Fun Fact: Spamton has extra dialogue if you select OUR DEAL twice in a row before buying the KeyGen. Here's how it goes: KRIS!! BUY [KeyGen] FROM ME AND GO TO QUEEN'S MANSION'S [Luxurious Basement Apartment]!! WHAT!? GO MYSELF!? KRIS!!!!! NO!!!!! THE MEN INSIDE WOULD THE MEN INSIDE WOULD
They probably threw Rouxls Kaard in the acid as well. The place were you fight him is in the middle of the acid river. But because he's a different darkner (One that doesn't reflect the queens fountain), he did not shrink
Additionally, if you were to buy the thorn ring, spare Berdly and go to the first Spamton battle and fight him, he’ll say “You think you can do that just because you bought my commemorative ring. You should’ve at least bought 2”
I'm surprised he missed that, since it's been well documented for over 2 and a half months now. Maybe it got lost amongst the other trivia? th-cam.com/video/-F1N9aOjc7g/w-d-xo.html
7:44 Can I just point out how genius the entrance for Spamton's shop is? Every shop in Undertale and Deltarune have a little fade out and fade in effect as a transition from screen to screen, but Spamton's shop doesn't even has that, he just pops up out of nowhere on your screen with that creepy face and creepy, melancholic music after going through some creepily silent rooms with just the sound of the wind before entering it, it just makes the weirdness of Spamton even more apparent and just shows how Toby pays attention to the tiniest of details, what a genius!
31:38 When you're skipping through the first Swatchling's dialogue, you can see "There was a mint under you electric cage. Don't make a mistake, this is not a hotel" seeming to refer to the named-by-Asgore song "Can You Even Call This A Hotel, There's Not Even A Mint On My Pillow Or Anything"
Fun fact: It’s almost directly implied that Spamton might be the way he is in part because of Queen having him thrown in the acid river. She mentions that the acid causes things to shrink, which could explain Spamton’s tiny size compared to other Addisons, and could also explain why he is obsessed with being BIG. Also, sweet, cap’n and kk say that spamton hired them to sneak into queen's mansion, and when you ask him why he doesn’t go, he says that the men inside would do something to him, referring to swatch and the swatchlings, who probably were the ones to throw him in the river. And finally, of course there’s the lines, I USED TO BE NOTHING BUT THE E-MAIL GUY, NOW I'M THE [[It Burns! Ow! Stop! Help Me! It Burns!]] GUY! and VACATIONING IN [Burning acid] WHILE YOU SOAK IN THE [Hyperlink Blocked].
@@PositiveLycan But in one of his basic fight attacks theres an attack where he shoots out little spamtons that run, the little white bits are his legs.
Spamton keeps referencing his "brands" when you talk to him in his shop. When you buy the bow tie from Swatch's shop, the description says that its tag is cut off, implying it was once a Spamton-brand bow tie.
@@pengie-gw2lu It would be strange for Swatch to cut off his own brand's name tag, though. To me, it's more likely that the bow ties are left over product from when Spamton was still a [BIG SHOT], so they removed his name from the bow ties to distance themselves from his tarnished name.
Ive heard it said that kris yelling could be because they are scared what will happen to them after seeing spamton collapse without his strings. I think kris might've related more to spamton than any other character snd so when spamton achieved the goal that they also had and collapsed because of it, it was terrifying to them
I have my own theory that Gaster himself could be the one pulling the strings behind everything that happens in Deltarune. The reason why Jevil and Spamton are both insane could be because of Gaster, perhaps resulting in them becoming followers? The fact that both characters strongly believe in becoming godlike and gaining infinite knowledge makes it seem that Gaster, who is known for being everywhere and nowhere at the same time, possibly tricked them for his own nefarious reasons. Maybe the reason why Kris is so distraught after the Spamton fight is because they realize that they’re going down the same path?
I think it's interesting that both Spamton and Jevil are largely forgotten by the world as a whole. Jevil was forgotten locked away in a dungeon, and Spamton apparently lost the massive amount of wealth he had accumulated in the blink of an eye. This could be an interesting parallel to Gaster, who had everything he stood for yanked away from him, and he was kept separated from everyone by being scattered across time and space.
@@IceFireofVoid Yeah, that's true! Hadn't even thought of that. All the don't forget themes, the secret bosses being discarded (the joker card and spam), and themes of fitting in really are important. All this really leads me to believe that the secret boss next chapter will be Asgore's flowers. I know it sounds crazy but think about it. They're discarded, being placed in a trashcan, and Toriel is moving on from their relationship (the opposite of don't forget). Also throw in the fact that Toby loves subtle references, the secret boss being a flower that only exists in that house because of Asgore and Toriel's relationship is a pretty spot on reference to Asriel, who turned into a flower and only existed because of Asgore and Toriel. TLDR: The next secret boss is a flower!
@@rolettuce9654 considering the potential TV theming of chp 3, it's entirely possible the Light World flowers create something themed around gardening/landscaping shows
Yeah and Spamton seems remember Jevil as he says he'll surpass that [clown around town] or I could be wrong, I'm not sure I just entered cus of youtube algorithm
“Cungadero” a small red car with a yellow lightning bolt design. Could be used as a replacement word for swears (also has Mexican connotations, I think they use it for when they forget the word for something, eg.a lot of English speaking people say ‘thingymabob’)
@@snowflake_18 I don't think so, he got the crystal once he became Neo, it's possible it was Gaster who told him about it (after all it looks like after that call he started looking for the machine)
@@snowflake_18 When you look at the Shadow Crystal that Jevil gave you in the dark world, you see a bunch of toys scattered on the floor. You see the abandoned classroom from which you entered the dark world. If Spamton stared into the crystal, it would give him a glimpse of the library. Maybe he saw the computers and they had the default Windows background picture, with green plains and open skies? I dunno but seems far-fetched. The Shadow Crystal doesn't have anything to do with his obsession with heaven I think.
