wow i loved the Butterfly by kerstin gershau. it seems like it connects to another skill. i love unique skills and combinations. i wish there were more of them.
Thank you very much for such a valuable publication. Note, at 25', it's currently labeled a split-full, but it appears to be a tour jete plus 1/2 turn (Diff. "D" by Marta Pihan-Kulesza). Then, a real split-full appears at 54' (Diff. "C" by Lui Juan). Thanks again! :)
I was reading an old newsletter, which gives updates on new skills and on the code, from 2006 and it lists the switch Yang Bo as an E element and it is called the Pang
A jump, as defined by the FIG, is a take off from two feet to land on one or two feet. A sissone is a split jump that takes off of two feet and lands on one, but the split does not have to be parallel to the ground like a split jump has to.
@MostepanovaFan Thank you :) You know so much about gymnastics, that's amazing. I watched the routine. It was really beautiful. Wobbly but still beautiful. I especially liked her mount and how she combined it. I wish more gymnasts would do mounts like that instead of simply jumping onto the beam just because it's less risky. And her sheep jump was beautiful, too :))
@goldnangl3000 the split leap is taken off from 1 foot, and you leap forward. but for split jump, you take off from both of your feet and only stay in the same place
We see a somewhat similar version of a switch wolf at 3:24 by Olaru. And Deng Linlin does it on floor, I believe. I wonder if we'll ever see a switch sheep. Maybe on floor. Probably a C or a D on floor. Basically a ring leap but the front leg comes back to join the back leg? It seems possibly. I wish we'd see more butterflies. Just gorgeous.
The skill performed by Mitova in this video is not a split jump - it's a scissone (two foot take-off, one foot landing). Similarly, the skill performed by Loaies is a stag scissone, not a stag leap. Switch ring leap may be performed with the back leg straight and it's considered the same element as with the back leg bent (per article 7 in the code).
I agree with Munch. I think the skill would be the same DV as a switch ring (it's not in the COP). Getting the necessary oversplit AND keeping the back leg straight AND properly doing the switch to set it up may make this harder than the switch ring. They're hammering the switch ring in the current COP for the back leg shape (needs to be an "o") to give it an E.
Wonderful video as always, thank you very much! Question: I can't find the Switch Yang Bo jump on the code, and I'm sure it has been done several times: Pang panpan did it in 2006 and recntly Wu Liufang did it at AYOF. Am I missing something?
Pang Panpan did the switch Yang Bo in 2006; Search for: "2006 Worlds Team Finals Pang PanPan BB" Why his leap is not included on the code? Or it's under the same name as the yang Bo jump?
Well just 7 years later but here it is: Jump: 2 feet are used to take off height and also is landed on 2 feet Leap: only 1 foot is used to take off height but the landing is on 2 feet Hop: 1 single foot is used to take off height and ALSO is landed on 1 foot Hope it helps
what is the jump called where they basically jump in the air and flutter their feet, like they were going to start a straddle jump, but their legs never actually get more than a foot or so apart? Is that jump not in the code of points?
does anybody know when the Sheep Jump was first performed? I mean, nowadays (let's say since the 2000s) you see them quite often but does anybody know a gymnast who performed it in the 90s or even earlier?
Then I guess you have watched EF. I was talking about team finals. The skill is well completed, but she fell. You're right, on EF it wasn't perfectly completed. Anyway, anybody knows why this leap is not listed in the code?
Back in the 1990s and early 2000s there was this very popular jump between gymnasts, some of the broadcsters called it a "tweet jump" (you can see it Lobaznyuk do it right after her front sommie mount) th-cam.com/video/rhJjcspmbdU/w-d-xo.html Does someone know what is the correct name of that jump?
ok.. the henrich skill is just lame.. if she cant hit 180degrees in her jump that shouldnt even be called a skill.. split leap with bend leg..?? thats just really stupid..
i need to get these types of jumps and leap series in my freaking routine, its a must
The music was so soothing! My dogs and I almost fell asleep. lol Great montage!!

i think switch ring and sheep jump are the most beautiful elements
Thank you thank you so much for this video. It's nice to know what some of these jumps and leaps are called.
Could you do a guide on turns and their value? It'd probably be a pretty short video but I'm curious about it. Always enjoy your guides, thanks!
@goldnangl3000 the split leap is taken off from 1 foot, and you leap forward. but for split jump, you take off from both of your feet and only stay in the same place
this has been really useful. Thanks for posting.
Anna Pavlova has the best Switch Ring Leap. So confident
Yes, there is. Wu Liufang did a switch Yang Bo at the AYOF. Type "2009 AYOF Wu Liufang BB". It's the leap she was attempting when she fell.
Another awesome job!!!!
@ParanoidAndroidDA a leap has running or skipping etc. before the leap, a jump is from standing.
You are my hero, Mostepanovafan.
Thanks for the clarification

