It’s a cool premise, but it’s completely backwards from the real reason for sending out the dove. You hope the dove does not come back if it comes back it’s because there is no land for it. When it stops coming back, it means it found land and it no longer has to return to the boat.
This is, by far, the best comment I have seen on this video. I know this runs counter to the whole point of the movie, but I like to believe that it implies that God did keep his promise, but Noah was blind to that fact because he chose to live upon his own expectations with the dove returning. As a consequence of his unbelief, he basically subjected himself and his descendants into a world where the water never truly receded, simply because they refused to believe that promise. Perhaps God never allowed this version of Noah to see land ever again. In essence, even if they had a chance of finding land, they chose to wait on the idea of the dove itself, not the promise of land.
@rct2213Then possibly the film is more about how we entrench ourselves in our own beliefs of the world. The consequence of that being we hurt others like the boy or we are hurt to the point of no return like the girl.

As someone who was born into a Roman Catholic background I think I had it easier than most. Maybe it was my mother who believed everyone has a choice. Things like how one group of people could be wrong well another group is right? How about all those cultures in the past that believed in something with all their hearts only to be abandoned and forgotten by time. Maybe over time this made me into a bit of a philosopher. Learning what I can from all forms of human consciousness to try and find my answers I spent a better part of my life much like this man. I think we were put here to learn and expand. Take in new ideas and compare them to others. I honestly don’t care what your believes are. Most of it is a story woven to tell mystery and secrets. I only care if your faith is strong enough to be tested. Are you just blindly following whatever you been told? What if someone challenged that foundation? What if someone took away your objection of devotion? Would you still hold on knowing it was a false idol? Definitely have to watch this in full. As someone that rejects the concept of personal salvation as a path towards bad behavior, I interpreted the end scene very differently -- as an expression of blind faith being a childish thing.
I've found that being nice to people and offering a good deed every now and then is enough for people to preserve their faith. Those of us that are missing from the story of Angels Egg.A world without kindness.
I can honestly say, Angel's Egg is a really good movie for to watch and it does blur the lines between faith and religion as well as what to do when your faith had or has been tested and/or broken. I'm not gonna lie, this movie does get to me in that sense for reasons I'll share a bit more of. When i was younger, me and my grandma were devout Jehovah's Witnesses. My uncle was also in our study sessions even though he was just there for my grandmother and me. Now, in the beginning i thought that my grandma was just having visitors at the house; no trouble at all, right? And they were and still are such nice people, until i had peeked in one of their study sessions and one of them noticed me, and asked me politely if i wanted to listen in, i said yes of course and i pulled up a chair and i listened in with my grandma. They were talking about God and how he apparently, has an actual name, and all that and i only knew from what i gleaned in Sunday school, that the normal church we used to go to didn't talk about that, only the "Surface Level" stuff, and we kept on having more study sessions, until they invited me and my grandma to their Kingdom Hall for Sunday service, and it was and is SO different from any church you'd go to for everyone knew each other, everyone was so nice to us on and out of the Hall. So, we kept having Bible study until my grandmother's teacher requested a that i would get a teacher of my own, i obviously agreed and within a week, i was studying with my teacher on Wednesdays while my grandmother's teacher came on Thursdays and things were kinda ok. Until... Life happened, stuff happened and our roundabout way of "Peace" in our home was interrupted by a squatter who was, and I'll just say it as it is; "Off-loaded", on us by one of our cousins who, unfortunately passed away 6 years ago and things were relatively good until, me trying to get to know our guest and she was very nice, yet was also a heavy Christian who did not take kindly on Jehovah's Witnesses coming in and quote "Telling us lies about God". Her words, not mine. This eventually got my grandmother explosively angry, to the point where I've had to stay in her room 24/7 just to calm her down, for if she didn't she'd have a fit! Throwing plates, items from her room or in the kitchen at our guest's door, screaming outside or inside untill she was to the point of hoarseness, getting into fights with our guest and calling the police department just to stir up trouble (Mind you, I've had to deal with this for 4 years until our guest moved out). Months after that, i was going to Job Corps for training, where i also was exposed to the "Outside World" via force and was also heavily conflicted by my teachings and worldview that i just can't deal with humans anymore. I'd say more, but those nuggets of misfortune will have to wait for another time. We were just a small, simple family, trying to get through life with all its curves and throughfares and even if we didn't know much of the "Outside World", it didn't make a difference, especially to me when that was all i had. I'm 27 now and on my own after leaving home for about 8 years, and I could also relate, but sometimes i basically wonder if the decisions I've made or were forced to make were the right ones. But idk, I'm just some guy.
lately I've been trying to find a way to merge metal and weirdcore aesthetics into one, and I think you've delivered the inspiration I need to my doorstep.
