Recycled batteries and components really make a massive impact on the total price of a conversion, my 25HP electric moto conversion cost shy 2000 pounds and would be around 4600 with all new cells
Hey great to see you back with a review. You should buy a special paint marker that you paint over the bolt end and nut to show you have torqued it to spec (red paint) or use a blue one to mark bolts you have tightened to 'enough' but you can then see if the nut is backing off as the paint line will clearly show where it has turned. Its good practice for mechanics and builders etc. Also I really am looking forward to you doing the final sorting of the car and passing it on to your mother in law because that will give you plenty of room for a new build for us to watch and learn from. You know you wan to! Take care.
Wow! Thats good, I am now seriously thinking I should convert my Avantime, at 30mpg I don't drive it much anyway with sky high fuel prices (and its not supposed to use E10, plus my other car does 45mpg on LPG, so is about the same as an EV in fuel). I am going to have to get on and watch more of your back catalogue! What kind of range are you getting? and how easy would it be to add battery modules (assuming you had the space)? One last question - I have heard DVLA are reluctant to reclassify converted cars to EV for tax purposes, what was your experience? At £325 a year, it would mean the conversion would pay for itself much quicker.
Thanks for the update Dave. Looking forward to more videos.
Cheers, Sev
Thanks for the support Sev
@@SouthWestEVUK I hope if the mother-in-law buys it, that you'll be building a new electric conversion :)

Totally, if you have the time to take things apart.
Great work, really enjoy the content and still jealous of the workshop!
hahaha, im sometimes jealous of my own workshop ha!
Well done Dave. Super impressed with the end result. The leaf seems to be a more practical donor (& more affordable) than say a Tesla.
yeah definitely!
Really interesting to hear about your costs Dave, I'm keeping records too so it'll be interesting to compare afterwards
Yeah keep a tally - its funny reading back, what on earth did I need THAT for lol

Yeah good shout re the paint - and yeah, i do feel like building a EV kit car...
Great work, !
Thanks ;o)
@@SouthWestEVUK There is a currently a leaf160kw inverter on ebay
Awesome stuff. Have been following your work from day one! How many amps can you pull from the battery?
Gosh, not really sure - the fuse is 350amp I think, so quite a lot...
Wow that is amazing, I don't think you can find RX8 for 450 these days
Should be able to. Ones that need engine rebuilds. Quite common.
@@deancc8883 people are asking 2k+ for them blown up now... It's getting ridiculous
@@jryoung5460 yes this is true
Oh my! That makes me happy I bought a shit old fucked RX8 then to do it up 😁👍
Yeah looking around they are a lot more rare these days...
Hello, are you using all the leaf battery's ? and what voltage is it ?
Yes, all of them - about 405v full charged
I forgot to ask you in the video of adding the motor, do you have a cad or drawing of the adapter plate?
Sorry, I took the motor and gearbox to a local workshop and they mated the two.
Good luck on the service. Wonder what you'll find.
Not a lot so far! just some loose bolts, unbelievable really

Take a look at all the old videos - everything should be explained!
Great to hear it's going so well Dave. The new inverter sounds like a good plan, is the CAN coding different though?
Apparently not - not my work but Dala's, should just need to increase the torque request and thats it
❤👍