In the code of points every skill is given a number, that is what the code is.
I like that wolf hop!
A leap for me is like a difficulty level z
I love ring leaps and double stags :) they're so pretty and so fun to do! :) sheep jumps make me mad though lol
GREAT VIDEO!
thanx so much!!!
a split leap with full turn is off of one foot
a split jump with full turn is off of both :)
Moste you've done it again - another montage that captures the beauty of gymnastics! What's the name of the music? It was lovely.
So true. I love Mostep :)
Wonderful video as always, thank you very much!
Question: I can't find the Switch Yang Bo jump on the code, and I'm sure it has been done several times: Pang panpan did it in 2006 and recntly Wu Liufang did it at AYOF. Am I missing something?
i wish more people competed yang bo's jump
@unevercalled One of them is a split leap with a full turn and one of them is a split jump with a full turn, they are not the same element.
Thanks soooo much!!! I'll be studying to understand gymnastics better.
The music was soooo beautiful too!!! What is it called?
how can you tell the difference between a split leap and a split jump?
Some of these seem way undervalued in the code!
@21najafast The earliest one I have ever seen was Yuka Arai of Japan at the 1994 Worlds, I don't know if anyone performed it before her though
It is Claudine by Maksim, and thank you :)
Pang Panpan did the switch Yang Bo in 2006; Search for:
"2006 Worlds Team Finals Pang PanPan BB"
Why his leap is not included on the code? Or it's under the same name as the yang Bo jump?
What's the difference between a tour jete and a switch split leap with a half turn.
is the move called the Johnson named after Shawn Johnson or someone else?
Could you do a turns and jumps guide for floor?
No, they are different people. Liu Juan was competing around 2005 but I think she has retired now
I wanting to let you know that the gymnastic Floor Exercise Leaps, Jumps, Hops guides is not working, can you make a new one please?
A split leap has straight legs, a ring leap has the back leg bent and head thrown back.
What's the difference between a split jump and a sissone?
What's the difference among a jump, a leap, and a hop?
Well just 7 years later but here it is:
Jump: 2 feet are used to take off height and also is landed on 2 feet
Leap: only 1 foot is used to take off height but the landing is on 2 feet

what is the difference between a switch split leap and a switch split ring leap??
Beautiful song!!! Whats The title??
Split Ring Leap is a D in 2013-2016 Code.
Can someone tell me what really is a Butterfly? It looks like she performs Aerial Cartwheel to me.
me too
what is the jump called where they basically jump in the air and flutter their feet, like they were going to start a straddle jump, but their legs never actually get more than a foot or so apart? Is that jump not in the code of points?
im not sure i call it a beat jump but that's not the professional name
but you land on one foot on a sissone right?
@natalienat518 thanks! it clears things up :)
does anybody know when the Sheep Jump was first performed? I mean, nowadays (let's say since the 2000s) you see them quite often but does anybody know a gymnast who performed it in the 90s or even earlier?
im well confused lol theres 2 split jumps with a full turn 1 is c difficulty and 1 is d :S lol which 1 is it
She didn't fall off, she went straight into her back tuck dismount out of it
Aren't there 3/4 wolf and split jumps anymore?
Aren't wolf jumps 3/4 and split jumps 3/4 in the code anymore?
isn't the tour jete a switch leg sissone?
Since when is a strattle jump an A? A person on my team had one in her routine, and it was a B I believe
anyone know what this music is? / what this song is called?
the split jump at 00:36 is actually a sissone
Then I guess you have watched EF. I was talking about team finals. The skill is well completed, but she fell. You're right, on EF it wasn't perfectly completed.
Anyway, anybody knows why this leap is not listed in the code?
I believe a straddle jump is a C value skill and a B in side stand.. There's no way it got devalued to an A
Not really, because the split jump is parallel to the floor while a sissone does not need to be parallel to the floor.
pause at 3:58 ^^
Who is here a decade later?
Me!!! LOL
Has anyone ever done a switch ring leap and yang bo combo?
Anna Pavlova switch ring
Back in the 1990s and early 2000s there was this very popular jump between gymnasts, some of the broadcsters called it a "tweet jump" (you can see it Lobaznyuk do it right after her front sommie mount) th-cam.com/video/rhJjcspmbdU/w-d-xo.html

beat jump
@@leapjumpsoar8049 Thank you
One turn outwards while the other one turn inwards.
The question that is still debated to this day:
Why is the sheep jump called the sheep jump?
lol.
A pike jump is a B...
Straddle jump is a B.
Eesh. What is with the hate?
ok.. the henrich skill is just lame.. if she cant hit 180degrees in her jump that shouldnt even be called a skill.. split leap with bend leg..?? thats just really stupid..
no nastia has beauty lines and elegance. was better then shannon miller
what's the difference between a split leap and a split jump?
