I am a New Orleans native as well, and I must say you are on point. I can recall one time advising a wealthy, elderly couple to go back to their hotel room and take off their expensive jewelry. The lady wore a fur coat and a LV purse! They said they were going to eat at a restaurant, but it was so late a night. They thanked me for letting them know. I probably saved their lives.
As a native, I thank you for your honest post. Most people have never visited my city and will just stereotype it as just drunk people on Bourbon Street. You are one of the few reviewers who give you a more realistic view and let folks know that there is SO MUCH MORE TO DO BESIDES GET DRUNK ON BOURBON STREET. I agreed with a lot of what he had said... except I've never had trouble finding a quality hotel for under $100 a night (aside from Mardi Gras time). You can find plenty of places to stay for a nice price if you put a small effort in.
This guy is dead on. I'm from Houston but I often visit Nola a lot. When I go to New Orleans I don't worry about money yeah your gonna spend a bit but honestly it's well worth it enjoy the experience. the jazz is amazing the people are mostly awesome, its really a great place.
Appreciate the comments about the friendly people of N/O. Lots of cities have beautiful sights, but the people are what makes the experience complete. BTW, I`m a native of Iowa who came down here for work, fell in love, and never left. Been here 26 yrs..

I'm from New Orleans and drunk tourist isn't bad unless your out at around 2:00. And you're probably drunk if you're walking around French Quarter late at night. And also, parking is hard, but you'll find a place within 15 minutes if you find the right streets. Also, the hotels are expensive, because they're nice hotels. The restaurants are expensive because the food is good. Not everything revolves around tourists. And the heat is only bad in the Summer. And, you'll only get pick pocketed if you're not aware of your surroundings (most people from Nola are very aware). If you're looking for a nice shopping/restaurant street, then I suggested Magazine Street. Also, you're very right. All the food here is amazing, it's delicious.
I have been several times and have always stayed in the French Quarter, I have never paid over $100 a night. It not hard to stay under $10 a meal as long as you avoid the tourist spots and the high end restaurants. There are fantastic little restaurants everywhere you go that don't charge an arm and a leg.
New Orleans earned a special place in my heart after just 4 days in that amazing city! The food was out of this world... literally EVERYWHERE we went (def try GW Fins for seafood & Cafe Du Monde for beignets) But I can’t express enough, how much I absolutely fell head over heels for THE PEOPLE of New Orleans!!! Such a special place! ♥️
New Orleans always sounds worse on tv than it actually is. When I’m riding through my city I’m not worried about the crime and I was at Endymion Mardi Gras Parade in February and thats the safest Ive ever felt at Mardi Gras. obviously don’t go down dark allies, or go into places like Hollygrove or Lower 9th Ward. The rest of the city is great NOPD is getting better. I’ve been out in the a bad part of the city at 1am and it was fine, so don’t be afraid of Nola. We have our good times and bad times.
Just because you feel safe doesn’t mean you are safe and just because nothing happened in a bad area at 1 am doesn’t mean you aren’t increasing your odds of being a victim. Chances are, you’ll be alright no matter where you are, but the truth is that New Orleans is one of the most crime-ridden cities in the country, so just keep that in mind when you make decisions.
Does anybody know anything about Timber Bluff Lane, area code 70131? I have the opportunity to relocate there but don't know anything about the area.. Any advice would be much appreciated..
Though I live in Las Vegas now, I'm born and raised in New Orleans. Good points in this video, especially going to NOLA during months like April and October. Those are the months when the weather is usually best and French Quarter Fest is definitely a must see. Excellent music and don't get me started on the food!
I live in New Orleans and I love this city. With that in mind, there are a couple things that tourists should look out for. First, do not wear open-toed shoes. New Orleans is a very walkable city and the most of the tourist attractions are relatively close to each other. Another thing to look out for are beggars. Like he said in the video, locals here are very friendly. However, some of the beggars will try to force to give them money. Some will say things like "I bet you that I can tell where you got them shoes at!" While you might think they are going to guess what store you bought them at, they will actually say "you got them on your feet!" If they do this, just keep on walking. Finally, many of the streets in the city are not pronounced the way that they look. If you need help with a street name, just ask the concierge at your hotel or anyone in a nearby business.
Spot on. Hubs was told not to fall for the shoes bit, and when we were at the river, he was stopped and he fell for it. Could not get rid of the guy. Cost him 10$ Other than that. I ❤ NOLA.
I really enjoy your videos. I am from Australia and have visited NO twice. What I love best is walking in garden district, cemetery tour, plantation tour and the food!!!
The cemeteries are definitely one of the most unique things about New Orleans. My grandfather is in St. Louis Cemetery #3, which is right by City Park and the Fair Grounds race track. He loved going to the horse races there...so much so that not long before he passed, he bought a plot in the huge mausoleum that faces the track. He left us specific instructions that when he was interred, that he would be facing the track, so that "he could see the horses running by."
The native bird. The Mosquito are the size of dragon flies. That's about the only one that is aggravating. Termites are a huge problem for the people that live here, but they are only harmful to homes.
We were just in NOLA a couple of days ago. Saw some palmetto bugs, but the only thing I got bitten by was a horsefly. No mosquitoes in the areas we were in for that period.
Everything he said as "bad" about New Orleans exists to greater extremes across the country... crime, parking, drunks, costs - try Washington DC , Chicago, NYC, Cleveland, Miami... Those places make New Orleans look quite cheap and tame