Strangely, Spamton seems to realize that he's part of a video game (or some sort of pre-written narrative, at least) at the end of chapter 2's Snowgrave route. He even seemingly gets mad that he was only supposed to be a secret boss. It reminds me of the part in Inscryption where an NPC complains that he didn't get to be a Boss Fight. Combined with Ralsei being worried when you don't check on Susie like you're 'supposed' to, it does imply that some in-game character is specifically setting up the story to go the way it does, and that the Snowgrave route is messing that up.
This all ties into the whole idea that "your choices dont matter" snowgrave isn't supposed to be about simply causing genocide like undertale, it's about the player getting their choices back. even spamton says this.
I'm just now realizing how unsettling it feels to walk out of a somewhat long, emotional, and creepy sidequest to then have one of the characters try to convince you that it didn't mean anything. the heck is wrong with you ralsei
Counter Point - Taking people’s minds off of things is a way to help prevent a panic attack, and Kris was clearly distressed. I don’t understand why people interpret Ralsei’s dialogue as being one of bad nature, especially when his dialogue portraits show him clearly concerned and worried. Ralsei does know a lot - but dumping everything at once is rude, so he doesn’t.
@@Meow-vi9jb Exactly my point - seeing Ralsei as evil is a shallow interpretation of his character. He's someone who doesn't even understand himself (the whole boat scene where he doesn't know "how it's like to be Ralsei") and while he knows a lot, it would've been a mass influx of information to unload *everything ever* about the prophecy onto Kris and Ralsei. Why didn't Ralsei mention the roaring in Chapter 1? He didn't need to, he only needed to say it in Chapter 2 to discourage Berdly from making another Fountain. Ralsei is literally neurodivergent-coded in his character, and yet people interpreted all his flaws as something of a villainous character.
In the console versions of Chapter 2, you can still do the F1 trick during the fight with regular Spamton, even though you can't press the F1 key on console. Instead you need to press R3 (i.e., push down on the right control stick), which will summon the little Spamton angel and heal Kris just like on the PC version.
At 21:42, when mentioning the taste of pain, it reminded me of how pain was a possible favorite flavor for the vessel. Probably means nothing but I felt like pointing it out.
the character creator is the only way of toby saying "in most games you dont get a choice" (or something along the lines of that) to all deltarune players
The Frayed Bowtie is actually not even THAT bad, since it gives a small amount of damage, which is currently not very common for an armor to have, and it also gives extra resistance against those sound waves attacks (or against the “cat” element, it’s a bit weird). I actually wonder if this “element types” mechanic will be more fleshed out in future chapters, since there are also some unobtainable item that supposedly give resistance to certain elements.
ive played chapter 2 wtihout a chapter 1 save file like a few times (dont ask why its complicated) and i can confirm, its better than amber cards, and ragger 2 is only 1 magic away from being a straight upgrade to the first ralsei scarf, bounce blade is better than the first kris sword, but also you dont really need any of this info if you just get good lmao hahaahaha
Chapter 4 is gonna take place in a church and the boss is gonna use holy magic and it's gonna be an impossible fight if you don't have berdly because you killed him. Berdlys weapon is called the Holy halberd so it makes sense. This is just a theory though
That will be cool. Since deltarune's main focus in "fighting" is actually acting to spare enemies while surviving attacks, it would make since for there to be more items that help you survive than weapons.
You know, I'm surprised that no one mentions that at the very bottom of the deltarune/Undertale website, toby states "if you find a pillow at the bottom of a garbage can, please don't take it away". Sure in this case it might be spamton wondering from garbage can to garbage can, but still. Also teenie tiny tid bit, spamtons glasses color match with the only other two characters eye colors who've sold stuff in a garbage heap, catty and bratty
@@theladiescallmesona now youre saying it, when we spare spam he gives his "dealmaker" aka his yellow and pink glasses to us, to resemble the mercy colors. Toby you-
The fascinating thing about Deltarune is that most of the characters from Undertale don't seem as happy or fulfilled in Deltarune, like they know they don't feel like their best selves. Meanwhile, there are characters in Undertale that were swept under the rug or unhappy. But in Deltarune, their dreams come true and they become their best selves. Deltarune is Undertale flipped on its head and more.
@@anasdoudou920 I feel like with Asgore he was in the very bad state with Anger/Sadness in Undertale but in Deltarune He's still in a bad state except he's not really angry and actually kind of happy with his job and seeing Kris and Toriel this time.
It's an interesting parallel to real life where people who are facing a large problem often feel more motivated and fulfilled despite the misery they experience. While being trapped underground was a cause of despair, finding ways to destroy the barrier provided everyone purpose.
21:19 Oh hey, that's my footage! I'm glad I uploaded that video so people can still see what the glitch was like prior to the patch haha. It was so dumb but so much fun. For the record, don't worry at all about using the footage, I'm honestly kind of honored! Feels good knowing I was able to document a part of this game's history.
@@justdenys1421 I don't think Hollow Night is actually that thought out, sure there's a ton of mystery but I'm not sure the creators know all the answers
@@ultravioletcatastrophe Like, the fact that there's so much stuff, and a lot of things possibly may have answer. And with that same logic, I don't think Toby has answers to everything too
9:34 That rain in his eyes is actually pretty significant because of the song from the 2nd Sans date (It's Raining Somewhere Else) and what the goner that looks like Monster Kid says if you bring him an umbrella, "An umbrella? But it's not raining..."
Also, additionally: You can speak with the black walls in the room in the basement in wich the NEO body is. The black spaces there. When you speak with them, the text says "There's nothing interesting." and you can do that with any of the black spaces there. I always wonder why that is instead of just having no text there at all.
