- 10,000 Days (Wings Part 2) By TOOL - This is now a song that is forever going to have a very personal meaning and connection to me! One thing I have learnt in the recent weeks is "Death is not the end". The physical world, as we know it might be different when someone dies, but I have experienced very clear signs that a person continues to communicate even after death. As scary as it was for me to experience this recently, it also gave me a very profound experience that I will never forget. If you didn't know, while I was going through this musical process of learning Wings For Marie and 10,000 Days, my uncle, my mum's brother who was just 42, suddenly passed away just a few days ago. I had spoken about this in my previous video. I feel it's no coincidence that while I was working on these very emotional songs, a real life sad event occurred in my family that just exploded the meaning of these lyrics to a whole different level of connection and understanding. While I witness the grieving process my mum and her family are going through, it just hit me so hard as if the universe is trying to tell me something.
I remember reading in one interview on how MJK was explaining the meaning behind 10,000 days. Its connection to the 'Saturn Return' on the 28th/29th year, where we are presented with an opportunity to transform, let go of old patterns and embrace a new life. Where we may sink or swim at that point but there are a lot of people who don't make it either. This is something I noticed happening a lot too.
This only reminds me how every single moment is precious! As much as we may miss the people who have passed away so much, let's not forget the loved ones who are still well and alive with us today!

Judith Marie, unconditional OOOONNNNE!!
Congratulations! I admire your talent and I take great pleasure in following you through your videos! THANKS
Sorry for your loss, Maya. I hope the joy you so obviously find in music keeps you smiling through your grief 💜💙
Thank you! My family always tells me my music helps them much more than I can imagine.
Wow sounds just like Adam Jones, great job!
Thank you!
Maya, I read what you wrote about your uncle and I'm very sorry for your loss but you are so right. Only our body dies, our soul/spirit still lives. I died on the OR table in 1994 and Jesus came to me and took my hand and said "Everything will be alright", I was flatlined and was 'dead' but I still had concious thought and know from that experience that we still 'live' and life is after our body dies. We are given life to learn all the things we need to know, this life is school for our spirit. We occupy a body like water occupies a vase. Each of our vases is a different color and shape but what makes us who we are is all the same with no color like water. We are here in our life to learn joy, hate, hot, cold, warmth, love, empathy, sympathy and pain. All the things we need to know as a soul or spirit. We take all of that with us when we leave our body. Just know your uncle is still around, his spirit lives and you should continue to live and make the most of what you have been given. Each of us has gifts given to us by our creator and He expects us to live up those gifts. Listen to Him and He will give you understanding of your path. Don't be afraid to follow that path. Nothing happens randomly, its all designed by our creator. Its all on purpose.
Wow! Thank you so much! It means a lot. And thank you for sharing your experience.
@@MayaNeelakantan Maya, I don't know if you saw what I commented on another of your videos, but I wanted to tell you I noticed from the first video I saw you was on was your AGT performance and I noticed you smiling. I am a fan of Eddie Van Halen and one thing I always liked about his performance was how happy and smiling he was while on stage. He loved playing and making music and I see that same thing in you. I know some people are rude, but I don't want you to stop smiling. Don't let others take your joy, you keep sharing your happiness. I like that and like seeing that happiness. It comes across in your playing and to your audience. Music gives us all joy. You are here on this earth to share your blessings from our creator. You are destined for greatness. Keep up the good work.
There are certain songs that will always remind you of a certain person, or time and place. It can be a little heavy, at first. In time, the mood lightens, and the songs will still bring you back to a memory. Bittersweet, I've heard it called.
For me, "Napoleon Solo" by At The Drive-In is a song that I struggle through, because it reminds me of an old friend of mine that passed away at age 23. He was two years older than me. Now I'm 32, and I see a world he never got to experience. In a way, I'm joyful that he was able to be himself to the very end. That there is no more pain or struggle, and that he is at rest. In another way, I think so often of who he would be today. And more, I realized how much his passing has changed who I am now. In that way, he will live forever, because the changes his life made in mine will guide how I interact with others, and their life will - if only slightly - be changed by our meeting. That is how we all can exist forever, even when we no longer have a name.
I’m sorry to hear about your friend. It’s a very powerful message you’ve shared there with me. Thank you! 🙏
I always enjoy receiving your notifications. Love watching and listening to your performances. I'm 59 years old and as I read the description I thought, she is such a wise child.
Thank you so much! I’ve been having a lot of interesting discussions with my family lately. And real life experiences too.
You’re awesome. Good stuff. Keep up the good work. don’t know how you don’t have millions of views. 🤘🏼TOOL🤘🏼