The girl represents innocence and The solider guy represents responsibility. The God being a giant metal eye shows how cold and distant we can interpret our maker. Also at the end of story it’s shown they’re on an upside down boat aka The Noah.
Yeah, he kinda failed to mention that. The whole story takes place on a capsized Noah's Ark, which implies cyclical history to a degree. Or that humanity was viped out during a Great Deluge, then some survived on board the Ark, the dove never found the land or the Ark capsized, then rebuilt its society somewhat on top of the Ark. I also like how the whole story of the Ark kinda became a myth in this new society, which by the time when the plot of Angels Egg takes place is long gone. That reminded me of how in Dark Souls, every next Age of Fire carries some semblance of the previous one but only faintly. It's like the whole of the story takes place in a world where humanity lost one battle, and then tried to recuperate, then failed, then forgot about it, then tried again and lastly, failed again. This particular world knows very little hope.
I love revisiting this film. I'm usually at a loss of what is actually going on but it still speaks to me somehow. Can't wait to rewatch it with your analysis in mind!
I've been feeling like the boy a lot lately. I refuse to blindly serve anyone, but as a consequence, i find myself constantly causing others a crisis of faith simply by existing. I can't tell you how many people had breakdowns over my simply asking if they were happy with their lives or if they actually have an independent opinion of their religion. And in the bible belt, that could cause a lot more trouble than its worth. The sad part? I still believe. I still have faith. I've seen that hope and joy and light still burn within almost everyone, and the waves a simple hello can create. But like the boy, i refuse to let it blind me to the world. Regardless of how beautiful it is, there are still people suffering, and if there is something i CAN do, i will. This earns me very few friends, but those who do offer their hand, i see as worth their weight in gold.
I never renounced my faith, I renounced those that taught me faith isn't unique. That a relationship with God is not unique and only the worthy can have it. I renounced them.
Thank you !! I watched the entire thing but never really understood the story. This is clear and logic, and now I understand what is the story about really.
As someone who was SAd, I always felt like the girl was a stand in for the innocence of girlhood. Innocence that was taken and destroyed by a much, much older man who pursues her and then abandons her once he's gotten what he wanted. When society collapses, men will become savages, ravaging the earth and even other humans, women, children, like feral beasts, completely shedding their veil of civility at the first sign of the end times. At least, that's my own interpretation. That's the beauty of media like this, and I'd like to hear other people's interpretation.
He is older than her for sure as is visually clear, but the creatives of the show have described him as "young", and "boy". The tendency in anime to make younger male characters seem older than they are should also be remembered. The crusader also does not have the immediate intention of breaking the egg from the get go, however he does become instantly curious about what is inside. When the girl denies she knows, it seems he actually doesn't necessarily believe her, given he appears to sincerely ask her again after he quotes the Noah and the Ark story. At any time he could have seized the egg from the girl and dashed it open in front of her. It really seems like his own curiosity was a growing compulsion he resisted, until he couldn't bear it and had to know. While sitting in the dark, next to a recently dead fire, with the girl conveniently sleeping, having turned away from the egg leaving it entirely exposed. Whether it way a younger boy....Or a younger girl..... I'm confident the crusader would have as equally entranced and obsessed with what was in that egg. He also appears to have never had any ill intent against her person. He is described as initially setting out to protect the girl according to online wiki plot/cast summaries. She did not ask for that protection, but if we are to assume he's in his 20's, and she's like maybe 10 or whatever... Then realistically, a seemingly abandoned, wandering child on their own is abundantly unsafe, and there is no actual lion hearted young or old man on this planet that would not want to see to it that no harm befell of the youth. I still like your interpretation and see how it could arise for sure, the film's visual language is very unclear. Very dark. Very tense. The man, the young man, the boy, whatever we want to think of him as, is unnervingly cold and distant. He is certainly not a feel good, comfort character. He is pushy. He is inconsiderate. He is not likeable. The type of man you describe in your post for sure exists, in both fiction and the real world. I may not believe that to be the type of man the crusader is, but it is all interpretation and belief at the end of the day.... Very in line with the themes of the film. Your interpretation was cool. Angel's Egg is a work of art to be able to evoke so many different things in so many different people.
Omfg… This video essay resonated with me on such a deep level. The boy’s perspective almost perfectly encapsulates my views on the faith I was raised in (Christianity) my ego is telling me I was meant to find this video because of this, but I realize the anime and the analysis of it were designed to be relatable to a wide enough audience. Still I feel a sense of gratitude that works of art like this were made, because I feel seen as a result, no matter the reason.
the one thing about religion is that we as humans have never managed to find ANY equal to is the fact it gives your life a purpose (and answers) and nothing can be compared to the salvation of having a road to follow, a goal
Litterly just told my Girlfriend about this film yesterday and am going to show it to her soon and Havant thought about it for years. Odd coincidence lol

