Nice, but too much talking in English (in my opinion)
I love your energy! You really happy while you teach us arabic and you make us happy too! Thanks for the free lessons. May Allah bless you! Respect from Romania🇷🇴!
Yes mrs Maha we need that lesson about male and female expressions like you said pls make a video about that thanks 😊
😅
Agreed, really weird phenomenon that I would an explanation for
yes, please Maha❤
When I started learning Arabic at university, back in 2011, Maha's videos and positivity made me to not quit my studies.. 😁😁
Maha, thank you so much for so useful and good videos.
مرحبًا بكِ من سراييفو 🇧🇦
May i knkw Where r u from?
Thanks Maha. Your videos have been greatly helping me to understand and appreciate the Arab culture through the spoken language. So yes please to a separate video detailing why the male and female nouns get switched in the Palestinian dialect.
It is just a tool to show/use as a term of endearment, and (I think) is only used in the Levant and maybe Egypt as well (probably more in Egyptian songs rather than locally). In everyday use it is mainly used towards children and babies, but also to the spouse in some circumstances. Its use is not necessarily consistent even within 1 sentence.
For example, if I see a baby girl I might say: habibi sho helo hal amar (translates to my dear (male) how beautiful (male) this moon is). Or I can say: habibi meen hay el ammoura? (my dear (male), who is this beauty (female)) - which is also asking the parents what her name is.
In Levantine, and maybe some Egyptian, music, the male versions of love words are often used to refer to females, as a term of endearment as well. However, female singers don't typically use female terms to describe male lovers. Though you could do that to male children/babies.
Thank you Maha!!! This is exactly the type of practical lesson we need!
You make this lesson very fun.
Love to just listen to you and your little stories even if I am not really paying attention to actually learn.
You are the best teacher ever. I really mean what I'm saying. And you have very good energy. Thank you a lot. I from Romania. And I have some Israeli friends but they are Arab. And I learning from them Arabic. They teach me street language. But I really like the way you teach. And the many examples you give us. May God bless you 🙏
Hello, madam! I really loved your video! I learnt a lot of new things!
Ciao, signora! Mi è piacuito il tuo video! Ho imparato molte cose nuove! Thanks a lot!
Grazie mille!
Shukraan jazilan!
I love listening to your lessons Maha! That would be very helpful to list the taught word/expression in the description of each video. Keep doing your great work!
Yes..I agree..to post w words so we can write them down& practice..to remember it well ..Shuhkran😊❤❤❤
Maha, thank you so much! This was splendid as usual 😍 can I also use رلمة addressing a woman? And, yes!, I'm looking forward for your explanation about changing gender when addressing loved ones. You're great, girl, keep up your wonderful job! 👏👏👏
I am a native speaker would you like to be my friend on facebook ! . We can practice to gather then I will learn English and you will learn Arabic .
As a native speaker I don't think it can be used to address a female. It just doesn't sound right or normal.
Well if you use it with a woman , be ready to be slapped or punched in the face or get a very dirty look at least, use حبيبتي ، استاذة ، عزيزتي، in normal conversations , or use يا خايسة if there is an intention to blame, or يا حرمة which is kinda pejorative. Also مرة ( marah) with single " r" is equivalent to زلمة in many instances.
@@herooja nah حرمة is basically mean a women in gulf countries
You're so gifted in teaching
Pleeeease more about the F-M M-F phenomenon, it’s so interesting
Maybe using 'ya zalame' with your daughter is similar to how we say 'hey guys' to females too! I'm also interested in hearing a video about using the feminine words in addressing men and vice versa
Great videos as always dear maha!
زلمة is not an Arabic word. It is Syriac. It means young man.
@@nadimmahjoub
Which has been an integrated part of all the Arabic dialects of the Levant or بلد الشام
Since certain words or place names are derived from Aramaic, Samaritan, Canaanite, Syriac & Hebrew
@@mikhailabunidal9146 we use it to refer hot guy,or cruel guy sometimes even misogynistic
& female zal3ma'h
indeed, here in our country as well, when we say guys, we're addressing to girls
@Bluegem
In which country is that? In Britain it is used to address any group of people, not only girls.
Absolutely you look beautiful teacher.
Amazing lesson. Shukran
Hi Maha, i worked in the Gulf for a long time but really I didn't learn this many words as you teach. You are such a good teacher. Thx
I'd be interested in learning more on the male-female switched terms!
Thanks for the teaching and this video.... Greeting from Malaysia...
You are so charismatic! Wallah, I’m enjoying watching your videos 😍🥰
Literally.. Love your videos ❤
From OMAN 🇴🇲
It's super interesting the male/female thing. My sitto (grandma) always called me Ya mama when I was a kid.
AMA teaching madame 😘 I'm working and living in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia for 26 years n stilled on going.enta mabedik yal umrik
Ya Haraam is like the United States' Southern "Bless your heart!" Many times it's said when something bad happens, like 'Bless your poor heart, I'm sorry that happened" but it's often used in moment's exactly as you described! New baby? "Bless your heart... aren't you precious!"
Thank you, this was fun. Arabic is absolutely beautiful. I love just listening to you talk!