Distant in its glow

I believe I've seen all your video's. This one I think is your best yet. "Stunning"was the first word that came to me.
Wow. Thank you so much! This song forever will have a special meaning and connection in my life.
fantastic job Maya! :)
Thank you!
This was beautiful. You have put alot of work into this. I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your family member. I lost my dad last year. This song helped me to understand a loss does not mean the end.
Thank you! And I’m very sorry to hear about your dad. It must have been very difficult to process that. This song really does touch the heart especially when we have a real life event it reflects on.
Great playing Maya, and you had some very cool sounding effects in there as well. Very well done!
Thank you! This song uses a lot more effects and I constantly need to adjust a lot of things. It’s such a good song.
Well done
Thank you!
Your tracks are really impressive with timing which is one is the best thing I adore. Sometimes it helps me to practice my vocal exercises. Such a great talent Maya, Love from Nepal ❤️🇳🇵
Thank you so much! 😊 I’ve been trying to improve on my timing lately and I’m getting better. 😁
@@MayaNeelakantan just about time,I believe you'll be there soon 🤘🏻
Great work Maya! Awesome riffs! :) You rocked those bar chords!!
Thank you! I love how the song builds up to that section.
@@MayaNeelakantan yeah!! I remember the first time I learned to play those kinds of chords. It was when I learned to play Stinkfist. I was probably 14 years old at the time. They blew my mind :D
@@TajMikel I agree. It’s very Adam Jonesy style. Those extended barre chords. He uses this a lot and at the right moments to highlight the higher octaves. V cool.
Great job! Sorry to hear about your uncle..
Thank you so much! 😊 And yeah the past 3 months has been tough. But since I got back playing guitar again, it seems to help my parents and everyone around me. That was a new experience for me to see how powerful music is to others as well even during difficult times.
Awesome job! This song is personal to me also. Lost my mom back in 2012 unexpectedly, and it's been tough to deal with every day since. Just remember, we are eternal. All this pain is an illusion.
I’m so sorry to hear about your mom. I really cannot imagine that. This must be the hardest!
@MayaNeelakantan Thank you. Yeah, she was only 53. Life is a test.
Great job!
Thank you 😊
Great video thanks!
Thank you so much! This has become a very special song for me.
Do a cover of Parabola please 😊
I was able to close my eyes follow you where you took me. Rare gift. Do you take requests?
Thank you! I’m very happy you were able to experience the journey. That’s why I love playing these amazing songs. With the requests, sure let me know. I usually note them down.
If this isnt my kid in the future, i dont want it
😊😂😁 Thank you!
Is this the same preset from the 7empest video?
It’s similar but I updated the present since then. I still use the same amp and pedalboard set up but I adjusted the EQs a bit more since then. 😃
I’m a big fan, specially if the tool stuff. But I wish her folks would just let her play without encouraging her to forcefully smile and look at the camera every other second, especially on a deep and meaningful songs like this one. I know she’s a girl and you guys want her to be likeable but this just comes out as creepy and cringy, just let her playing do the talking , let her focus on her craft and let her enjoy it, its natural reactions and talent that make for great videos.
It’s annoying for me reading comments like this who are always picking on me smiling. This is something I do and I’ll always do. 😁😃😀😄
I love her smile while she is playing. Her passion and enthusiasm shines bright!
@@roseagain2 Thank you! When I play I imagine I’m playing in front of all of you. It helps me communicate my musical experience through the video.
@@MayaNeelakantanEddie Van Halen smiled alot while playing the guitar too. I can tell you love what you do! Just keep smiling, I like that you smile, it communicates the joy you feel while playing. Eddie did the same and he was a great guitarist like you. Keep doing what you do and don't sweat the comments. Not everyone has the joy you have. Pray for those folks that they find happiness. Don't take it personal, they may not be blessed like you with pure happiness in their heart.
Wings for Marie... yeah.. if you love your mom, this will really hit your heart... I'm putting my head phones on now, I got to hear this.
Music to me is the closest thing to making magic real. You don't need to say a word to convey what you feel-it is heard, and more understood than what you can say, it truly makes people connect.
By the way is that a Flying V Jackson? The white is a pretty shade for it.
Thank you! You are right, I feel exactly the same. Music is magic and it really does connect people even more closer than words can. 😊 And yes, its a V guitar. It's actually a King V from Jackson. It has sharper edges than the Flying V. 😀
