I really like how the kitchen cupboards wrap around the corner and along the corridor. This type of floor plan reminds us that kitchen storage can be created in unique ways.
The fact that he uses old furniture makes me so happy. Keeping a few good pieces instead of throwing things out? So wonderful, and they help the flat look relaxed and beautiful.
I am a bit scared there is no guardrail on the sleeping loft above! I would be worried sick if I had to get up in the middle of the night to go downstairs to the loo and mistakenly take the wrong side - it's a pretty steep drop!
I agree that the space is very well utilized. As for changing the bed, I thought I had it bad in our motor home but it looks to be a doddle compared to changing the sheets on that bed.
I have a bed with similar space and stairs. It's very easy to change the fitted sheet(s). Just sit on the mattress and lift it to hook the corners around it and voila. Bedding is even easier, cause you can just hold the corners and shake it down in the opening, so the duvet falls in place inside the sheet. For the open footend: mine is also open. You don't fall off the end of the bed. That just doesn't happen. You can hold the wall or the edge of the loft while going down the stairs if you're scared or feeling weak. (I have EDS & likely POTS and it's no problem at all)
Another great example of simplistic, individual design, that is clearly very liveable. I love that the toilet and bathroom is tucked away behind a corner, yet close to the sleeping area.
These videos are my Thursday morning wake-up treat. But I do wince each time there are stairs like this without a handrail, only because a friend of mine lived happily for ten years with such stairs until the day he slipped down them and fell so badly he needed surgery to repair his broken ankle.
That makes it a cosy home for them to live in plus the charming neighborhood having this green areas, small streets and village type feeling makes is the perfect combo for a city-life. Especially considering the fact they live Paris which is a big city with a fast pace life. They are amongst the lucky ones and it’s really enjoyable to see that :)
The pea green MDF is really lovely and calm. I've never seen that before. I also liked how the plywood was a soft colour and not too heavily grained. And the white laminate is also serene. I know people go on and on about marble, but I think the veins in it create visual noise. White laminate is quietly elegant. The personality of the bedroom was refreshingly different to the living area. You would not get sick of this space. This was a perfect video. I'll save it to watch again for pleasure and inspiration. Thanks Never Too Small and Monsieur Sommervogel.
Can't stop rewatching this video! The details fascinate, the basin, the shower, the dining area, sleeping area under the window I love the minimalism of the apartment, the things like "coach was donated by my brother". This apartment rings my bells, love it
@@jbox3000 But is it practical? Unless he plans to take them down after Summer, rain and snow will rot the wooden blinds pretty quick in other seasons.
I love how books are important in France. How all the dwellings I noticed in Paris had libraries, even the apartment we rented when we visited Paris in 2000. Where the direction is toward digital there are still those who prefer the physical item. Beautiful space, very well designed.
Wonderful, very cozy and pleasant apartment. The functionality is wonderful, I liked the colors and shades used. While in the living room, you may notice that the corridor leads you somewhere into the distance, and this creates a certain mystery. Even though the area is small, you can get lost in it and that’s great. I really liked it, I want to live in such a space.
Yes - I also liked that the living/dining area feels not constricted and very light because of not much furniture. Reusing old furniture is fine if it makes you happy - though it doesn't feel cohesive here. Troughout the flat he played with round shapes - both basins, the wall from kitchen to bathroom and even the knobs 😅 Gives a nice contrast to the normally boxy furniture which I really liked.
@@theresabu3000 Yes, I am also for reusing furniture, as it is economical and environmentally friendly, you can always restore it if necessary. It will also create a certain atmosphere.
I was going to write something vaguely like this but you have said it more eloquently. Yes, it is a certain mystery. Even in that tiny area the architect has put an intriguing corridor!
The green cabinet extension over the entrance door was very clever 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 it created a moment of arrival almost a room, a pause before entering the main spaceas you move from dark to light,. Very very clever.
Probably THE VERY BEST VIDEO 'Never Too Small' featured. The 'borrowed' light from the bathroom shower and the position and design of the kitchen steal the show. Thank you :)
I really like this apartment. Amazing uses of spaces. No gap is wasted. There is so much light everywhere. I wish there was somewhere for the outside shoes to go instead of wearing them in the home. But that's me.
He has the kicktoe drawers (those above the ground) in the kitchen for shoes if you look closely. 6:11 Three drawers are good for at least 1 person - though high heels or high boots will be hard to store. He could add a floating shelf under the window directly after the entrance - but that will also might hinder you in your movements. Might be a nice place to quickly deposit something though.
Never ever wear shoes in the house or sit on your bed with your street clothes. It’s not only you! That said, there are drawers under the kitchen cabinet for shoes.
I am sure it was well done for his specific needs, but aside from the shower it's all a bit bland. Does the toilet have a sink? Probably not. Typical bachelor, who thinks hand washing is overrated
Love all of it. So surprising to change out bulky beams to thin metal rope beams that PULL together, not BEAR or push apart. Beams do different things in a building. Good idea to ask a structural engineer
