You could put your silver that's left over around the edge of your pyramid that you have been putting your leftovers in. Then when you fill it up a little more with a leftover color it will have a silver ring around the outside. Just a thought.
Those all turned out just beautiful. Love them. Glad to see you use your new homemade mold.
    Have a great Sunday!💗🎨🌞

Very nice !!! They look like little pool's of water. Have you ever thought of using sand for your beach theme ? I got some in my local Walmart in the flower department. I think it would look amazing in one of your beach coasters. You are getting quite good at pouring resin and making your own molds !!! If that makes you happy keep doing it. Just keep being you. What makes you happy makes us happy to watch. 🥰

i have actually done a lot of epoxy/resin once you put your resin in cups, you can actually use any color of spray paint in the resin and works beautifully. I used a mirrored silver metallic the other day for coasters with silver foil and white center they were gorgeous

Julie, I absolutely adore these coasters. You did a fantastic job making the mold. Try adding center after everything else has set up to keep it from dispersing so much into other colors. Once that starts to set up, you can do your dome coat. Fantastic job! I think it is great that you enjoy experimenting with this. I must say that you do excellent displays. Thanks for sharing.

I would like to see the two blues only, no white, then a lot of clear after you let the first two colors set up in the mold a little, then add the flakes. These are still very nice and I don’t mind that they all look different as long as they all have the same colors

These are gorgeous Julie. You are a bundle of fun and a breath of fresh air, and clever too. I haven't done any resin-ing as yet, but I wondered, maybe if you put the colour and silver in first, wait a couple of hours for it to cure, then top it up with the clear - and hopefully the silver will have stayed put, in the centre? However, I love your coasters, even when the centre has dispersed. I have M. E. and haven't been able to start resin pours just yet, but am hoping to try it soon. In the meantime, I just love watching you do yours!! Have a great weekend, luv Val x

Oooh, beautiful. I've worked with resin for 2 years now and I still love it. It holds my interest. I feel so stingy with the amount of pigments I use - compared to yourself 😀. Gold leaf... I only use perhaps 5 bits of silver or gold foil. I tend to use a lollipop stick to measure my pigments, I only use a small scoop. You'll find with pigments, you get what you pay for...like anything else x

you could lay the gold/silver leaf foils flat and sandwich them between two flat surfaces (like a couple books or coasters!) fold them to a working stiffness and cut them with scissors into smaller pieces. then you could put them back in the jar, like foil-fetti. might make it easier to handle

    Hi Julie,
I have heard from other resin artists that all mica’s are not the same. That some use fillers which is why you need more.

Earth pigments come from dirt- like oxides and others are made in a lab- like quinacridones or Azo's, and so there are many pigments for a similar color but different strength or staining power, like perfume. boutique sellers make their own blends and yes they can cut in binders, fillers or opacifers

Ps...I don't know if this is what you mean but I find that when I've used powders, I always get surface powders gathering on the top. If you spray Isopropyl alcohol on it, it'll help to dissipate the powder and help with surface bubbles x

You need to wear long sleeves and have a heavy duty mask like a filtered 3m one because the chemicals are dangerous. Do not have any kids or animals in the room as well. There’s a few woodworker that work with resin that you can see how they buff and sand it. They make it super shinny as well. Just a few tips.

You can save the resin if you close it with a lit and put it in the refrigerator down 7 or more below 0. It will get a delay in hardening because it neads heath to harden

Hi Julie! What a beautiful set! When you were pouring I noticed something happen that's been an issue for me before and I never knew why until I saw you do 6 together and could see the variation in technique. Those ones where the white came up and took over (your 3-5th coasters) you poured the clear in far faster and I think from higher also and it seemed to almost create a small wave action in the resin instead of just flowing slowly out. I'm super new so I may be wrong, but I think your idea of doing each coaster start to finish may solve this. Keep up the great videos!

I’m not positive but when I do resin in molds I don’t torch them to pop bubbles. I actually use a long BBQ lighter to pop them and my molds never stick. This may actually help with your clear centers. It’s worth a try.

There are fillers in some.. but it’s not necessarily about container size either. Most companies sell by weight which can confuse people as not all pigments weigh the same..

frosty, icy blue...would be great for a Christmas holiday party, huh? I’m jealous of your cool weather right now. Mica is natural, but the dyes they use to color it might not be. I bought some titanium dioxide powder the other day to play with, and I have no idea if it’s natural. I do know there are some natural pigments out there, but I’m betting most need added binders and dispersent materials to make them dissolve in paints and resin. Love to you this day!

    • @astyiafranken1639
      @astyiafranken1639 3 ปีที่แล้ว

You could but it helps it sink down in the resin so it’s a flat surface. Also flakes are super messy and it would be difficult to place them only in the center without the resin. Hope that helps