All of his warnings are directed at tourists who think they have to stay in the Quarter to get the "authentic New Orleans experience." That's a little like saying that Walt Disney World is the authentic American experience. The French Quarter is definitely worth seeing, so give it a few hours. But then get out of the French Quarter and see the real New Orleans. You like history? N. O. has more sites of historical interest than most cities in the United States--most of them outside the Quarter. And other things worth seeing--including restaurants that won't break the bank (there are neighborhood restaurants that would get five stars in other cities). Walk on Magazine Street. Check out South Carrolton Avenue. Tulane and Loyola are opposite a beautiful park, Audubon Park. The New Orleans Museum of Art (outstanding) is in another park you'll enjoy seeing. See the Lakefront and Gentilly. Go to Metairie (Bucktown, Fat City) or Kenner or Jefferson or even the West Bank. Or the North Shore--you'll find outstanding restaurants in small towns north of Lake Pontchartrain.
Totally agree; and visiting different neighborhoods gives a much more authentic experience of what New Orleans really is. Telling people to stick to Royal and Bourbon is the exact opposite advice I give people!

Just got back from new Orleans and agree with all your points and id throw in poor road conditions in with disliking the driving. While having beignets at cafe du monde, a bird landed on my table and stole a piece off my dish. Hate #6 is that bird.
I managed to get Holiday Inn and a Mariott for $80 to $100 per night. They were both very good and close to the French Quarter. Being from London I didn't notice the prices.
Had a great time here last week! Took uber (be aware an occasional driver will turn map off and take you the pricy route) and the trolly once which I found time consuming but only $3 for 24hr pass. So parking wasnt our problem. Stayed at The Crowne Plaza which was pretty reasonable and nice accommodations located right on Canal St. Sticky a bit and we quit a walkin tour 3/4 of the way through. People were friendly and welcoming. We did not hang out much past 9pm. Enjoyed Audubon Park, the aquarium, local souvenir shops, St Louis Cathedral in Jackson Square, Marti Gras and Katrina museum right there too plus Cafe du Monde. Chartehouse for drinks and Natchez brunch cruise, Garden district tour included Lafayette Cemetary #1. Would do it all again!
We're in New Orleans for Spring Break so we just rewatched this video to see if we are missing anything. I can't get over the prices here. There are several tours we'd love to do, but as a family of 4 just the tickets run us close to $100 per tour/admission. It's crazy! We decided to spend on restaurants and do "self-guided" tours other than one ghost tour. I am really surprised by the prices.

Anyone ever been to the Wax Museum? Its pretty cool and spooky at the same time, but it is well worth a visit . Then there is the Ripleys Believe It or Not Museum , probably the the most awesome place I have ever been too. So much to explore and look at. I also miss going in the several antique gift shops around New Orleans. So much to see..... Greatest city ever.
If possible, come to New Orleans in October through April. They are the months with the nicest weather. Bring mosquito spray and sunscreen. It’s not uncommon to get above 90 degrees. Bring rainwear since New Orleans gets a lot of rain. But I love the city for the houses and hospitality. I live fairly close to the city, but I plan on moving either in New Orleans or closer to it since it’s one of my favorite cities.
Shadow Night We usually go down the first week in October. The weather is still nice, but the only thing we have to check on is LSU and Saints home games. Great city!

