Something similar happened in America in the 80s with a guy called Earnest. He was this character who'd talk to his neighbor (the audience would see through his pov). The first ad was of a local fair ground or something if I remember correctly
He then went to do ads for mountain dew and stuff. He eventually became so popular that he got his own series of films. Some in cinemas, some straight to video

I've always thought it was pretty cool how Monkey & Al are one of the few or probably only ad mascots, that have been able to successfully move from one brand to another. I've also watched SomeBoiOnline's video on them, and when I found out about ITV Digital & Monkey being on the Ads tor them, it blew my mind! Also, those ITV Digital Monkey plushes, they're very good quality, but like with all things rare, the prices aren't the best. Great video again! ☕🙏🍋❤