I wonder if keeping characters like jevil and spamton "alive" will have an affect on the later chapters. 9:35 also, it's raining somewhere else...? Eh? Maybe??
Yeah, I’m thinking that you are collecting a piece of the final boss of the game from each secret boss and you will put them together at the end. wether you spare them all or attack them changes how the end plays out. Just a really cool idea, I think.
Jevil dies in the first dark world if you don't fight him and win via fighting as in that he states "Take me and do your strongest" similarly spamton states the same if you spare him. I am doing a run in which I do this to have all secret bosses survive. Also I beat jevil by fighting on my first try... somehow.
there's a theory i've seen going around that jevil is a mandatory boss, only choice you have is when to fight him. with all the talk of the carnival, that's sure to be a dark world, and what is jevil? a trickster, the "clown around town".
Something I found a bit unsettling is if you remove the sound file for Spamtons shop, the phone never does the ringing animation. I can't really confirm this i saw a video of it if i find it i'll give the link. There's just something terrifying about the shop being completely silent and the phone never ringing. I've also had this theory that considering the next chapter is supposedly tv theme, we'll be able to fight Mew Mew, and considering she can apparently control people to help them with their problems it would be a cool mechanic if Ralsie or Susie were to be enemies for a bit of time, similar to Berdlys fight with Queen EDIT: To add to the theory. Most people are focusing more on "Mike" because Jevil mentioned Queen in chapter one. However, it's also possible that Jevil and Spamton foreshadow the secret bosses of the next game as well. Considering that "The Circus" uses the same leitmotif as "Dialtone", I theorize that the next secret boss is foreshadowed by a character's theme rather than being mentioned directly. So the fact that the "Dummy!" motif is in Spamtons theme, It's possible that the secret boss might be related to one of the ghosts TL;DR Secret bosses might foreshadow each other by leitmotifs in their side songs EDIT 2: (God, I'm talking so much) So i have a few more details. So far both secret bosses have similar characteristics, Both are like 30 pixels tall excluding their hat or hair, both are discarded things (Joker cards are hardly used in card games, and spam emails are often deleted, hence him living in the trash), and their names are puns. This comment is just me theorizing out loud at this point lmao
Fun fact The last three lines of spamton's dialogue when the player defeats him violently change if the player bought the thorn ring from him, of course this can only be seen in an aborted snowgrave route
i think the bigger foreshadowing of future bosses that nobody talks about is the line, "WE DON'T NEED ANYONE ELSE!! WE DON'T NEED [Easels] OR [CRTs]!!"; while those are two seemingly random objects, spamton mentions them as if they were *people*, which i think is the damning evidence that those things will be future darkners, combined with the heavy implication that kris's old tv (possibly a CRT tv) will be a character in chapter 3
From the way I understand things, I'm like 90% certain that Spamton was contacted by Mike first, who proceeded to help him and them probably end up scamming him which screwed him over big time. Afterwards he was contacted by Gaster who told him about the machine in the basement, and probably how it would lead him to "heaven". If it had JUST been Gaster who he had called, it wouldn't make sense for them to be speaking again after he allegedly "disappeared". I think it's implied he met the Knight at some point as well? I'm not quite sure about that though
it would make sense for mike to be the first to contact spamton :O and if we assume mike is the tv in the dreemurr home, him disappearing would probably coincide with when the dreemurr's stopped using the tv, for reasons we can only speculate on so far, since in ch 1 and 2 the narration points out that the tv hasn't been used in a long time
I actually wonder what he was going to say about the Knight before being interrupted. The dialogue is very specific in that he thinks it's something Kris(and by extension us) may not know already.
I've never seen anyone point this out but Spamton looks a lot like Bob Sparker, one of the inspirations for Mettaton, so I'm pretty sure Spamton was also directly inspired by that character Also the way Spamton slides offscreen at 27:23 is just like the mad dummy at the end of the fight, it's even the same sound effect
"It pulls the strings and makes them ring" has a sort of double meaning. Spamton pulls the strings attached to him and makes them ring, but another interpretation is "it (Mike) pulls the strings and makes them (the phones) ring." Implying that someone figuratively used their influence to make Spamton into a big shot
The caller isn't necessarily Mike. It could also be Gaster, given the noises the phone makes as well as Gaster being repeatedly associated with phones in Undertale. Or both called at different points. In that last one, the 'it' referred to would be gaster though probably, since he was seemingly also responsible for what happened with Jevil, or so we all thought back then iirc.
5:27 Interesting idea, I don't believe anyone has suggested "sound" yet. Especially since it lowers the defense of the balls of yarn, the whip itself (physical), the little bolts of lightning, the "flying heads," basically all the bullets that come from Spamton Neo (both routes, including Funny Cheats damage), Tasque, and Tasque Manager. Also same problem as "strings," I'm not sure why it wouldn't protect against "normal" Spamton's bullets when he's yelling words at you.
I wonder if over time the player’s relationship with Kris will change depending on how much our choices align with the choices Kris would have made. Like eating the moss and picking the most Kris-like dialogue options. Maybe then we eventually get along with Kris as the story progresses. But picking choices that go most against Kris, like with things like the Snowgrave route, maybe Kris turns on the player then.
I don't think Kris would ever not be against the player. I mean we're controlling him and making him do things that he'd rather do himself. And no matter what choices we pick, Kris seems to be so hungry for freedom that he doesn't hesitate to rip his heart out. So j feel like he's gonna turn on us at some point regardless
Spamton NEO fight has a lot in common with Mettaton EX fight: - Both includes yellow soul mode - Both have some flavor texts where audience is mentioned, however Spamton seems to have no audience while Mettaton has a lot of audience - Some of their attacks has a lot in common: objects what can be destroyed by shooting, heart that can be shooted for visual damage and Spamton heads / Mettatons who shoot - Their battle themes have many leitmotifs which mostly include their previous themes
This isn’t particularly noteworthy or anything, but after Spamton is spared and his wires are cut, he’s hanging by the vines on the wall. The strings on his neo outfit were green, just like the vines. To me, that says that he regained those strings, that maybe he needs that kind of support to survive, or that maybe he’s incapable of doing anything on his own? Make of it what you will
Makes sense, because he seemingly just dies when leaving the vines. And despite saying that he is going home when the inventory is full(while in itemform), he only managed to get to the chest very close by before not being able to continue.
