Great Job, very Informative. I'm a real world pilot and use x plane 11 to stay sharp when not flying. One thing I would like to see for X plane 12 is ground crew for GA Aircraft/FBO'S. There are a bunch of corporate pilots out there and would bring a more realism to the practice. Thanks again for a great video

That would be a great feature! That was something I wish I could have found years ago when I was instructing. Having the ability to create familiarity with an unknown airport would have been or would be great.

You're providing very accurate information. Currently, if someone starting out wants a "good" Flight Simulator experience, he or she will need to set aside a minimum $2500 for a capable PC. It is simply an investment that one has to make. Maybe graphics cards will come down in the near future; and maybe not? Over the past 15 years I've built 5 desktops strictly for the purpose of FS; however, it is not getting cheaper.

    • @JoeNDBAVIATION
      @JoeNDBAVIATION  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I agree with you about the investment statement and the fact that both pc components and flight sim peripherals are all getting more expensive. I only hope that with the new generation of pc parts we see low end parts that can run "FS' at medium settings or better at 1080p at 60 fps. I think it can happen and hope to see it in Q3/Q4 this year.

I have an MSI GF65 Thin 10UE with an Intel I5 10500H processor up to 4.5Ghz turbo boost. RTX 3060 Graphics card with 6 GB of Vram, 500 GB SSD, and 8 GB of Ram. I plan on upgrading the ram to 64 GB at 3200 Mhz(which is it's max) and a 2TB SSD high performance hard drive for a total of 2.5TB of SSD hard drive space. I think that Xplane 12 and Flight Simulator 2020 will run pretty good on this setup. Price of my laptop was $698 after tax and the cost of upgrades will be anywhere from $300 to $400. I think a pretty good setup gaming laptop coming out at a total of $1100 to $1200 is not too shabby, especially for someone who is on a budget. Great video buddy! keep up the great content!

I don't know the actual fps, but right now without the upgrades I can play DCS World on medium settings and still have pretty smooth game play with no stuttering. For Intel about anything based around socket LGA 1200 motherboards will work pretty well. You can always upgrade your CPU or RAM at a later date. Whatever you can possibly afford for graphic cards is better. I agree that 6 gig is probably minimum and not 4. Great video and I agree.

X-12 will run faster as it matures. This is the usual run on system resources that will eventually be ironed out. I would stick with your current setup for now.
Years ago, I can remember people running top tier i7 and Nvidia Titan cards. They were still running in the low 40 FPS range due to X-Plane not utilizing all those resources properly.
By about X-Plane 12.2r5 or 12.3r5, we should see better system utilization.

If you don't have the parking brake assigned to a joystick/yoke, I think the parking brake defaults to your spacebar or "b" key on your keyboard. That should release the brakes as sometimes the toe brakes on rudder pedals don't always suffice.

@@molo2793 It would be amazing to port X-Plane over, but they have spent a lot of time and money on the mobile version.
I doubt that Laminar has much in the plans for a console port. The big issues with a console port comes down to the compatibility with the OS. There is a potential for it, but until we see a large proliferation of sim peripherals that work with xbox, I don't see this happening.
The large gripe I have with the latest consoles, was that they moved to an x86 architecture but still require "special" devices for connecting to them. All together the licensing issues around product peripheral support and software support are the issue that inhibit many from going to the xbox/PS5.

@@JoeNDBAVIATION I love the artic freezer Ii 360 it's been so rebust and reliable , it's basically high performance with out the bling and RGB for only £89 at the time I've had it two years ( they do have an RGB version now though ), artic cust service Is fantastic lost some screws sent me them free , needed rev 4 mounting bracket due to a conflict with vrms on x570 master rev1.1 they sent the brackets free of charge , sinxing using rev 4 mounting kit my idle temps are 28-30c , in xp11 with Orbx TE , DD Seattle ,DD airports , Enhanced skyscapes , 4k , XP settings tweak of ai road traffic to 100 from 2 same with car density my lowest fps at 4k is 27fps at taxi g airports in the air 40 fps in airliner at 36000ft 50-60fps , i disabled ht CPU usage still only 12% - expect when new areas load and best part my temps are like 55c a couple more fps too :) ( 68 with mt enabled when running XP )I can render , have files decompressing while simming which great it's the reason I went for a 5900x , it's a good multitasker and still kickass , I have heard some point in xp12 s cycle there's going to be architecture restructure so more mutil thread scheduling , obviously it's a complex to keep everything synched but it's about time flightsim were less single thread bound for some processes. I will see how stock and pricing goes on the 40 series and actual performance increase , Im not one for hype train , also , for xp12 I can set a 80% custom resolution of 4k if needed at I really can't tell much like much difference in sharpness through my not so amazing eye sight with my glasses on 34 inch monitor , put will get an fps increase if gpu limited compared to native 4k , also there going be fsr 1.0 I'd would of preferred 2.0 but it's a start consider XP is not a fast to twitch shooter or triple AAA game the results maybe be quite good

    is a i5 11400f and RTX 3060ti and 16GB ram good enough?

I would assume medium settings. Maybe slightly better depending on how you set all of the rendering options. But you should be good to go with that. Maybe more Ram at some point.

AMD5900x, ROG STRIX MB, 32gig Dominator RAM, 1TB M 2. drive 20TB Solid State DR, 2080TI 11 gig its going to make Xplane 12 look like a dream.. Then REVERB G2 time.. or build an all touch panel home cockpit

      You have a great PC!
My reference is to the times in the past where even those running Titan cards were brought to their knees because of coding issues. An early run version of a sim can be difficult even on high end pcs.

@@JoeNDBAVIATION let's hope this time around, x12 utilizes the CPU cores better put some of the load on the CPU and code better for visuals.

I run triple 1440p screens with XP11. I have Ryzen 5950X and RTX 3080 and it barely gets 30fps. Even down to 20fps in some places. I think XP12 is not possible for me unless they improve multi core CPU use. My CPU is only 8% utilised and GPU 55% utilised with triple screens.

The Multi core use and Gpu usage I am hoping to hear updates about. You are a prime example of the a power user that has all of the required goods to run the sim at medium - high on multiple screens.
What are you visuals set at for the 3 screens?
It has been strange over the years how multiple screens have been so obstructive to FPS even with high powered components.

@@JoeNDBAVIATION It doesn't seem to matter what settings I use on the left-hand-side of settings (The GPU-centric ones). It's the single-core CPU performance that seems to be holding it up, not the GPU. The settings that make a difference to framerate are "World Objects", which I have set to "High" and also "Reflections" which I have to "Minimum". I am sure I used to get better performance under Windows 10. Currently I'm on Windows 11 and regretting the upgrade

@@flightsimdeskuk I have also noticed a drop in performance in Windows 11. I am going through all my settings and double checking unnecessary settings are off.

Go with fsx steam for some savings

    • @JoeNDBAVIATION

If the goal is to save and have a flight sim experience, sure. But it's difficult to argue the advances in overall sim integrity and visuals with MSFS 2020 and the upcoming X-Plane 12 vs sticking with older sim tech.
FSX is a fine budget friendly solution that works on older PC's, large library of add ons, and large support community.
