Just bought the DeLonghi, had the Breville, loved it but kept running into issues after 3 years. So far the DeLongni is produces bitter coffee, trying to dial in and hopefully fix it.

You need to get a better portafilter for the DeLonghi. And the narrower diameter makes it more bitter, and the grinder is limited. So, yeah, better with the Breville for a similar price.
Looking to find a machine that will make regular coffee as well as the other specialty coffees I prefer. Can you give me any ideas? I like the DeLonghi Prestigio but after watching this video I'm not inclined to purchase it. Thank you for any help!
It sounds like a super automatic is better for you. Simpler to choose and make drink options. The Philips is easy and a great budget option (also on sale): th-cam.com/video/wG25rzGQpks/w-d-xo.html You can also get a standalone grinder to help brew regular coffee. I overstated the impact of the portafilter diameter...but understated the impact of the filter basket itself. Upgrading the DeLonghi basket greatly reduces the gap in espresso quality. I also tested the IMS basket which works well too: amzn.to/45nFvSt (affiliate link)

Look into the portafilter I mentioned. It makes a world of difference. We have another video on dialing in the Specialista.

What was your grind size for the Breville? You mentioned it for the Delonghi but not for the Breville.
I believe around 9-11 grind size.