My son and I recently visited, although we’re not party people! Our hotel was very reasonable - in the Garden District. We used the streetcars to get to the city quickly, and also to the other side of town to the Audubon. We also took a ferry to a nearby island (I forgot the name), and took a free tour of the Mississippi River system. The only drawback is that we visited in August. It was really hot and humid.
haha your videos are always funny and heartwarming. i've got relatives living in new orleans (and some other places in usa) and i've been there 3 times now. really love the people and the food/culture! i've even went shrimping for a couple of months with my uncle. keep doing your thing!

NOLA truly is a special city. I wouldn’t have wanted to grow up in any other place in the south. As my brother said “its the only place where kids get into bars when they get their driver’s license at 16.” Theres so much to love about this city, especially the food and the music.
l've ben twice in New Orleans, one of my favorite cities, and both times l stayed at a hotel that cost just about $45 per night; and it was a perfectly good hotel, albeit without breakfast, only coffee. l emphatically agree about Louisiana cooking! Lovely children!

I went to both LA and New Orleans in February, on the tail end of Mardi Gras, and the hotel was more expensive than the one in LA and I went for the cheapest one! The food was also quite expensive and there were shootings on Bourbon Street during Mardi Gras, as someone who lives in London that scared the crap out of me! However, New Orleans is still my favourite city in the world because it's so awesome and I miss it everyday. The people are lovely, I made sooooo many friends, the whole atmosphere is incredible, the food is the best I've EVER had and I LOVE that there's live music EVERYWHERE in both the French Quarter and Frenchmen Street. I honestly can't wait to go back!

I was there last year with my wife for our honeymoon. We loved it and really want to visit again. Our holiday package had us staying at The Holiday Inn on Loyola which wasn't too far to walk. I was aware of street scammers but it didn't ruin our trip
First time going to Nola I'm from Los Angeles..loved the city..the people were friendly and the food was great..the city has a unique vibe..people say the city is ghetto but honestly me being from LA it didn't bother me have an open mind carry yourself properly and be sure to get off bourbon street and hit some of the local bars which are on the outskirts of the French quarter
It’s best to leave your car at the hotel you’re staying at. If you stay in the French Quarter you will probably be able to walk to most of the places you want to see. If you want to go to the zoo or something, you can take a taxi, or there might be a shuttle you can catch.
I’m from Hattiesburg Mississippi and am in my 40s, I used to go to New Orleans all the time when I was younger, one thing I learned from my dad and came in handy was get a motel room in Slidell most like holiday inn and budget hut are normal prices and it’s only about a 20 min drive, also when I went to just straight party I would park off of Elysian Fields close to the French market and just walk everywhere until I was done then would catch a nap in my car and drive home
We were thinking of going to New Orleans. After seeing this video and the 5 things you mentioned one may "hate", I definitely do not wish to go and deal with the crowds, the heat and the drunks. Its far too much walking for me too and thanks for posting and helping me to make up my mind.

What I don't like about New Orleans is driving in Louisiana in general, driving in the French Quarter, and finding parking and the smell. Its by the bayou so it stinks! What I love is the music, the architecture, the food and the great friendly hospitality.

Can we also add the stench of some of the streets? Its the heat that makes it worse. I stayed in the Cornstalk hotel and it was just amazing. The French quarter has an old world charm to it and I think thats why people like going besides the voodoo, ghosts and vampire tours.
World war 2 museum is a must. I wouldn’t recommend bringing kids anywhere outside of the main attractions if possible. And beware, bourbon street and the streets surrounding smell like piss all the time
Stay in the garden district and go downtown on the street car.There's a little bus route along the river front that connects with the street car.This will probably get you every where you want to go for 3 or 4 days.Bon ton roulet.
My wife and I went over Labor Day weekend, neither one of us had been there in 15 years or so, love the city and lots to take in, but he's right about the crime, keep an eye on your stuff and don't carry a purse(or at least with nothing of value in it). While taking a picture and not paying attention for 5 seconds, my wife had her purse stolen on bourbon street (at the bar fat catz) the first night there. Made things pretty interesting for her trying to board the flight back home without ID, but we eventually made it. However, definitely great food, blues and jazz, history and sights, just keep an eye on your stuff!!!
We just took our annual vacation to new orleans this past July and it was great! Everyone looked at us crazy for bringing three kids under 7, but we had an awesome time. I just posted the video of our whole trip. I agree with most of your video although we did find a decently priced hotel at Courtyard by Marriott on Iberville for only about $150 a night. Score! Prices go up during "peak" times. If you plan around those times and/or book early (like a 6 months to a year in advance) you'll get better rates. Taxi/uber and/or take the street cars for anything too far to walk!!! Consider staying just on the outskirts of NOLA proper (French Quarter), like Uptown, Metairie, Westbank. You'll get better rates. Use common sense when going into high traffic areas, remember you're visiting a tourist town so leave flashy jewelry at home. Put nothing in your back pockets & ladies do not carry huge purses. Pickpockets come here during our high tourist times to make their living!!! Our locals will tell you the best places to visit & eat. (Yes, I'm NOLA grown). An BOOBS aren't part of the Mardi Gras tradition. Came from drunk people on Bourbon. They do to year round. Has absolutely nothing to do with Mardi Gras!!! MG is a family tradition & if you catch out of the city, you'll see a Family Mardi Gras. Thank you Wolter for you kind words about my city!!!
Cafe Du Monde has a lot of locations. Do a google search and find one that is not right off Jackson Square and you will be able to walk right in and enjoy your beignets and cafe au lait with little or no wait. Several locations in the quarter, one in the CBD and others around town.

