I totally forgot that they release a keyboard for the gamecube! I wonder if you could use it on the Switch with the Gamecube controller adapter.
Microsoft has micro-keyboards you can plug into the bottom of the controller. They've also had full keyboard support since way back at the launch of the 360 and kept it ever since, just plug in a USB keyboard and start typing. They have support for m/kb controls as well, but the game developers need to actually acknowledge and allow them from their end.

In monster hunter generations ultimate this could be really useful if you can still type messages in the chat. There's short preset messages you can use, but just typing things out can be really helpful since there's no limits.
This thing will be really handy when the new Animal Crossing comes out

That keyboard would make more sense if the joycon made it wireless and powered it. They could also re-purpose one of the joycon to be the mouse/pointer and/or let you use the joysticks to move the cursor on the screen when docked to the keyboard.

Might pick one of these up at some point. Not for Switch games, but it'll be cool to use with my laptop hooked up to my TV where I can't easily access the keyboard. The fact that I can slide in Joy-Cons on the sides makes it even better for this application.
At this point, if Nintendo won't do it, can we just get separate cartridges for Internet Browser and media apps? Similar to how that DS Browser cartridge worked?

Second display for the Switch. You can still dock it, and then attach the joycons to the second display, and use the switch like a Wii U, except not garbage. Just a funky idea
a switch with a second screen would be pretty heavy and would tire your wrists out pretty quickly i think. I had an idea for an improved Dock with an extra GPU and a 3DS cartridge slot, so you could connect you switch to your dock wirelessly and play local multiplayer without needing to split the screen, and also play your DS and 3DS games on it, maybe even increase the resolution. i was told the network card that let them do that on the wiiu was expensive though and is the reason they never dropped much in price.
Chris Richfield I mean that you can dock the switch, but have another separate screen you can hook the joycons to, so you can have the switch on the TV and the extra screen so you can use the keyboard or other touchscreen functions

That reminds me of a similar controller made by Logitech for the PS2, when online gaming was a new big thing for consoles. It was a controller with a keyboard in the middle similar to the Gamecube one.

Using a mini-keyboard for my Switch; worked well enough as a general grip. While wireless, the keyboard is used in dock-mode due to using a bluetooth receiver.

I 3D printed a grip for the joycons that are almost the exact dimensions of the Nintendo switch the only issue is that it’s too wide so the joycons can be popped in and out instead of sliding in them in and out. It’s also themed for the octo-expansion for splatoon 2

I actually think this could be a good idea for using the Nintendo Switch for business applications. Like, for sending e-mails or making spreadsheets at home or on the go.
I love my switch but in some ways I find it a ridiculous piece of tech. I mean it's 2018 and it does not have a Netflix app or a browser. Come on Nintendo my Vita has those like 4 or 5 years ago. And not to mention the fact you can't plus headphones into a pro controller yet it costs double what I can get a PS4 in my country.
In some ways Nintendo innovate but there is no need to reinvent the wheel when it comes to stuff that should be standard. The mere fact I am having to mention it is absurd.
How does Nintendo expect people to use headphones when it's on docked mode.
While I am at it. Make a new set of More useful joycon's. A left one with a D- pad and a right one with the Thumbstick up the top so it mirrors the left one. I should not have to back a kick starter project for gear that puts my hand in a better position and have to carry it around. If you fixed just those three things with the next version or better still gave us an official way to but them you would have a very close to perfect experience.
mackstertube It being 2018 is probably exactly why the switch doesn't have a browser or Netflix. Look at it this way, the switch is portable but it doesn't have 3g or 4g so if you left an area with wifi you couldn't use any of that any way, but you'd probably have your phone which could still use both and probably has a better resolution with a slightly smaller screen anyway, I mean after all Nintendo tells you to use a pc or smart devices for some activities on the switch already.
It could at least get Netflix in the future, but it's not like you'd need it when it's already available on almost every other household device imaginable.
I understand all that but you should stop making excuses or putting up with it. Every time they read comments like yours they do not feel the need to do anything about it.