Didn’t Jevil say “the true power of NEO” or something like that in his voice lines? I remember reading that on his fandom wiki. Also I believe that NEO IS actually very powerful in defense, the player was just more powerful as they gained more LOVE. We were able to kill everyone else (sans and Chara “killing” the player) in one hit after all.
@@AlchemizedGold That’s the ticket! Oddly enough, it can only be heard in the Japanese localization of the game, but that translation offers a ton of possible implications and lore bits that the English one doesn’t have.
Something that wasn't mentioned about keygen: Key genertors often played music while the user waited to for the computer to generate the key. Usually, it was chiptune music. Thats why that YTP had this music. In addition, keygen music is now sometimes used as a name to the genre fo songs that used to play in keyGens
"and the Lighteners never even looked his way." is such a depressing line for my scrunkly scrimblo, but it's simulatenously funny because, if he was in this reality instead, things would be different. I mean, come on, do you see how the entire fanbase lost their minds for Spamton? He's just a leetle boye
The first time you leave the duck in the acid river (when that giant hand is blocking the way), you can check the duck, and it says "Looks like a certain bird is having a ride on the acid river". I think it is a callback to what Queen says it would happen if Noelle didn't join her, when we arrive at the palace. Maybe it's not that meaningful, but I think it means she wasn't going to do anything with Berdly, and THAT was what she was talking about. (Sorry for the bad english)
2:53 Not to add more depression to Spamton's story, but do you all think he's possibly talking about something that happened to him? It sure seemed awfully specific...
He later mentions about knight(the knight before kris), but his dialogue gets cut off again while he is screaming and saying he is sorry, maybe knight was also involved in his downfall?
@@rottenbutterfly111 I think the knight is Gaster. And there's a lot of evidence of Gaster being the one calling Spamton. So that would probably be why.
8:56 Jevil's battle also includes the text "Jevil is laughing incomprehensibly", which is similar to how Spamton avoids saying the name of the 'stranger' he made a deal with.
you said there is "rain behind spamton's eyes"; there is a song from UT called "it's raining somewhere else" supposedly connected to Goners and their existence and lack of in parallel universes; could it be that Mike is a Goner who remained in files and can communicate trough Spamton?
That broken sword might be a reference to Homestuck and the character Dave Strider, who uses a broken sword as his weapon, and because he specifically uses broken swords he can weild an ultimate weapon
19:24 I tried looking up if "cungadero" is some obscure slang I hadn't heard of, but the only uses of the word I could find before Chapter 2's release were a single random tweet, and a bunch of social media accounts that changed their name to a Deltarune quote afterwards (which is still included in the search because the page itself was made earlier).
It's a variation of a Spanish swear word for "thing," or ''piece of s-" Edit: When Spamton says, Holy [CUNGADERO], he basically means Holy Sh*t 😂 It's also very rarely used to describe an old car, which would make sense in Spamton's case.
@@snowflake_18 yeah that’s Spanish swear word being “chingadera” which means piece of shit/trash, and can also be used when someone is trying to name something (kinda like thingamabob or thingamajig) but with a more vulgar connotation
I don't see this mentioned very often, and I don't recall if this has been covered before in this channel, but in the underground area the low drone that plays as music is actually Your Best Nightmare's intro, played in what seems to be cello or some kind of stringed instrument. You can speed up the song to confirm this, too.
When I first explored the basement and heard that, I knew something was off. Complete tonal shift from everything else so far (except snowgrave shenanigans)
15:56 I'm the Mike crackhead theory guy, but I never would of made the connection to the file name being "friend" and Mike being mentioned in the friend option. Good catch!
I'd just like to point out that the real world species of freshwater clam commonly referred to as pipis are abundant in Queensland Australia. QUEENS-land!
I always thought the pipis thing was a reference to Griffin and also the internet’s fixation/malware or spam emails related to the “little blue pill” but that’s just me
I feel like they did, and thats why he is. Especially since, so I've heard, some chapter 2 characters recognize the jevil items. Also, the devilsknife, which jevil implies he physically turns into when he gives it to you, doesn't get turned to stone in your inventory, even though Lancer does in snowgrave. I don't know for sure though. I only heard this somewhere else. Edit: forgot to mention, Soamton mentions a "clown around town" comparing what he'll become ad Spamton NEO to them. So he's almost definitely met jevil.
I just discovered a dialogue glitch in Deltarune Chapter 2. So after you enter the Dark World (the normal one not the Cyber World) , when I was talking to Susie , at the end of the dialogue, when it said "KRIS HURRY UP" , there was this weird thing that happened with Ralsei. He said, "Fine , I'll guess we'll try to not let you die of lonliness". The same line when Susie was talking to Ralsei. Ralsei had his delfault face ( the one where he had a straight expression and looking a quite serious ) , it is a weird dialogue glitch and I was freaked out by it too. NOTE: THIS WAS AFTER I HUGGED THE RALSEI DUMMY AND I WENT BACK FOR SOME EXTRA DIALOGUE I just wanted to share the strange glitch story with you guys!