This is a good video its like when I got harassed and attacked by an atheist and pesterd by a Christian saying I shouldn't be viol- ent or curse and forgive and pray that's when I lost my faith in god and in humanity because none of that shit worked the atheist was still a crappy person who had a end goal to run people off the internet or going into hiding for years like I did or committing someone's one self destruction and sure in the heck I didn't want to believe in evolution or become an atheist because it proved to me 100% that both sides are fundamental and people of them both sides were filled with terrible people I saw atheist and Christians were extremely hateful people basically to me its like hateful people slapped on a label basically after all that I started choosing cartoons to make me happy again over religion or evolution or anything else moving art was like candy to me and still is but when I met my lover online in the villainous community and I find out he was Christian and he loves cartoons and video games and loves holidays and he's sweet as pie and understands my problems basically god dropped the angry scales from my eyes and I realized that not all Christians are bad it's one's that have a head of a snake that are bad the ones that are really extreme so I gain my faith back through my lover he helped I know I'm not supposed to talk about my faith because some people are sensitive and I'm supposed to keep it a secret from others
You are officially the first person I've seen be bold enough to share this take on it 🤣 Good for you. Definitely an interesting and intriguing interpretation I can see merit for.
Oh yeah someone will need a champion in some part of town though cause you know family and daughters and stuff but other than that sexy blessings on you all and I love you Mom.
The smashing the egg isn't his greater purpose. His purpose is to get the girl (the dove) to remember her purpose. She's supposed to birth the new world, but is stuck in a state of childish rejection of purpose. Thats why she appears to age rapidly at the end. AlmightyLoli's analysis was better. The whole "i left my faith and you should do x" is an empty cliche.
This was an excellent analysis of the movie's message. I also think that it's neither anti-faith nor pro-faith, which makes it really thought-provoking. Nevertheless, there are some things that break the allegory for me. The movie does depict this god as cruel, since he didn't keep his promise. Trusting such a god feels hopeless. And the man can see the god, so it's less about him not believing and more about being angry at god. I also appreciate that you shared your own experience with faith at the end. I think it's important to distinguish religion (a system of rules, values, etc.) from faith, which is based on one's personal experience. I can relate to the girl in this story. The worst moment of my life was when I stopped believing that God was good. It took me a long time before I finally asked Him to give me sign if He was real, and He answered. It was through an intense spiritual experience that my faith was revived and even strenghtened. I think this is what the girl experiences at the end.

