@bigbof6527 I agree about Whitney...but Céline Dion, Aretha Franklin, Barbra Streisand...and many others, who didn't need "melismas" and "whistle notes" to get noticed...? Where we leave them... they are ICONS that will stand the test of time, without glitters, extensions, and prosthetics anywhere.
That movie is a master piece, I have seen it many times and love it! And yes, it is about Moses. Seeing Whitney Houston makes me sad, what a terrible and unnecessary loss.
THey sound like this live. I know with so many new artists we are not use to actual singers. BUT these two sound like this live. Listen to their live version. They are only known for their voices. Yes they have acted in movies but Whitney and Mariah are 100% the real deal. Love your reaction.
But you guys grew up in the late 90’s right? How could you’ve missed this song? It must have been played tons on one of the radio channels you guys listened to? This song won an Oscar. Performed by literally the two greatest voices in music, this song will be the greatest duet ever.
There are tons of artists and songs they've never heard of that were popular in the 90s. Maybe they didn't listen to the radio as much or too young to pay attention
Love this song. Both were just perfect. I also love that they became friends, and have meet at times for a low-key coffie or dinner. Mariah was at Whitneys funeral.
It's been a while I haven't watched this video or listened to this song and I'm crying my eyes out. I was 14 when that came out and it was a sight to behold. I'm feeling very nostalgic for things we'll never have again and am SO THANKFUL that Mariah is with us and giving us her music. May God protect her always.
The live recording footage and audio of this is very cool. With Babyface at the soundboard. Whitney looked more secure with the song at first - but their camaraderie and affection was real, for sure. Unlike so many superstar duets - this one was recorded with Mariah and Whitney in the studio together, side by side.
You two are flippin' awesome. I came across you in my TH-cam algorithm recently - in no small part thanks to Ms Kylie Minogue, no doubt - and your joyous appreciation here, and with many other videos I've watched so far, is so wonderful and refreshing to watch (especially seeing you react to stuff I grew up listening to, and/or watching)😊. Thank you for your service to the internet and looking forward to tuning in to many more reactions to come, gents! Andy in Amsterdam x #48yearsyoung😊
The only reason why this song didn’t hit Top Ten or Number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 was because both fan bases did not want the other singer to get another number 1 hit. Sad.
oh this truly a treat! to react to this very special once-in-a-lifetime duet! So proud of you guys for showing range and being so curious and excited by black music! it is from the prince of egypt. not so fun fact: although babyface was one of the writers of the song, the principal songwriter left his name off of the oscar nomination therefore he didn't win an Oscar when they did. aint that a blip.
The collar that Nippy wears, I think is made of leather like the dress... perhaps by Lorenzo Riva, an Italian designer who created many dresses for her.. He wears a similar version in the video th-cam.com/video/6J538b-OLRU/w-d-xo.html Look winking at leather SM, a classic of LGBTQ clubs, at disco parties and gay nights at the end of the 90s, the version became an anthem - and spent three weeks at the top of the Billboard Dance chart in 1999 - and was the remix of Thunderpuss , nine minutes. Coincidentally, the two had never met, neither before nor after... must there be a reason!? They didn't like each other. Aside from the crocodile tears, which Carey pretended to shed when Nippy died... obviously always for the camera... I don't think she tore her wig over the loss, in private...
How about hearing Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston in the same song, performed by a man? Watch and react to Gabriel Henrique on AGT 2023, as he won the Golden Buzzer! It's absurdly good!
I always thought they should have done a big production out in the desert for this music video. To have them walking on a stage with a bunch of screens around them seemed a bit lackluster for MARIAH CAREY and WHITNEY HOUSTON! This was the first time these women worked together, after the rivalry was squashed. This was a big deal at the time.
@@rigust12 lol 😂, Yes they definitely were. Mariah was at least. They never talked to each other until this duet, because of it. Bebe Winans even said Whitney tried to talk to Mariah, and Mariah ignored her.
@@AnalyzingWithAaron I am trying to figure for what reason Mariah was . Do U know ? Is there any besides the intention behind the questions like "what do U think about Mariah Carey?" if U understand the videos I am referring to.
This song proved something that I felt for a while. Mariah's voice sounds better on a record because it is very resonate and airy so it fills more space. Whitney's voice is tamed down on the recording and you get a better grasp of her power in live performances.
Mariah’s voice is very intricate. I’ve never felt that Mariah sounds better on record. Her live performances are just as glorious as the record if not more. You can also grasp the power she has as a vocalist especially around the time of her first two albums where her vocal fullness and power were on full display because of those albums stylistic choices. She also had many vocal transitions and she was going through one during this time of her career. So very resonant always and a beautiful one of a kind voice. She’s been incredible throughout her career.
@@diorrboyyyy This is false. Mariah has many 100 percent live performances but I’m not going to entertain this comment from someone who has the audacity to be ignorant under a video celebrating two incredible voices.
@@Rico-x2g : MC was dubbed in Oprah. They fixed her part because she was raspy and hoarse. They also dubbed and fixed her Still Believe performance. Whitney was fully live with no dubbing at all.
The 2 greatest voices the mainstream music has ever seen!

A magical moment in music history with these two voices coming together. This song also won the Oscar that year. My 16 year old heart singing.

Two Voices, two divas = ♥️
The best live performance of this song is in The Oprah Winfrey show
That movie is a master piece, I have seen it many times and love it! And yes, it is about Moses.

The last high note 6:11 that Mariah did was so emotion💞
I used to listen to this song over and over and then the instrumental (on the single) over and over to sleep/stay up all night 😅
We need more Whitney!!!! her rare live performances
Yes more Whitney
A beautiful duet. I find Whitney simply mesmerizing though to watch.