You missed one tiny insignificant but really funny piece of dialogue, which is once you beat Spamton and go back to the trash zone, when you talk to Trashy, his dialogue changes to "There were a group of guys looking for you to the west. They were muttering something about muttering something about deals" It's just really funny to me for some reason
noelle saying the dealmaker is familiar makes a lot of sense since the lore from the spamton sweepstakes reveals spamton and noelle have actually interracted on email
the lyrics are in fact: "Please, Mike, anwser the phone I cant explain till' you're all alone. *He pulls the strings and make them ring* Till' your hear gets RIPPED up! Please, Mike, anwser the phone I cant explain till' you're all alone. *He pulls the strings and pulls the strings* TELL YOU WHAT YOU [BIG SHOT]!"
Characters like these put the ending theme "Don't forget" in a much darker light. Someone said that Jevil and Spamton are basically this world's Gaster. Had everything at one point in time and had it all taken seemingly instantly. And now, they're bonus characters that you have to dig for information on. In other words, forgotten by the main world in whole. I keep hearing that people are saying those lyrics were probably referencing Ralsei watching over Kris, but what if it's not? What if it's those forgotten characters watching Kris, not wanting to be forgotten anymore? That puts a whole new slew of theories in this game
"The phone in Spamton's shop were supposed to look like the ones Ness uses to call his dad" Game theory: I'm about to end this [[BIG SHOTS]] whole career. *Inhales* NESS IS THE SON OF SPAMTON
You know, when I first found the door to Spamton's shop, I had no clue what it was. Before meeting Spamton, I thought it looked a lot like Gaster's door in Waterfall, and that really unnerved me.
Butterscoch and cinnimon for the cake flavors are references to Toriel in Undertale, I think, with that Butterscotch-Cinnamon Pie. But. Juice might be a reference to the name of the pie in battles. It's called Butt. Pie.
6:52 I thought Swatch was about to say “in order to get the look right” and then go off on a whole spiel about fashion or whatever before catching themselves
30:28 there is some dialog change after that, which is something about trying to make Susie hug Kris I think? It goes something like (What why me, hug Ralsei You don't really gave hug much so it's more valuable hell no I'm not hugging anyone)
Hi, I think I have a good question. I have been wondering for a while how some characters in deltarune are aware of others, like for example: Jevil mentions Queen in his fight, but they are kinda in different dark worlds. My conclusion is that earlier they lived in the same dark world, but now my question is what happened that the orginal dark world shattered into smaller ones.
I think the original Dark World is completely separate from the other ones. The original is based on the closet, and Chapter 1's Dark World is based on the classroom next door, explaining why they are connected. The Cyber World is all the way at the computer lab in the library, explaining why it can't be directly travelled to from a room inside the school.
This entire thing seems super fishy in a way. The known timeline of events in comparison to the order that is stated in the game simply doesn't match up. We are led to believe that the areas are created when the fountains are, but Jevil is implied to have been in Cyber City after Spamton's fall from grace(Because Spamton wouldn't otherwise see him as a comparisonpoint) and he would have had to visit the city before the Knight even met King due to the details given on his imprisonment.
The reason why Jevil knew about the Queen is probably the reason King and Queen know about each other. I guess HOW it happened was i guess that that Laptop(I'm just assuming the Laptop is Queen) was perhaps at some point placed in the shelf in the unused classroom. And u know King AND Jevil would be there which would be perhaps why they know Queen. It's because she was there before
@@PajamaCat4 other than the reality related things, both spam and jevil know actually too much about light world, and even also the game system, spam mentions the heart/soul that only a human like kris has(could be bc he met knight before who was also human??) , and jevil mentions HP, and they have the shadow crystals that show how their world is connected to light world with certain places like school or library. Other than king and queen being on control and having the memory about each other, maybe those two were specifically introduced to some info more than their own reality, which lead jevil to go chaos and spam trying to reach all of it while calling it heaven and power.
Very late, but the song 'Unreal Superhero 3' Is part of a video where 1 character continuously dies, gets brought back in a recovery centre, then dies again by falling off a cliff, never stopping. Spamton can relate, because if he dies as spamton neo, he'll just go back to spamton. And his hope to keep on living as a real boy ends up in him being in a cycle of hope then ruins.
Fun fact (unrelated to Spamton): sweet looks suspiciously like sound master, which is a character from the web series cucumber quest, which toby made a song for.
Holy crap I didn't realise Ralsei references chocolate, butterscotch, and cinnamon... The thing Toriel's pie was made out of, as well as Chara's favourite food that Toriel kept in her fridge. Ralsei......... You're so sus.
There is also JoJo reference where Spamton mentions talks to Kris that they will together "Look into Heaven" which I think is an reference to Dio and Pucci part 6 where they talk about looking into Heaven to make their stands more powerful.
I'm not so sure about this, or if anyone else has already said it, but Spamtom NEO's beta attacks got long hands. that would give more meaning to the dialogue where Susie says "Are we really not going to talk about that? That was god damn weird, Puppets... strings... Hands..."

I start to think that Undertale is a game Asriel makes in Deltarune. And since it's an indie game he takes characters from his hometown to add them to their game. That's how the 2 games are connected to eachother.
I guess it makes sense because Deltarune was actually before Undertale. I guess Asriel wanted to make a game where every person from home town is swapped like how Catty and Bratty are actaully best friends there.
Interesting, but what about sans? After all, he and Papyrus move in after Asriel had already gone off to college, so how would Asriel know to put them in his game?
@@bigbadgammagnome I guess since he just saw sans as the guy that's just there, he didn't do anything for him. Or perhaps he knew how chill he was so he made an option where that's not the case? idk
@@bigbadgammagnome toriel says in chapter 1 that there is “only 1 week left until Asriel comes back from college”, so if that does happen then it’s very likely that Asriel would encounter Sans and Papyrus. Although, I dont believe that Asriel is “making undertale” because undertale is such an in depth game and it would be weird to do things such as shipping two irl citizens or showing the entire city’s population being brutally murdered (genocide route).

