    I just finished the job. All of the other videos are the wrong model or are drive cables despite searching for brake cable. This model has some oddities that make it difficult to service. This video helped quite a bit!

    Thank you so much!!! I replaced the air filter and spark plug and then noticed a broken plastic piece near the blade brake cable, and found out this cable was seized up, which is why my mower wouldn't start. But damn complicated designs!!! You make it easier :)

    Thank you for taking time to make this video. I kept coming across videos that were almost what I needed,, but then after a few seconds of watching them I realized that they were for different cables, not the brake cable. Your video was really helpful. I just finished replacing mine. The detail that you put into it helped me with a couple of things that I was having trouble with. My mower is now working just fine!

      You're welcome. Not a great video for my first but, I couldn't find anything on it so I thought it was time to put something out there.

    Thank you very much for this video. Successfully replaced the blade brake cable and your video helped with multiple aspects of the repair. As others have said, your video is unique as the 20333 model is different from the other videos I found. Thanks again!

    Thanks so much. Bigtime ditto on the other comments. Must have watched a hundred videos trying to find 20333 blade brake repair before getting to your take. Excellent job. You the WOman!
    (Actually my hardest part was positioning the cable in that black rubber guide/holder on the underside; quite tedious. Had to remove the guide completely. You did not spend any time on that so I do not know if you had a similar issue.)

    Excellent Video, This video also applies to Toro Model 20076, cable 107-0799. The little keeper on the handle lever gets pried off with a flat tip screw driver. If that plastic knob on the same end (handle end of cable) breaks off, use some WD40 to get it to slip out. Watch for the hidden cover bolt on electric start models under the battery box. This is easy, you can do it.

    Heavy price? $20 dollars compared to hundreds when taking it to a repair guy.

    Great video!....I'm looking for a replacement part for my Toro 22" Personal Pace "SmartStow"...the Blade Control bar fell off in transit on a trailer and cannot find a part number anywhere?? I can find replacement cables that connect into the control bar but not the control bar itself. Any help is appreciated.

      Try looking here: www.toro.com/en/parts/partdetails/?id=26690 then here: www.toro.com/en/parts/partdetails/?id=26690 it is likely one of the two #8 items.

    How did you tighten the black plastic piece that holds the brake cable? I got the bolt on but the screw turns with it

    • @dglassme
      @dglassme  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Michael are you referring to the black cap that is on the lever to engage the blade? That's a cap that holds the end of the cable in place, you tap it on, it's a force fit.

    Does the new cable come with the plastic piece at the top that you took out by twisting?
    Mine broke in half
    If not, is that part available?
    I cant even find a name for that part on the internet
    Thank you so much for any help

      Sorry, only the cable comes under that part number. I searched all over to find the cable part #, no idea about the plastic piece.

    How did you remove the cap on the lever

    • @dglassme
      @dglassme  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Twisted it off with vice grips, if you are careful you should be able to reuse it.

    I have a mower the same model as this one. I need to replace the drive belt, and haven't been able to find a video which shows how that is done. It is the longer of the two belts shown on your video, that goes back to the transmission. I spent several frustrating hours trying to figure out how to get the blade brake assembly off so that I could install the new belt. Any ideas or links to a helpful video? Thanks.

    How did you get the cover off without taking the wheels off

    • @dglassme
      @dglassme  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are bolts on top, on the main body of the mower.

    • @michaelbinder7348
      @michaelbinder7348 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The only screws that are "blocked" by the wheels can be reached by changing the adjustment on the wheels. All the way up for the one on the top, and all the way down for the one on the bottom.

    My blade won't turn. Do you know if this cable has anything to do with that?

    • @dglassme
      @dglassme  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Potentially, yes, if this cable is broke your blade will not turn. This cable has to be engaged, pulled back, in order for the blade to turn, otherwise there is a brake shoe stopping it from turning. The cable pulls that brake shoe away from the rotor allowing the blade to turn. It is a safety mechanism.

      @@dglassme Thanks. I got it to work. I think it just needs to rest for a day whenever I use it.

      They pinch in on the side after you take the bolts out.

    Video was tremendously helpful! Your mower appears to have had the exact same problem that mine just had. Found the replacement part on Amazon from Stens (www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009S9A5ZO). I pried off the speed nut (3290-337) using the claw part of a hammer on one side and a large flathead screwdriver on the other. Removing it broke one of the little tabs, but it still seated back onto that stub with some pliers. If it comes off again, I guess I could super glue it back. When reinstalling the two covers, I found that I had to seat them together before inserting into position to get the screws back in. With the blade brake cover installed, I could not get the back cover get into place. I am curious about one thing - you mentioned in the video that you found something saying you need to lubricate that cable. Where did you find this information? What type of lube should be used?