+Cathy .Teasley We rented bikes for a day and saw a lot of NOLA and got some exercize to cancel out the beignets. Streetcars and buses were great to get around also and rub elbows with the people who live there.
Audbon is pronounced Audubun not bon. Things in New Orleans are not pronounced how they're spelled. As far as hotels, stay in Jefferson Parish, plus the airport is there as well, not in Orleans Parish. Use NORTA, a Jazzy Pass is only $3 a day for unlimited use of the street cars and busses.

You will have to tell me what to see in Instanbul. We have not been yet. We are scheduled to visit in June 2015 so will need your help :) but I have heard great things. People, markets, sites and food in instanbul and then take a ferry ride between the two continents is supposed to be awesome
However, i must add that the kids at Tulane are great. They remind me of Berkeley kids e.g. very open minded and open to intelligent discourse. A fine university indeed, and renowned in producing outstanding and brilliant physicians.

He loved going to the horse races there...so much so that not long before he passed, he bought a plot in the huge mausoleum that faces the track. He left us specific instructions that when he was interred, that he would be facing the track, so that "he could see the horses running by."

The native bird. The Mosquito are the size of dragon flies. That's about the only one that is aggravating. Termites are a huge problem for the people that live here, but they are only harmful to homes.
We were just in NOLA a couple of days ago. Saw some palmetto bugs, but the only thing I got bitten by was a horsefly. No mosquitoes in the areas we were in for that period.

Everything he said as "bad" about New Orleans exists to greater extremes across the country... crime, parking, drunks, costs - try Washington DC , Chicago, NYC, Cleveland, Miami... Those places make New Orleans look quite cheap and tame

All of his warnings are directed at tourists who think they have to stay in the Quarter to get the "authentic New Orleans experience." That's a little like saying that Walt Disney World is the authentic American experience. The French Quarter is definitely worth seeing, so give it a few hours. But then get out of the French Quarter and see the real New Orleans. You like history? N. O. has more sites of historical interest than most cities in the United States--most of them outside the Quarter. And other things worth seeing--including restaurants that won't break the bank (there are neighborhood restaurants that would get five stars in other cities). Walk on Magazine Street. Check out South Carrolton Avenue. Tulane and Loyola are opposite a beautiful park, Audubon Park. The New Orleans Museum of Art (outstanding) is in another park you'll enjoy seeing. See the Lakefront and Gentilly. Go to Metairie (Bucktown, Fat City) or Kenner or Jefferson or even the West Bank. Or the North Shore--you'll find outstanding restaurants in small towns north of Lake Pontchartrain.

Totally agree; and visiting different neighborhoods gives a much more authentic experience of what New Orleans really is. Telling people to stick to Royal and Bourbon is the exact opposite advice I give people!

Just got back from new Orleans and agree with all your points and id throw in poor road conditions in with disliking the driving. While having beignets at cafe du monde, a bird landed on my table and stole a piece off my dish. Hate #6 is that bird.
I managed to get Holiday Inn and a Mariott for $80 to $100 per night. They were both very good and close to the French Quarter.
Being from London I didn't notice the prices.