I had a thought: In Undertale, Asriel says at the very end of the pacifist ending that when Asriel took Chara's soul and crossed the barrier, Chara wanted to kill the humans. What if in this timeline Chara actually followed through and just destroyed all of humanity. It would explain why there are no other humans around, and why monsters are on the surface in this timeline.
11:09 The sword cut in half is a reference to Homestuck. And it's about a character who himself references Undertale(albeit while fused with another character).
Maybe it's Mike who was calling up spamton, because if you slow done the voice in big shot it's saying "Mike, Mike pick up the phone". And when spamton said "we don't need Mike" (10:28) (who's we?) suggests he used to rely on Mike

Im glad they changed the flickering on the right side, is that part of an optional photosensitivity mode?
Makes even more sense considering he is essentially personified spam. Of course his shop would just suddenly appear like a pop-up.
That would be great to have! Though I’m unsure if in this case if was a video edit, cos at 11:55 there’s a fade in to the shop.
Ow! Stop! Help Me!

Also the key phrase for Deltarune: “Don’t forget”
@@IceFireofVoid
Yeah, that's true!

How does he get mad over only being a secret boss?
@@AlchemizedGold he complains about "only being treated like DLC"
@@kevinm5940 I think that’s supposed to be him getting mad at Kris (or us) for neglecting him.

the story has a dm and snowgrave derails it's plot
I'm just now realizing how unsettling it feels to walk out of a somewhat long, emotional, and creepy sidequest to then have one of the characters try to convince you that it didn't mean anything. the heck is wrong with you ralsei
Ralsei knows way more than he's letting on
Counter Point - Taking people’s minds off of things is a way to help prevent a panic attack, and Kris was clearly distressed. I don’t understand why people interpret Ralsei’s dialogue as being one of bad nature, especially when his dialogue portraits show him clearly concerned and worried. Ralsei does know a lot - but dumping everything at once is rude, so he doesn’t.
I agree with reply above. Ralsei knows more than he lets on, but i dont think its malicious. He's clearly concerned and trying to help.
@@OssyFlawol to my defense I never said he was bad I only said he knows way more than he let's on
In the console versions of Chapter 2, you can still do the F1 trick during the fight with regular Spamton, even though you can't press the F1 key on console. Instead you need to press R3 (i.e., push down on the right control stick), which will summon the little Spamton angel and heal Kris just like on the PC version.
I think it also works on PC with a controller.
it's also possible to connect a keyboard to the console and hit F1 there, cus toby fox just cares about the details that much
At 21:42, when mentioning the taste of pain, it reminded me of how pain was a possible favorite flavor for the vessel.
Resistance against cat attacks… resistance against spamton…. CATBOY SPAMTON????
That will be cool. Since deltarune's main focus in "fighting" is actually acting to spare enemies while surviving attacks, it would make since for there to be more items that help you survive than weapons.

My favorite intro to a Undertale/deltarune related video
The fascinating thing about Deltarune is that most of the characters from Undertale don't seem as happy or fulfilled in Deltarune, like they know they don't feel like their best selves.
Meanwhile, there are characters in Undertale that were swept under the rug or unhappy. But in Deltarune, their dreams come true and they become their best selves. Deltarune is Undertale flipped on its head and more.
Uhh asgore is not happy in both UT and DT

On undertale, you cant run

It's an interesting parallel to real life where people who are facing a large problem often feel more motivated and fulfilled despite the misery they experience. While being trapped underground was a cause of despair, finding ways to destroy the barrier provided everyone purpose.

9:34 That rain in his eyes is actually pretty significant because of the song from the 2nd Sans date (It's Raining Somewhere Else) and what the goner that looks like Monster Kid says if you bring him an umbrella, "An umbrella? But it's not raining..."
That was the first thing I thought about too!
Also, additionally: You can speak with the black walls in the room in the basement in wich the NEO body is. The black spaces there. When you speak with them, the text says "There's nothing interesting." and you can do that with any of the black spaces there. I always wonder why that is instead of just having no text there at all.
I feel like the spamton text in [[brackets]] are spamton taking words from ads, kinda like bumblebee does with songs on the radio in that one movie.
Yes indeed. HE is supposed to be Spam which can use other forms of media to gain attention.
I wonder if keeping characters like jevil and spamton "alive" will have an affect on the later chapters.
9:35 also, it's raining somewhere else...? Eh? Maybe??
Neither Jevil nor Spamton die, they just become a weapon or an armor.
(It's different in Snowgrave, where Spamton is most likely dead.)
Also I beat jevil by fighting on my first try... somehow.
I know they don't die guys, that's what the quotes are for. I guess I mean if you don't turn them into weapons and just leave them alone.
there's a theory i've seen going around that jevil is a mandatory boss, only choice you have is when to fight him. with all the talk of the carnival, that's sure to be a dark world, and what is jevil? a trickster, the "clown around town".
I seriously hope every secret has the flavor text “The air crackles with freedom”
I mean both Spamton AND Jevil wanted freedom. Diffrences are that Jevil I guess didn't wanna believe he wasn't free, but Spamton did.
@@Jxnxor No, Jevil was believing he was free, Spamton was trying to be free
Something I found a bit unsettling is if you remove the sound file for Spamtons shop, the phone never does the ringing animation.
I can't really confirm this i saw a video of it if i find it i'll give the link.
There's just something terrifying about the shop being completely silent and the phone never ringing.
I've also had this theory that considering the next chapter is supposedly tv theme, we'll be able to fight Mew Mew, and considering she can apparently control people to help them with their problems it would be a cool mechanic if Ralsie or Susie were to be enemies for a bit of time, similar to Berdlys fight with Queen
EDIT: To add to the theory. So the fact that the "Dummy!" motif is in Spamtons theme, It's possible that the secret boss might be related to one of the ghosts
TL;DR Secret bosses might foreshadow each other by leitmotifs in their side songs
EDIT 2: (God, I'm talking so much) So i have a few more details. So far both secret bosses have similar characteristics, Both are like 30 pixels tall excluding their hat or hair, both are discarded things (Joker cards are hardly used in card games, and spam emails are often deleted, hence him living in the trash), and their names are puns.
