Britain's Got Talent or BGT had a Technical Breakdown on 28th May 2018, AKA Harambe Day. It was apparently due to a thunderstorm, though it was more likely due to Ant or Anthony McPartlin trying to sabotage the show, since he was going through a villain arc at this point. There was also a Bingo Night Live technical fault where Bingo Night Live Forced Off-Air Following Clock Change which is epic! The moment also features Creature Comforts sponsor segments which are pretty funny. We also discuss the Max Headroom Hijack which occurred in 1987 during WGN Channel 9 - The Nine O'Clock News and again during a Dr Who rerun. The Max Headroom incident was so unusual, both the 1st incident the 2nd incident and even the 3rd and 4th incident which definitely ended up happening. There was also a moment in 2013 When CBBC goes a bit wrong which was uploaded by CBBC Blog or CBBCBlogSummer2012 and it features Yonko or Chris and Hacker T. Dog having to improvise about Dave Lime and Alan the Spatula and Britney Biscuit and John Burgerman and Phil the Potato and Clever Kevin and Doris the Door who are an Epic cast of characters!! Anyway I'm sure this is an embarrassing enough description. I'm Monobrow Man and have a very Spooky Halloween 🎃

@Agidyne I remember watching an episode of Yu-Gi-Oh! which had a technical error, I think it was the last episode of the Orichalcos saga. It froze the screen and made it go black at some point, before bringing up a countdown leader (looks like a white ticking clock against a black background). When it returned, it restarted from just after the adverts mid-episode, but eventually ran out of runtime before interrupting the end of the episode to move onto the next show (I think there might've been split screen credits during that part of the episode too, before abruptly switching to adverts). It made me so annoyed lol, but also left me with that sense of eeriness.
I remember when I was really young, there was a Winnie The Pooh tape I used to love watching, but whenever the last episode ended, there was just silence against a black screen (since there's obviously no more episodes on the tape). I always didn't like how the mood changed from a happy magical world, to a foreboding cold silence. What's worse is approaching the tv at that point, to either eject the tape, or to rewind it, with the thought in the back of your head that something might come out of it... before being met with the sharp contrast of loud static if you left it too long.
Something about these technical breakdowns can feel a little eerie and off-putting especially if you were watching said programme, but I’ve been really fascinated in them because it feels like something that shouldn’t happen but it does. Even more surprising to know that these faults happen a lot.
I remember around 2021 a fire alarm at Red Bee broadcasting centre damaged equipment of quite a few channels (because they were running the playout of many different channels). As a result, Channel 4, Channel 5, E4, 5Star, all of their channels, and all of the music channels fell off air, and it took MONTHS to fix. Even BT Sport was off air!
Finally! I'm not alone in this!
There another ITV breakdown on TH-cam from 1992 where during an episode of Batman, the cartoon just stops suddenly and after an unnervy amount of black screen, the continuity announcer apologises a few seconds before the breakdown/holding slide fades up with Bugs Bunny.
This was scary as when you watch it for the first time it comes out of nowhere, I remember watching it as a kid and it freaked me out a lot, even kept me awake at night thinking that announcer was going to speak out of nowhere or Bugs Bunny was going to capture me lmfao
I remember this! This was weirdly creepy! I sat there frowning at the screen while my mum and dad got out of bed (i was laid at the end of it) to make a cuppa tea and i was left alone in the dark room with the bright screen from itv and the creepy music but I couldn't move

I still think the Emergency Alert Systems(EAS) are alot more terrifying than Technical Difficulty screens!
I imagine they are. Though I've never seen one of those Live 😅

I can see how this is scary, my personal fear is amber alerts on TVs, does anyone else have this one?
I never personally saw any amber alerts, but I can see why they would be terrifying 😅
