    This was just the tutorial I needed. I love the black border. I am making a blanket for my brother using my dear Mum's wool I have inherited. He likes black, so a black border, grey inner square and finally a small square of a bright colour using the remnant wool Mum had left over the years down the years. My Mum and brother were very close, I think he will be pleased with the gift.

    Ina I really enjoy your way of doing mytered squares.
    I really like the way you work your solid colour and it forms a border around your coloured yarn.
    Your way of decreasing also forms an attractive line.
    I have knitted mitered square blankets, but with one variegated yarn, also nice.
    The way you pick up your stitches is also the way I do it and I think it shows the least.
    I mainly knit socks so I have got many little balls left over from socks, so all I need is a solid colour.
    Thank you

    Already knitting a mitred square blanket, (not very big yet though) and had been adding white squares at intervals to bring the colours together. Now I want to knit one this way. I think it is much more effective. Thank you for sharing your technique. 👍🏼😍

    I thank you for making the decrease easier to understand. I had been making that part more difficult than it should have been, I had completely forgot the steps taken on the wrong side, of the work. I was consistant in my approach, so, the only thing that I did was possibly make the square a little larger than it should have been. I muddled through the finish of each square. I even started one or two facing the wrong way. But again, I was consistent. Knitting is wonderful, I just took it up recently, knitting also helped me to hold the yarn better when I crochet.💖💖💖💖💖

      Cast on 24 stitches, then pick up in the center stitch of the first sqaure + the remaining 24 stitches as described in the tutorial.
      When adding a square on the upper edge of an existing square, simply pick up 24 sts + the center stitch from the upper edge, then cast on 24 new stitches.

    Ina Is there a pattern for your blanket. This is just what I want as I love the border. I'm just a little confused because you mention bringing the yarn in front which for me means a purl; but there are no purls in this blanket, is that correct. So the decorative stitch is formed because the yarn is brought to the front; however it seems that it's still a knit. Am I correct? I am enjoying the tutorial as I have wanted to make this blanket for a very long time. I especially love the solid or dark border. I am probably going to do the same thing as I believe it finishes it off nicely. Thanks. Mae

      Hi, thank you for your question. I will describe the process in detail in an upcoming tutorial. You basically cast on the stitches for the first half of the square (24) and pick up the center stitch on the lower right corner of your existing square, and continue picking up 24 sts along the right side.

    How do you do the outside border when you are all done?

    • @InaKnits
      @InaKnits  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to pick up stitches along the side and knit the 5-row border after all the squares are completed.😊

      @@InaKnits ohh I see, thank you. Do you pick up one for one?

    • @InaKnits
      @InaKnits  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I’ll pick up one stitch in all the purl ‘bumps’, just like I would when adding a new square😊

    I want to make this but how do I start the squares

    • @InaKnits

      Cast on 49 sts with the boarder colour and knit the first square as described in the tutorial :)

    How do you start the first square. I assume you start with black

    • @InaKnits

      Thats right! Cast on 49 stitches using black. Then knit the square as described in the tutorial, and switch colour after you've knitted five times back and forth with the black colour.

    Tak for hjælpen, Ina. rigtig godt. Jeg er ved kanten nu. Mit bliver ca. 1 m + 1 m strikket i strømpegarn i mange farver, flot ser det ud😉 Det er til min søns kontorstol, så det skal være lidt stærkt og holdbart.

    How do you begin the blanket?

    • @InaKnits
      @InaKnits  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cast on 49 stitches and start working the pattern😊 (k24, slip the center sts with yarn in front of the knitting, k24) Turn work and do the double front decrease, as described in the tutorial.