This comment is just me theorizing out loud at this point lmao
imagine if mike was a red herring
Fun fact
The last three lines of spamton's dialogue when the player defeats him violently change if the player bought the thorn ring from him, of course this can only be seen in an aborted snowgrave route
What are they ?
@@ludwigvangaming1822 look them up online I don't remember
i think the bigger foreshadowing of future bosses that nobody talks about is the line, "WE DON'T NEED ANYONE ELSE!!
I think [Easels] is supposed to be and sorta sounds like Ralsei when said out loud and [CRT] is similar but talking relating to Susie
Yeah I was thinking this, too
it would make sense for mike to be the first to contact spamton :O
and if we assume mike is the tv in the dreemurr home, him disappearing would probably coincide with when the dreemurr's stopped using the tv, for reasons we can only speculate on so far, since in ch 1 and 2 the narration points out that the tv hasn't been used in a long time
@@1Alchemist There's also a phone pretty close to him, so I think we can connect the dots there
I actually wonder what he was going to say about the Knight before being interrupted. The dialogue is very specific in that he thinks it's something Kris(and by extension us) may not know already.
I don't think anyone met the knight. No one ever really says what he looks like or had claimed to see his face
I've never seen anyone point this out but Spamton looks a lot like Bob Sparker, one of the inspirations for Mettaton, so I'm pretty sure Spamton was also directly inspired by that character
Also the way Spamton slides offscreen at 27:23 is just like the mad dummy at the end of the fight, it's even the same sound effect
He says "Until you and your heart BREAK up!" Afterwards. So its talking about the player.
* It's you!
It also doesn’t do anything against the sweet cap’n’ cakes attacks
Maybe the element is anti-freedom/anti-chaos.
@@lpfan4491 So maybe it's Anti-Order also?
@@Jxnxor Why? That would make no sense.
It could perhaps affect the ending only but I wouldn't know
I don't think Kris would ever not be against the player. I mean we're controlling him and making him do things that he'd rather do himself. And no matter what choices we pick, Kris seems to be so hungry for freedom that he doesn't hesitate to rip his heart out. So j feel like he's gonna turn on us at some point regardless
Spamton NEO fight has a lot in common with Mettaton EX fight:
- Both includes yellow soul mode
- Both have some flavor texts where audience is mentioned, however Spamton seems to have no audience while Mettaton has a lot of audience
- Some of their attacks has a lot in common: objects what can be destroyed by shooting, heart that can be shooted for visual damage and Spamton heads / Mettatons who shoot
- Their battle themes have many leitmotifs which mostly include their previous themes
Both Mettaton NEO and Spamton NEO have no audience, just that it's never directly stated in Mettaton's case.

The thing that I wonder about Spamton is whether there is significance to whether he uses [One Bracket] vs [[Two Brackets]].
I think the mannequin actually protects you from ALL of Spamton’s and Tasque Manager’s attacks.
The idea is that he failed because everyone had a spamfilter. And whoever called(Gaster?) likely used some sort of reality-manipulation to disable it.
Op I'm sorry but the "Skrunkly Scrimblo" comment gave me so much whiplash HELP (light-hearted)
@@lpfan4491 that would make sense. And yeah the person calling was definitely Gaster.
I mean THAT was the bird she was talking about, not Berdly.
(In case I didn't make myself clear.)
The Queen says to Noelle: "if you don't listen then a certain bird might take a ride in the acid river."
2:53 Not to add more depression to Spamton's story, but do you all think he's possibly talking about something that happened to him? It sure seemed awfully specific...
:(
He later mentions about knight(the knight before kris), but his dialogue gets cut off again while he is screaming and saying he is sorry, maybe knight was also involved in his downfall?
@@rottenbutterfly111 I think the knight is Gaster. And there's a lot of evidence of Gaster being the one calling Spamton. So that would probably be why.
Good to know that even after you defeat spamton he is still alive.
8:56 Jevil's battle also includes the text "Jevil is laughing incomprehensibly", which is similar to how Spamton avoids saying the name of the 'stranger' he made a deal with.
That makes zero sense
Are you referring to the "YOU TOO CAN HAVE A [[Communion]] WITH [[Unintelligible laughter]]" line? Cuz that sounds like a bit of a stretch to me
@@pepe_felipe The noises the “stranger” was making were incomprehensible
Thanks for putting so much effort into documenting this game! PS the intro is awesome :D
you said there is "rain behind spamton's eyes"; there is a song from UT called "it's raining somewhere else" supposedly connected to Goners and their existence and lack of in parallel universes; could it be that Mike is a Goner who remained in files and can communicate trough Spamton?
Mike could be Goner kid
MIKE COULD BE GONER KID
That broken sword might be a reference to Homestuck and the character Dave Strider, who uses a broken sword as his weapon, and because he specifically uses broken swords he can weild an ultimate weapon
19:24 I tried looking up if "cungadero" is some obscure slang I hadn't heard of, but the only uses of the word I could find before Chapter 2's release were a single random tweet, and a bunch of social media accounts that changed their name to a Deltarune quote afterwards (which is still included in the search because the page itself was made earlier).
Kinda creepy
It's a variation of a Spanish swear word for "thing," or ''piece of s-" Edit: When Spamton says, Holy [CUNGADERO], he basically means Holy Sh*t 😂
It's also very rarely used to describe an old car, which would make sense in Spamton's case.