Yeahhhh part 2!!!!
one more yes for the M /F lesson Mrs. Maha.Thank you for the lonely lesson.
Yes please i have been adressed as a man twice , allways wondered why ! Zjazakkillahu gairan !
Maha you should add the fatha, casra and Dummah to each words that way peoples will understand better. Example in the word Tab3an you add the fathatan.
Sei meravigliosa maestra Maha! Vorrei gestire una classe numerosa come la tua! ❤️
Nice collection, 🌻all these words are widely used in the Levantine dialect 👍
@Golden Crown Palestinian dialect is Levantine
@@veronicaperea2573 please help if you can.. I’m learning Arabic with Pimsleur and I have a Palestinian friend .. If I want to learn his dialect should I learn Modern Standard Arabic, Egyptian Arabic, or eastern Arabic .. Those are the 3 options.. He is Palestinian which one of those dialects is his..? 🤔
@@ajbravens20 Don’t quote me exactly but I believe Eastern Arabic is probably what you’re looking for. If you want to speak the Arabic that will be understood throughout all Arab speaking countries then you want MSA. But if you want to learn the Palestinian dialect then you want the Levantine and Shami dialect which I believe Eastern Arabic covers. I started with MSA and after a couple years decided on the dialect I was most interested in which I then chose Palestinian. ❤️🖤🤍💚
@@veronicaperea2573 thanks so much this really helps and your correct on everything thanks 🙏🏾
@@veronicaperea2573
We know ( i.e. some of us ) that it's Levantine it falls under one of the four Levantine Arabic dialects
Mam your lessons are best
Another amazing lesson Mrs Maha!!! It is so incredibile the way you teach and make me love shami dialect. Just a request: when you make examples you speak too fast; it would be helpful to have them written. Shukran jasilan.

تايلند بانتظارك يا ست مها يا هلا بيكي في كل وقت
Hi I am actually Jordanian and I am still a kid and I really want to learn more Arabic because I have my family that speaks Arabic and I’m Always asking my parents what does that mean what does that mean and I have only watched will be three of your videos and it helped me so much❤
Yes i do want an explanation why arabs use male adj for female...hadi aswad uses its in his song wenak...instead of wenek f ...so yes plz
@نحن جند السماء thank u for ur answer ...i never could understand so now i know better😘
Nice mam all the best 👍 God gift your job
hi, its really interesting to learn that you can say "yimkin" for maybe, but I've also learnt "momken" is that the same thing but just said differently in different regions?
Yes it's the same.just different pronunciation
Momken (ممكن) literally means maybe.
Yimkin (يمكن) means could and you would use it in a sentence like "yes he could...".
Remember in Arabic you construct the words from one basis and then you have several signification which depends on what you add onto this basis.
But in an oral informal conversation you can use both to say maybe no problem.
I am interested to know more about using adjectives with their opposite gender, please.
You’re an entertaining arabic teacher. And you’ve an earned a subscriber
Am happy with this lesson of arabic
LOVE YOUR VIDEO! You explain the origins of the expressions so well and it's so entertaining to watch and learn! I don't feel like it's "work" at all, thank you!
Madam maha very useful lesson....
. I think this will help me when watching Arabic soap operas. شوكرا
Taal ya habibi. Kaif alek intha. Hada lesson tamam. Ana amaref arabi zain. Shweya aref☺👍
Shookran ya2 Ma7a 7abibty. I think all my female cousins from Brooklyn, NY, use `man [oh, maaaaaaaaaaaaaan]` when they address each other or their girlfriends. It sounds pretty normal for me to hear them say `ya zalame` the same way I use it with my friends. I`m also looking for an Arabic-speaking tandem partner that wants to practice their English [or Spanish or Portuguese] and help me to learn Arabic.
It was totally different and awesome 👍💝
Excellent sharing
I also use “tikram” as in thank you
tikram hhh, Lebanese dialect
Very nice words
את כזו מתוקה ומהממת ❤❤❤
לומדת ערבית ממך והדרך שלך כל כך מדהימה וכייפית

Such a big help. Shukran.
Thank you so muche Maha for this vid' !! Very fun and usefull !!
Yes maha please make a lesson about switiching the genders in arabic! I have heard arabs doing this a lot calling women or girls using male grammar. And once a lybian friend of mine told me she had an entire conversation between herself her parents and her brothers but somehow the whole conversation became feminine haha.
Totally looking forward to seeing part 2, and the explanation of the female / male vocative thing going on, sounds really specific. Love you, you re awesome ! ❤️
