You're such a music historian that you probably know this already but others might not know that Whitney's mum did that high backing vocal on Aretha's original recording.
@firelord_ozai I thought the same til I seen Cynthia Erivo backup singer do it as Cynthia sing this very same song she was flawless check it out when you get a chance.
I’d love to see you react to her singing Eternal Love when she was just 16 years old. It’s only an audio but you can tell from way back then that she was phenomenal. This was a 2 night event and even though Whitney was past her prime she was phenomenal both nights. Her rendition of Ain’t No Way both nights were outstanding. The other version of this song she starts to sing the high note and the background singer had to let the mic drop because Whitney went off. That’s the thing, even at the end Whitney’s head voice was a force to be reckoned with.
In 97 I was so disappointed with these performances because I was use to 80s and early 90s Whitney. Looking at it now Miss Houston did the damn thing. Another amazing performance
Whitney Change her style again during this era 80s Whitney different from early 90s Whitney and late 90s Whitney vocals was so mature I love her voice in this era.
Quite Happy to have found your channel! There’s so much that can be said about Whitney Houston brilliance! From this concert, you might like to do a video reaction of the Diana Ross cover… if you have 10min to spare hahaha! Otherwise just her rendition of “The Boss” (first day of the concert) or the live of “why does it hurt so bad” listening to this with headphones is terrifying in the power of her voice over an orchestra ensemble
It’s still on YT as part of the entire concert in DC, although the video is covered so it’s basically only audio. Her estate probably made a takedown notice for all the other videos of her two DC concert concerts a while back. I used to watch them regularly, so I was kind of bummed they all dissapeared of YT.
Another great review. This is probably Whitney's best performance of this song. It is taken from the dress rehearsal for her HBO special CLASSIC WHITNEY. During the actual live telecast, Whitney's voice wasn't at its best and she rambled at times, causing the show to run long. As a result, for future showings, HBO showed the dress rehearsal instead.
I give props to Whitney for doing this song in her own wonderful way instead of trying to copy Aretha. Whitney's background singer slayed her part! That being said, I still prefer Aretha's original with Cissy Houston's back-up, followed by Patti Labelle's cover in a live performance honoring Aretha, with Aretha in attendance.
This performance by WH was good; however, her performances in 1994 were better to me because her voice was in better shape. Around this time, many of us knew why her voice was changing. The crazy part is even on her bad days or days where her voice wasn’t at its best, she still sounded better than many singers nowadays. You’re right about Aretha’s version of Ain’t No Way being better though. Not too many people can cover her songs. I think as amazing and divine as Whitney’s voice was, when she did the cover version during The Bodyguard Tour (1994), it’s was something about it that still made me favor Aretha’s version of it. Whitney’s version was phenomenal, but it just seemed like maybe she was too much of a technical singer to sang that song. Her other cover versions of Aretha’s songs were perfect. Ain’t No Way…..I over her version, but I like Aretha’s better.
There will never be another Whitney Houston ✨
100%
This truly deserved standing ovation for Nippy and the Backup ladies. Amazing
Its Whitney control for me....she is simply THE VOICE i have literally watched this 10 times in a row.
Whitney is a Queen and a great singer! ❤😢😢😢

Yes! I found out after I did the Aretha reaction. 😊. Thank you!!
What can I say it's Whitney! 🤩
Brividi … magnifica whitney ❤🌹
Love it! Whitney knew what an important detail her mom’s part in that song was! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
So happy to find a reaction video from a fan! especially for this part of the live... The video has disappeared from TH-cam, it's sad 😢
I loooove Whitney. I will never not support her. She’s definitely the best to ever do it. Yeah. I saw that the videos were gone suddenly. 😔
Whitney simplesmente espetacular.
Always fabulous 💖
To this day i still have not heard anyone sing cissy houston high note better than she did

You should react to her doing the Aretha Franklin medley live 1994

Save this video! I can't find the original performance anymore on TH-cam

Sy smith
Question: How many times did Aretha sing this song after recording it? I have only heard the original version and never heard her sing it live.
Not sure if i watch your reactions for the reaction or your great smile
Lol. Aww. Thank you either way. 😊
@@awordfrompresidentpat1985 I would love for you to react to ‘Ain’t No Way’ that she did in 1994 Uniondale
Do you happen to know where we can find the full version of this concert?
No you need to check out the one by Whitney in Philadelphia during The bodyguard tour
Queria que Gabriel Henrique cantasse essa. Seria a glória.
Please kindly react to Whitney "All the Man that I Need"
A suggestion worth listening to is Lolo - Shine
I can't believe the took this down from TH-cam and now to watch it have to have you in the video wtf
Can we talk about miss Houston gown and body
GOAT 🤩