I was at the Empress Hotel on ursulines Avenue it was pretty cheap. I went in the first weekend of June during the oyster festival.
It was a s******* but I was going by myself and I just need a place to crash for the night.
Had a great time here last week! Took uber (be aware an occasional driver will turn map off and take you the pricy route) and the trolly once which I found time consuming but only $3 for 24hr pass. So parking wasnt our problem. Stayed at The Crowne Plaza which was pretty reasonable and nice accommodations located right on Canal St. Sticky a bit and we quit a walkin tour 3/4 of the way through. People were friendly and welcoming. We did not hang out much past 9pm. Enjoyed Audubon Park, the aquarium, local souvenir shops, St Louis Cathedral in Jackson Square, Marti Gras and Katrina museum right there too plus Cafe du Monde. Chartehouse for drinks and Natchez brunch cruise, Garden district tour included Lafayette Cemetary #1. Would do it all again!
We're in New Orleans for Spring Break so we just rewatched this video to see if we are missing anything. I can't get over the prices here. There are several tours we'd love to do, but as a family of 4 just the tickets run us close to $100 per tour/admission. It's crazy! We decided to spend on restaurants and do "self-guided" tours other than one ghost tour. I am really surprised by the prices.

New Orleans is a great place, no doubt. I’m a Louisiana native, and I would LOVE for you to experience REAL Louisiana.
Anyone ever been to the Wax Museum? Its pretty cool and spooky at the same time, but it is well worth a visit . Then there is the Ripleys Believe It or Not Museum , probably the the most awesome place I have ever been too. So much to explore and look at. I also miss going in the several antique gift shops around New Orleans. So much to see..... Greatest city ever.
If possible, come to New Orleans in October through April. They are the months with the nicest weather. Bring mosquito spray and sunscreen. It’s not uncommon to get above 90 degrees. Bring rainwear since New Orleans gets a lot of rain. But I love the city for the houses and hospitality. I live fairly close to the city, but I plan on moving either in New Orleans or closer to it since it’s one of my favorite cities.
Shadow Night We usually go down the first week in October. The weather is still nice, but the only thing we have to check on is LSU and Saints home games. Great city!
You can get drunk at home, don’t waste your trip being hungover. That’s no fun. There’s so much to see and do here, what an amazing city!

My son and I recently visited, although we’re not party people! Our hotel was very reasonable - in the Garden District. We used the streetcars to get to the city quickly, and also to the other side of town to the Audubon. We also took a ferry to a nearby island (I forgot the name), and took a free tour of the Mississippi River system. The only drawback is that we visited in August. It was really hot and humid.
Advice for coming to New Orleans, bring lots of sun screen and bug spray. There are *a lot* of mosquitos here, and it gets extremely hot.

NOLA truly is a special city. I wouldn’t have wanted to grow up in any other place in the south. As my brother said “its the only place where kids get into bars when they get their driver’s license at 16.” Theres so much to love about this city, especially the food and the music.
l've ben twice in New Orleans, one of my favorite cities, and both times l stayed at a hotel that cost just about $45 per night; and it was a perfectly good hotel, albeit without breakfast, only coffee. l emphatically agree about Louisiana cooking!

I went to both LA and New Orleans in February, on the tail end of Mardi Gras, and the hotel was more expensive than the one in LA and I went for the cheapest one! The food was also quite expensive and there were shootings on Bourbon Street during Mardi Gras, as someone who lives in London that scared the crap out of me!
However, New Orleans is still my favourite city in the world because it's so awesome and I miss it everyday. The people are lovely, I made sooooo many friends, the whole atmosphere is incredible, the food is the best I've EVER had and I LOVE that there's live music EVERYWHERE in both the French Quarter and Frenchmen Street.
I honestly can't wait to go back!

I was there last year with my wife for our honeymoon. We loved it and really want to visit again. Our holiday package had us staying at The Holiday Inn on Loyola which wasn't too far to walk. I was aware of street scammers but it didn't ruin our trip

First time going to Nola I'm from Los Angeles..loved the city..the people were friendly and the food was great..the city has a unique vibe..people say the city is ghetto but honestly me being from LA it didn't bother me have an open mind carry yourself properly and be sure to get off bourbon street and hit some of the local bars which are on the outskirts of the French quarter
It’s best to leave your car at the hotel you’re staying at. If you stay in the French Quarter you will probably be able to walk to most of the places you want to see. If you want to go to the zoo or something, you can take a taxi, or there might be a shuttle you can catch.
streetcar is the best & the lines have been extended to more points in the city. sraight up to garden district cemeteries along the river too.
I’m from Hattiesburg Mississippi and am in my 40s, I used to go to New Orleans all the time when I was younger, one thing I learned from my dad and came in handy was get a motel room in Slidell most like holiday inn and budget hut are normal prices and it’s only about a 20 min drive, also when I went to just straight party I would park off of Elysian Fields close to the French market and just walk everywhere until I was done then would catch a nap in my car and drive home
We were thinking of going to New Orleans. After seeing this video and the 5 things you mentioned one may "hate", I definitely do not wish to go and deal with the crowds, the heat and the drunks. Its far too much walking for me too and thanks for posting and helping me to make up my mind.