J'aime l'optimisation de l'espace, l'agencement des espace et la palette des couleurs...je pourrais y vivre! Merci de partager cette vidéo...et thanks to Never too small for always sharing such good videos from allover the world
Balanced, minimalist, and thoughtful. The loft is perfect, why anyone adds additional space beyond accommodating a mattress, lighting and bedside shelf(s) to a loft that requires crawling to navigate is beyond me. It's a lovely design and while I would approach with a warmer and more welcoming decor, to each their own, the design elements are superb.
Amazing how much and how well he designed the small space to make it functional and feel spacious. I myself would not want to climb up those steep and narrow steps to and from bed nor have to make that bed. Am also amazed that this is a shared apartment. Kudos to both of you to be able to live so comfortable within a small space.
Very well thought out and designed. I especially love the unconventional but very practical layout of the entire WC/shower/loft stairs area. Would have never thought of that but he's done it and it's great! WC comes first as one walks into the area so there's maximum privacy for the sleeping loft when there are guests. Only thing is probably need to add an additional curtain across the glass shower door if friends/family stay for the night and that area is used by everyone at the same time. Very minor thing and not a big problem at all. Tiny apartment but very effective storage arrangement.
I like it. It's playful with its small pops of primary colors spread out amidst a sea of neutral white. The vibe is bright and peaceful, albeit small like well designed ship cabin.
Fantastic - the design and layout of this space is not only functional but inspired. The shower space is amazing. I would be more than happy to live in a space like this.
The way all the circulation spaces/hallways have been used for more functional purposes as well is what I like the most. The amount of space, high ceilings and natural light in the "great room" kitchen, dining, lounge area really makes this apartment so welcoming and usable. Also, the external shading using blinds is a nice touch. Most window treatments are on the interior, but external shading prevents the majority of the solar heat gain from entering through the window glazing. Less solar heat gain means less need to cool a space, and an overall more consistent and comfortable temperature throughout the space. Thanks for another great video tour, NTS 💚
Agree. There seems be a lot of White seen in these apartments also the knocking down of interior walls as well. In this one I would have kept the living area separate from the kitchen.
The bathroom at the end of the area is brilliant! You don't waste any light in that house. Also I love how the fridge stands above oven too! Small details, but they matter
I applaud this designers clever use of space in a very unusual and tight floor plan. I love the compact kitchen and the pop of green for the splash back. The living area where you would spend most of your time looks comfortable, open and airy even though it’s still a small space. Well done!
Genius!!!! Very beautiful!!! I very much appreciated you sharing the beauty of the neighborhood! That alone made this apartment even more beautiful! Seeing the surrounding natural sanctuary was very pleasant and encouraged me to be engaged and more connected to your creation. I truly appreciate the thought in your design!
What a great shower, I love this, What a great mezzanine, where you can look at the stars. Absolutely love the wrapped kitchen counters , you gain a little extra space. I also have a shelf over my entrance, which is very useful In small apartments, bedrooms and especially bathrooms are often very dark corners or boxes. But here, you have all the light. Perfect.
Very clever renovations. I like the lightness of the space as well as splashes of color like the green kitchen cabinets. I would have preferred to have replaced the wood beams with new ones to give it a more rustic feel rather than the yellow metal rods that he used as a replacement, but that's obviously a personal preference. And I think I would've tried to figure out a way to get a bit bigger refrigerator. Also, I personally would not want to have to climb up to a loft to go to sleep, but this too is a personal preference and not a knock on his wonderful design. Adding that extra window in the living room is going to be great. And the neighborhood is just beautiful.
I would probably have a foldable desk and chair in the shower to get my private workspace if we were both working from home 😄 Would love to see the result of the new window 😊
Well done. Given all the space in the original footprint, he did a great job changing the entire layout. That entryway is clearly for average height guests only. I'd have raised the overhead shelf/storage space higher. The powered green is magnificent. Overall, nice space.👌🏾
This may be the most extremely efficient use of space I've seen on this channel!
Agreed

A very well organised space! And much respect to him for hanging on to his old and preowned furniture.

The fact that he uses old furniture makes me so happy. Keeping a few good pieces instead of throwing things out? So wonderful, and they help the flat look relaxed and beautiful.
A clever use of space (especially the shower and basin placement), but I’m glad I don’t have to change the sheets on the bed!

Very clever use of space, love the front entrance to the flat, it is like a little secret!

Using that space under the cabinets that is typically wasted is genius.
The old ones kitchens that were discontinued 2015ish had this feature as an option as well

I agree. This is a design that not all areas can accommodate. It’s definitely not code here.
Probably only practical up to a certain age…
2 people could easily have privacy. Just lovely and intimate.
I am VERY impressed by any couple that can live in a space this size.
