Dedham, MA with my Mom's b/f driving me, and I had $10 and was so excited to get this X-Wing. I got there and they had a whole isle of TIE fighters, Millennium Falcons, Star Wars figures and it was crowded by other kids and their parents. I found the XWing and to my utter sadness it was like $25. I was so bummed out. But my Mom's b/f felt bad for me and said "here kid" and gave me the extra $15. I was soooo happy! 56 years later - here it is brand new!
Amazing work love the repaint of the R2D2 as well . Bringing toys back to their former glory :)
Mind blowing!! I about puked when you pulled the stickers off though. But then you put the new ones on perfectly and my jaw fell on the floor. You're a Jedi master for sure!!
That motor did absolutely nothing, yet had a gear on it. At least you replaced the LED. Great job on this one.
It was the laser sound..mustve been cheaper than putting in a circuit board with sound
Obviously you know nothing about classic Star Wars Toys. Nothing.
@@jptang1701 No need to be such an arsehole about it. Not everyone is an expert.
My Millenium Falcon is today around 30 years old but grey in color and lucky me spare me this. Thanks for the video.👍
13:26 I don’t know why, but this really caught me off guard
This is one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen! You do an amazing job! I was absolutely transfixed on watching and not having music or talking made it even better. I’m going to literally watch everything you put up. Thank You for all your hard work.

Just hit me right in the nostalgia. A very dear friend had one of these. Was so incredibly jealous at the time.
These things didn't look this good when they were new. This guy is a wizard.
You're amazing. And I'm FOREVER impressed by your ability to put stickers on so perfect! I've NEVER had stickers look that good! Keep up with the awesome!!!
*in my head* I hope he repaints R2D2
*30 seconds later*
OH MY GOD HES DOING IT
I wasn't the only one! I knew he wouldn't let us down :D
Same!
What an Awsome job thanks for having me along for the ride much appreciated
Luke returns from Dagobah to get his x-wing detailed by, "This Guy!".
I can hear all the starters collectors screaming when you took the stickers off
...from their mom’s basement
I felt a great disturbance in the force...
As if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror?
Personally I like to see original "honest age" piece's AND fully restored piece's in the same collection. I like to see what they look originally when purchased next to one that shows genuine age. Mayby that's just me
Either way, an excellent restoration as usual.
I don't even collect these but I was like "aw"
The restored piece still looked amazing
I almost expected a voice at the end of this vid to announce "Byyyyy Kenner!"
Takes me back 45 years, when me and my cousin played together, on the weekends.