What I don't like about New Orleans is driving in Louisiana in general, driving in the French Quarter, and finding parking and the smell. Its by the bayou so it stinks! What I love is the music, the architecture, the food and the great friendly hospitality.

Can we also add the stench of some of the streets? Its the heat that makes it worse. I stayed in the Cornstalk hotel and it was just amazing. The French quarter has an old world charm to it and I think thats why people like going besides the voodoo, ghosts and vampire tours.
World war 2 museum is a must. I wouldn’t recommend bringing kids anywhere outside of the main attractions if possible. And beware, bourbon street and the streets surrounding smell like piss all the time

Stay in the garden district and go downtown on the street car.There's a little bus route along the river front that connects with the street car.This will probably get you every where you want to go for 3 or 4 days.Bon ton roulet.
My wife and I went over Labor Day weekend, neither one of us had been there in 15 years or so, love the city and lots to take in, but he's right about the crime, keep an eye on your stuff and don't carry a purse(or at least with nothing of value in it). While taking a picture and not paying attention for 5 seconds, my wife had her purse stolen on bourbon street (at the bar fat catz) the first night there. Made things pretty interesting for her trying to board the flight back home without ID, but we eventually made it. However, definitely great food, blues and jazz, history and sights, just keep an eye on your stuff!!!
We just took our annual vacation to new orleans this past July and it was great! Everyone looked at us crazy for bringing three kids under 7, but we had an awesome time. I just posted the video of our whole trip. I agree with most of your video although we did find a decently priced hotel at Courtyard by Marriott on Iberville for only about $150 a night. Score! Thanks for the video :)

Prices go up during "peak" times. If you plan around those times and/or book early (like a 6 months to a year in advance) you'll get better rates. Taxi/uber and/or take the street cars for anything too far to walk!!! Consider staying just on the outskirts of NOLA proper (French Quarter), like Uptown, Metairie, Westbank. You'll get better rates. Use common sense when going into high traffic areas, remember you're visiting a tourist town so leave flashy jewelry at home. Put nothing in your back pockets & ladies do not carry huge purses. Pickpockets come here during our high tourist times to make their living!!! Our locals will tell you the best places to visit & eat. (Yes, I'm NOLA grown). An BOOBS aren't part of the Mardi Gras tradition. Came from drunk people on Bourbon. They do to year round. Has absolutely nothing to do with Mardi Gras!!! MG is a family tradition & if you catch out of the city, you'll see a Family Mardi Gras. Thank you Wolter for you kind words about my city!!!

Cafe Du Monde has a lot of locations. Do a google search and find one that is not right off Jackson Square and you will be able to walk right in and enjoy your beignets and cafe au lait with little or no wait. Several locations in the quarter, one in the CBD and others around town.

+Cathy .Teasley We rented bikes for a day and saw a lot of NOLA and got some exercize to cancel out the beignets. Streetcars and buses were great to get around also and rub elbows with the people who live there.

Audbon is pronounced Audubun not bon. Things in New Orleans are not pronounced how they're spelled. As far as hotels, stay in Jefferson Parish, plus the airport is there as well, not in Orleans Parish. Use NORTA, a Jazzy Pass is only $3 a day for unlimited use of the street cars and busses.

You will have to tell me what to see in Instanbul. We have not been yet. We are scheduled to visit in June 2015 so will need your help :) but I have heard great things. People, markets, sites and food in instanbul and then take a ferry ride between the two continents is supposed to be awesome
However, i must add that the kids at Tulane are great. They remind me of Berkeley kids e.g. very open minded and open to intelligent discourse. A fine university indeed, and renowned in producing outstanding and brilliant physicians.

I was out there Halloween weekend 2017 & the early October 2016. Love the city. Parking was not bad but then again I'm from Chicago and Chicago parking is bad
