I was thinking the same thing. Most people the same age as the designers are lucky of they have a 20m2 apartment. 60m2 in Paris can NOT be considered small in any shape or form. The channel is evolving into Never Too Luxurious...
It's small in the absolute sense of the word - as in the opposite of big. Nobody would refer to their 600 square foot apartment as large or spacious. Don't nitpick people. And with a 20 square meter apartment there is little scope for layout and design possibilities thus there are not often shown.
@@vmoses1979 Taking into account geographic and economic context is not nitpicking. And the point of the channel is to show people that small spaces can be beautiful and functional. If you have every possibility of layout with your 60 sqm/1 person apartment, then there is no need for smart design, you can do whatever.

Given this is an English language channel and there are a lot of viewers from North America - it clearly doesn't only cater to the smallish living spaces of Europeans.
Everything about this appartment is brillant. It is classy, minimalistic but not cold, modern but respectful of the heritage (fireplaces, flooring, radiators), elegant but without sacrificing practicality. I am usually not a fan of open kitchen but this one works perfectly. This is probably the best NTS video I ever saw.
@@Jiphoune The kitchen works because nobody really cooks in an airbnb. And yes, they very much sacrificed practicality - this could have been a home for a local family with a child or two but they turned it into an airbnb.
As a consultant for Feng Shui, this apartment stands out for it's clean lines, accessibility and calm atmosphere throughout. The door to the bathroom was a surprise though! Bravo!

Oh wow! That is one gorgeous apartment! I especially love the walnut handles and the bathroom is truly stunning - simple, sleek, and just looks very clean. I also love what they did with the kitchen and how they made the door to the bedroom appear as if it is part of the cabinetry of the kitchen.
I especially loved the commentary on how the city is noisy and chaotic and the idea to create a space to offer a respite from that. This is so important for people who are HSP's or have sensory processing concerns. The built space really impacts mental health. I also appreciate all of the attention to the transitions within the apartment; the rounded tables, the seamless cabinetry. It all feels very fluid. All of the details were so thoughtfully rendered (handles on the cabinets for example); there is enough texture and visual interest without being overwhelming. I love the skylight in the shower, especially because here in the US most apartment bathrooms/showers are so dark in an unsafe way. The apartment is so warm, inviting and cosy. Brilliant.

I too have seen the majority of videos of the spaces they have shown. I never thought I would see one I wouldn't like but here it is. The cold, dark, barren feel does not appeal to me at all. Dislike the wooden backslash, the sterile cabinets, the dining area was lacking. Loved the radiator color & finish & the secret style door into the rest of the space.

My second compliment goes to the minimalistic, but still very functional, warm, balanced, and coherent design with lots of storage. Truly well, done, gentlemen! I am talking about the hidden door integrated into the cabinets that one even doesn't know it's there, and those super lovely long cabinet handles. Oh, I loooove these🙂 a lot...! I bet this is again going to be rented out as a B&B or other holiday apartment with no actual requirement for it to work for permanent and personal living. I think the real challenge of "never too small" in my opinion lies in actual lived spaces made practical and beautiful which fortunately we have seen on this channel too.
This could have been a family home, with the two bedrooms and the living space... this is just another way to make an already expensive area completely unaffordable to locals.
Credit to 23year olds working with and mirroring existing elements, refurbishing, repurposing, making and designing items and materials. Great to see. I do agree though, I felt this channel, which I’ve followed for years, originally focussed on genuinely small spaces which are lived in full time, in the context of a worldwide housing crisis. (I understand, one lived in it initially and is now rented out). We can all design beautiful minimal spaces to rent. This is not to discredit the beautiful work of these two designers. Maybe NTS can think about who their followers are.

I think this is my favourite place on here. A truly liveable space with some smart decisions and executed beautifully. And I was floored that there was not only one, but TWO TVs! Love to see a home a real person could live in.
This will be added to my favorites list for sure. Somehow theses two manage to design a space that feels almost like a luxury hotel room but at the same time warm, welcoming and homey...and on a budget! It's absolutely stunning and I haven't a single critique. Bravo!

This is nice, but be aware that in this area prices are at least 13,000€/sqm, so we're talking about a roughly $800,000 apartment which is way out of reach for many people living in Paris, especially at that age, without family help or inheritance ;) I wouldn't call that space "small", as most parisians live in smaller spaces but great video nonetheless as usual :)
I, too, wouldn't call it small! 😂 I live with my boyfriend and our apartment is 54sqm, haha, so this definitely is a large apartment, especially for one person and for being in Paris!
Same in any European city. They're so young too. Hard to imagine how much debt the 23 y.o. owner had to go into to afford this place and do it up like that. Had to be somewhere in the range of 500k - 800k usd or its equivalent.

I like that the bedroom has maintained some of the moldings and paneling which gives it an intimate feel in contrast to the main spaces modern minimalism.
Ok. This apartment is one of the two closest to my style in the entire NTS channel (meaning it's one of the two best designs being completely biased). Most of the quinessential elements that define Parisian loft apartment are presence, from herringbone parquet floor to fireplaces (multiple one at that!) to antique mirror above the fireplace. I even noticed small moldings in the bedroom wall. I can appreciate how much craftsmanship (and investment) goes into little details like those flooring (having the same herringbone for my own apartment). So many nuances and details in this place to go over in this comment. The best compliment is that this is the place I would happily live in. Really really superb.

It is a luxury hotel (airbnb). And while they may have renovated it on a budget, the property itself was probably close to 1m €.

This is nice, but be aware that in this area prices are at least 13,000€/sqm, so we're talking about a roughly $800,000 apartment which is way out of reach for many people living in Paris, especially at that age, without family help or inheritance ;)
I wouldn't call that space "small", as most parisians live in smaller spaces but great video nonetheless as usual :)
I, too, wouldn't call it small! 😂 I live with my boyfriend and our apartment is 54sqm, haha, so this definitely is a large apartment, especially for one person and for being in Paris!

Same in any European city. They're so young too. Hard to imagine how much debt the 23 y.o. owner had to go into to afford this place and do it up like that. Had to be somewhere in the range of 500k - 800k usd or its equivalent.

It's a luxury in Paris too - normally a family would live there.
I like that the bedroom has maintained some of the moldings and paneling which gives it an intimate feel in contrast to the main spaces modern minimalism.

Ok. This apartment is one of the two closest to my style in the entire NTS channel (meaning it's one of the two best designs being completely biased). Most of the quinessential elements that define Parisian loft apartment are presence, from herringbone parquet floor to fireplaces (multiple one at that!) to antique mirror above the fireplace. I even noticed small moldings in the bedroom wall. I can appreciate how much craftsmanship (and investment) goes into little details like those flooring (having the same herringbone for my own apartment). So many nuances and details in this place to go over in this comment. The best compliment is that this is the place I would happily live in. Really really superb.