Any by the way wi-fi has nothing to do with it. I can put 256 gb card in it and you can download and save on it. And also by only saving in the 720 or 1080 p it uses less storage and less battery to play the shows.
You should not have that attitude or they will not care. My PS Vita did not have 3g and could save on my card and that was last generation and over 5 years ago. Not sure why you think on next gen portable this is acceptable.
Also some people may not have all these other devices. They should not be forced to buy anything else when all it takes is an app. Why should someone buy google chrome or anything else for one app when they have a device capable of it but nintendo won't get off there ass and put it on there. Also what is you want to watch it on the switch as your other device ran out of battery or you may be in a Hotel and want to watch it on the TV which you could if it had the app.
So I don't buy into anything you are saying. Its a portable device but you are saying its ok because you may have other devices. That is a piss poor excuse. I am going into hospital in a few months and I want to watch netflix on the bigger screen on my Switch.

Anyways I’m not making excuses for Nintendo, it’s the actual current state of things that most people already have multiple Netflix capable devices on them most of the time, if comments like mine have such a big impact on a company deciding to do something, then comments stating the opposite should have the same effect if it’s in their best interest.
Not to mention Hulu actually is available, so there’s no guarantee you won’t get your Netflix.

And yes we might get them but they are being slow and lazy. Things they said could not be done get done by hackers in 24 hours. They just need to release things on release. It is taking them 1.5 years to get the online working properly. They also knew people would want there old library but no sign of the arcade yet.

I guess it's good if you for some reason like having a massive gap between the joycons like in portable mode, as an alternative to just having that weird game case thing that... people actually use for some reason. If they ever release an animal crossing (it's inevitable.) then the online features could use this, and at the same time, I'd assume if there was a chat system in it they'd probably release a keyboard peripheral and increase the price quite a bit, or just have that weird mobile app thing.
It would be awesome if the keyboard and the joycons had a stand and Splatoon had a chat function. And then you could easily write something while the kill screen appears or while you wait in the lobby.
Switch don't have a keyboard problem like other consoles and the joy con is better than keyboard at gaming and remember you can connect any keyboard to switch with otg 😂

I use a bluetooth keyboard for chatting in Monster Hunter (a logitech K400+) and it works perfectly well. This keyboard could be even more comfortable.

This exact kind configuration is what I've been dreaming of for an MMO like Final Fantasy XIV. This game can be mostly played on a controller very well, but you still need a keyboard for chat. Which means every time you need to chat you need to physically put the controller down, type, then pick up the controller again. It gets maddening. With this thing, you could just put the whole thing on your lap and seemlessly switch (heh) from one to the other.
Yes I know the Switch's probably too damn underpowered to run the game, which is a shame because this format would revolutionize MMO's on console just like the Switch is revolutionizing hybrid consoles.
They also have Phantasy Star Online 2 that you have to be connected online to be able to stream the game.

There is a fantasy star for the switch in japan, so it can be used for that too. Japan still has all the MMOs that we can't use.
It would be great for a game like skyrim where you have the favorites system. Most things play the same but you can set up hotkeys, basically, just like you can on console. So you can quickly just tap the button to equip something.

An alternative that I bought was another Switch keyboard by the seller FYOUNG on Amazon. It's smaller than the one you have and from what I can see, only lacks the arrow keys. One benefit the one I have is that the cable it uses it detachable. Looks like the one you have on the video is hardwired in. I'd like to see a bit more info on the keyboard you showed though. How are the key presses? The FYOUNG brand one, the keys seem to be made of rubber. It's keys are small, but click (quietly), when pressed. The keys are also all in English, if that's important to the buyer.

should have used the usb type c that we can just plug in keyboard and mouse. instead, it's just for charging. or you need an adapter. I tried plugging my razer headphone with type c connection and i can't use it. whatever, happened to universal connection between all devices?

In Japan many people usually play sitting near the TV and console. That's most likely why the cable is so short.

I need a keyboard for my switch...cause I dropped it twice or three times and now it's acting weird. When I use the keyboard in it with the joycon it would keep going down and it makes it hard for me to spell stuff. I tried resetting it and fixing it but it didn't work.
