Thanks for the video! What should have been a 5 minute task was about an hour. The space where the bulb is located is SO TINY and I could not easily get my hands or tools in the right area. My 2013 Honda CRV LX is finally back with an illuminated gear shifter, but my back is all jacked up from twisting to get in that space. Yikes!
I have a 2016 CRV LX. You have to be a contortionist and have very small hands to change the bulb from this side hatch. However, opening the side hatch does allow you to free the yellow wires leading to the black bulb base from an open clip. I used a long slender screw driver to do this. Next I removed the trim that encircles the shiny black gear shift housing as explained by others. It pops completely off. I used a butter knife and small nail pulling pry tool to do this. The bulb base must be turned counter clockwise 90 degrees to remove it. Once out you can replace to bulb. Also the correct bulb for my vehicle was Sylvania 2721.
I just replaced my bulb and it’s easier if you pull the cover surrounding the shifter. The yellow wires lead to the bulb holder, make sure you turn it left or right about a quarter turn then pull.
I appreciate this video and I got the panel off, but I really wish you had shown how to actually pull the light bulb out. I am nervous about the next step.

So, is the black bulb you refer to square shaped? Do you actually twist or turn that square part 90 degrees?

Bulb is very small and it's gonna be there if not, probably is broken or miss. Yes I did pull out and I replace it for a new one thanks