I always thought the pipis thing was a reference to Griffin and also the internet’s fixation/malware or spam emails related to the “little blue pill” but that’s just me
i have good news for you friend, you aren't the only one th-cam.com/video/EWAFugXa9bQ/w-d-xo.html
8:46 knowing that Spamton is afraid of clowns makes me want to see him and jevil interact even more! 💵🃏
@@--CHARLIE-- those are interesting points 🤔
NOTE: THIS WAS AFTER I HUGGED THE RALSEI DUMMY AND I WENT BACK FOR SOME EXTRA DIALOGUE
I just wanted to share the strange glitch story with you guys!
Thanks for sharing this with the class!
29:03 It really seems like Kris pitched the idea of wearing Susie's jacket.
You missed one tiny insignificant but really funny piece of dialogue, which is once you beat Spamton and go back to the trash zone, when you talk to Trashy, his dialogue changes to "There were a group of guys looking for you to the west. They were muttering something about muttering something about deals"
It's just really funny to me for some reason
I’m STILL learning bits about Undertale to this DAY. Wow
No one ever talks about just how many references to the Mad Dummy Spamton's songs and quotes have and it's honestly pretty astonishing
A few days ago I replayed the Octo Expansion from Splatoon 2 and the phone reminds me now of Spamtom
noelle saying the dealmaker is familiar makes a lot of sense since the lore from the spamton sweepstakes reveals spamton and noelle have actually interracted on email
14:05
I always thought it was implied that's where you shove berdley's body in the Weird/Snowgrave route, hence the strange flavortext
25:55 ohhhh this part is interesting. Spamton neo is actually a cat enemy, just like tasque. Maybe it has something to do with it?
Imagine if Spamton broke down your door, starts playing Big Shot, and asks you “DO YOU WANT A [[BIG SHOT]]?”
And then the whole room starts glitching out
I would boot him so hard his nose would invert.
the lyrics are in fact:
"Please, Mike, anwser the phone
I cant explain till' you're all alone.
*He pulls the strings and make them ring*
Till' your hear gets RIPPED up!
Please, Mike, anwser the phone
I cant explain till' you're all alone.
*He pulls the strings and pulls the strings*
TELL YOU WHAT YOU [BIG SHOT]!"
Btw, deltarune has been mirroring Undertale, but kinda backwards, with chapter one resembling new home, and chapter 2 resembling core.
When ralsi talks about the flavors she says cinnamon and butterscotch witch is the flavors toreal offers in undertale
"The phone in Spamton's shop were supposed to look like the ones Ness uses to call his dad"
Game theory: I'm about to end this [[BIG SHOTS]] whole career. *Inhales* NESS IS THE SON OF SPAMTON
W.D…. Memes?
You know, when I first found the door to Spamton's shop, I had no clue what it was.
Before meeting Spamton, I thought it looked a lot like Gaster's door in Waterfall, and that really unnerved me.
Butterscoch and cinnimon for the cake flavors are references to Toriel in Undertale, I think, with that Butterscotch-Cinnamon Pie.
But. Juice might be a reference to the name of the pie in battles. It's called Butt. Pie.
I love that intro I cannot wait to watch the rest of the video
6:52 I thought Swatch was about to say “in order to get the look right” and then go off on a whole spiel about fashion or whatever before catching themselves
30:28 there is some dialog change after that, which is something about trying to make Susie hug Kris I think? It goes something like (What why me, hug Ralsei You don't really gave hug much so it's more valuable hell no I'm not hugging anyone)
“Now’s your chance” and “BIG SHOT” have the same rhythm as “World Revolving,” which is a sped up version of “Don’t Forget.”
"why did HE deserved this?" he looks more original then Addisons so probably the one behind secret bosses was like "this will be good Target"
*Noisemaster
Holy crap I didn't realise Ralsei references chocolate, butterscotch, and cinnamon... The thing Toriel's pie was made out of, as well as Chara's favourite food that Toriel kept in her fridge.
Ralsei......... You're so sus.
[[curse word,]] they are catching on to my tricks. Time to amp it up a little
Hi, clown.
That was god damn weird, Puppets... strings... Hands..."
About the egg and the man behind the tree... 1st chapter is write in present, 2nd chapter is write in past. Maybe the next chapter is write in future? If this is it that could confirm a bit more that the man is Gaster, bcause of how the void from the thing he created (dont remember name) messes up with space and time
There will be a man behind the tree.
NB4 Mike Teevee from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is brought up as Spamton's old friend.
This was a great comprehensive video!! I really enjoyed watching this, and the intro was pretty cool lol
Fun fact: you too can be a [BigShot] if you collect all of the [[hyperlink blocked]] at [the end of the world as we know it] then you can take your [Cungadero] for [a ride around town] with [the whole family] for [a great deal down at the old lodge]!
I viewed Swatch’s basement comment as a reference to “There’s no basement in the Alamo”
30:45 It Wasnt Exactly The Same, At The End Kris Asks Susie For A Hug
The “garbage noise” is the song from entry 17 room and is called smile
"I'll leave some more details on that in [The Basement Entrance]"
That was great
11:09 The sword cut in half is a reference to Homestuck. And it's about a character who himself references Undertale(albeit while fused with another character).
Maybe the broken sword is a homestuck ref. because when bro strider breaks Daves sword, the sprite looks really similar.
Maybe it's Mike who was calling up spamton, because if you slow done the voice in big shot it's saying "Mike, Mike pick up the phone". And when spamton said "we don't need Mike" (10:28) (who's we?) suggests he used to rely on Mike
Spamton Neo weapon also looks a lot like the Z-buster from MegaMan X2 and Storm Eagle's buster too, who also happens to throw eggs that burst into smaller enemies too
One person pointed out that if we listen to background in Now’s Your Chance To Be A, we can hear at some point a sound. That sound is exactly the same as what Photoshop Flowey makes when being destroyed by the human souls.
