    - KINGSLEY NORTH -
    Kingsley North is a lapidary store in Michigan's U.P. They make a great cab machine and sell many other brands too. They have a huge selection rough rock, tumblers, grit, jewelry supplies etc. at good prices. I buy most of my coarse grit from here in 45 lb. bags. It's the best price I have found. If you buy using the following link, I make a small commission.

    I buy a lot of lapidary supplies from The Rock Shed. I don't make money from your purchases there, but they have good prices and good service. This is where I buy my finer grits and polish.

    I also have an Amazon storefront. This is where you can find other products you may have seen in my videos. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. It doesn't cost you extra.

    Cuyuna has some very interesting minerals, including some unique to that iron range. I have an idea what some of your "mystery" rocks were, but as always would have to see them in person to know for sure. If you go to our old friend Mindat, they have a pretty good explanation of Binghamite and the Cuyuna Range in general.

      I dragged a bunch of quartz home from that area because I didn’t know what to look for. After tumbling even the white slabs of quartz have beautiful shiny patches of yellow binghamite and shiny black veins. I love this rock! I learned about it on your channel. I only live an hour away.

    When you find a round rock out of place, not near a river or stream start looking around for artifacts.

    • @MichiganRocks
      @MichiganRocks  ปีที่แล้ว

      That seems like a good tip, but does it work in northern areas that were once covered by glaciers? Around where I live, almost all rocks are rounded and were deposited by glaciers. In this quarry, the only reason the rocks were not round was because they were mined. Obviously the mining took place long after native artifacts would have been left there, so any rounded rocks would have been left there by somebody in more modern times. Am I missing something, or is that advice better for places without glacial deposits all over?