This movie has captivated me for years, your video and intrupritation of it was beautiful bravo
lately I've been trying to find a way to merge metal and weirdcore aesthetics into one, and I think you've delivered the inspiration I need to my doorstep.
When I first glanced at the title I thought it said “Make sense egg”.
In my head canon, _Angel's Egg_ takes place in the same universe as _Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust_ . Like, in different eras of the world
The girl represents innocence and The solider guy represents responsibility.
One of my favorite anime films, looking forward to seeing your take on it! 🙏🏻
Showing this to everyone who doesn’t have the patience to watch it all the way through 😭
I love revisiting this film.
“Why is the door red” this guy:
Anyways love the video great like always
I never renounced my faith, I renounced those that taught me faith isn't unique. That a relationship with God is not unique and only the worthy can have it. I renounced them.
Same. Started noticing that the "fellow Christians" pushing people to renounce faith were raised Hebrew
Good on you
You are being lied to
This man is either the priestest of priest of just your average anime man
I can see how this movie inspired Hollow Knight
Ok, I wasn't expecting to see something so cool. You got me in the 10 first seconds. I'll watch the movie and then come back
True salvation can only come from within.
Definitely the Dark Souls of anime
Relation with god can be separate to being apart of a Church
“What if God has forgotten about us?”
God really went to get milk
Wild 😂
Incredibly well made video, great explaining skills, keep up the good work♥
I've really been needing to rewatch this, it's crazy
This film is unbelievably beautiful.
Don't wait for god, you'll wait too long.
Your videos are so good i watch a specific anime just to see them
Thank you. I just watched Angel's Egg and your video made me understand and appreciate the film a lot more.
I, on the other hand, knew an atheist so demeaning and derisive, I'd hold onto my faith than give her anything.
Was raised atheist by my parents. Ended up becoming Christian because it doesn't require being part of a Church
Lol holding onto faith not because of the strength of your believe but out of spite is freaking heretical my dude
Thank you for making this just for me so I can stop loosing sleep.
Thank you !!
I watched the entire thing but never really understood the story. This is clear and logic, and now I understand what is the story about really.
Now, _that_ is one massive ship.
We all have crosses to bear and eggs to break ;p
some of these effing comments lmfao who even are you people XDDD
This is beautiful.

Thank you SockSensei ❤️
Amazing video legend sensei 🧦
Appreciate it🫡
the one thing about religion is that we as humans have never managed to find ANY equal to is the fact it gives your life a purpose (and answers) and nothing can be compared to the salvation of having a road to follow, a goal
this movie has always been on my mind since I watched ghost in the shell about a year ago, I need to watch it
bro stays posting bangers
all for you
Litterly just told my Girlfriend about this film yesterday and am going to show it to her soon and Havant thought about it for years. Odd coincidence lol
I heard there was a blu ray release announcement for this gem. Any one know of release date updates for it?
This video seems like the perfect segway to Haibane Renmei ❤. Both series seems to share very similar themes
Planning to cover that very soon
@@socksensei looking forward to it when it comes 😊. Thanks for covering Angel's Egg ❤️. Yr personal experience for the analysis was great too.
You just don't miss Sensei! Great video brother 🙏
Thanks!
Seriously, this reminds me a lot of Blasphemous, i have no doubt that Blasphemous was inspired by this.
I so wish I could watch this again
Music, what is the music used in this video?
Does anyone know what the song name is that starts at 7:06?
Best guess it's either license free music or its from the movie
you've met with a terrible fate, haven't you? yet still posses the ability to hold firm, and instill resolve in others with such potency

As an agnostic, angel Egg reminds me of this verse.
I let the depths have me. There are many eggs. I hope some day to meet you, maybe in Tokyo, have a good conversation from the other side.
next stop :In the Aftermath!
The Masonic imagery is strong with this one! Wow.
The fish look like coelacanths…. Also referred to as a living fossil of an ancient bony fish that was only found in the fossil record until recently rediscovered as still alive (maybe the 70s or early 80s)….

Intriguing ahh thumbnail
Beautiful video 🤌
Seeing this I would love to see a video about orb the Movements of earth when it finishes
Fucking what.
the narrative of the movie was very clearly sexual in nature
You are officially the first person I've seen be bold enough to share this take on it 🤣 Good for you. Definitely an interesting and intriguing interpretation I can see merit for.
Oh yeah someone will need a champion in some part of town though cause you know family and daughters and stuff but other than that sexy blessings on you all and I love you Mom.
Was i the only one who pressed on this video thinking its about evangelion ?
Huh. Cool, i haven't watched it yet, but it looks really cool, and I think its quality because thats how this guy works,

Matthew 5:8
“Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.”
Anyone know a site where i can watch the movie
Make one for Sonny Boy...

It has bits that remind me of houseki no kuni
CANT BELIEVE IM HERE LIVE
love your vids
The smashing the egg isn't his greater purpose. His purpose is to get the girl (the dove) to remember her purpose. She's supposed to birth the new world, but is stuck in a state of childish rejection of purpose.
Thats why she appears to age rapidly at the end.
AlmightyLoli's analysis was better. The whole "i left my faith and you should do x" is an empty cliche.
Bro, your videos are so slept on. I wish you nothing but success 🙂↕️
Merci.
The purpose was to inspire a japanese man to make an incredible dlc for the best game ever made, ds3

Wait, what promise did the god break?
