Exactly. Everyone who watched this video will never forget his face and the way he teaches. I saw this video more than 10 years back still I remember his videos
I have been working on movement disorders research for two years, and I would say this is one of the best videos I've seen on this training! Thanks for disseminating this masterpiece!
Brilliant, i wish we had more pedagogic instructors like this these days...we have many doctors but only a few pedagogues which have the ability to transfer their knowledge to fellow young doctors in a such a way to make the information comprehensible. Well done!
Thank you for this video. It is a very helpful review of basics for me. I have been in practice for 30- years and it is the type of review that has clinical value to me. I appreciate this public service for me and my patients.
From an old retired doc, your first impression as you watch patients is a very useful tool to have. My wife and I still play a game when we walk down the street called "Make the diagnosis".
This is one of the best educational videos I've ever seen! Today I saw a man with a weird gait and I just wondered which condition he might have. Thanks to your video I could easily identify it was cerebral palsy gait. Thanks a lot for such a great video.
Excellent demonstration. As a diabetes doctor and TH-cam educator, gait examination is an important part of the general examination. Also important to examine them as they walk with the physios as you can miss a golden diagnosis of Parkinsonism.
Thank you doctor, very useful for general physicians. Such observations done and recorded by us in referral notes is appreciated by neurologists, saves their time. thanks
Thanks for this most informative video. It is helping me understand that the way my husband walks is not normal. My husband was told at the VA that he has myelopathy and spondylosis at the T9-T10 region. He has bladder/bowel issues, no control of his right foot, right leg is weak, he falls frequently and does that stomping walk (shown in the video) at night when he gets out of bed for something. He was told at the VA they could not do anything for him but we're seeking a second opinion outside the VA Health System. Not to knock the VA Health System in any way because they have been very good to my husband.
This is the best video on TH-cam that explains gait abnormalities in such an easy way to understand. Wow 🤩 this is so cool ! I appreciate this so much.
thank you very much doctor for your wonderful videos ... i'm getting ready for my finals in less than 3 months and visual aids like these videos make studying effortless
Thanks so much for this video- I'm about to go into OSCEs and this is a great consolidation, with some added explanations that makes it easier to understand the basis of the gaits!
A sense of sadness settled within me for the people with these problems and wish they all have theraphy to overcome ...so nicely explained ,for a person of my kind, being a mechanical engineer...was browsing on bio mechanics and came over here ...Doctors are cool in handling their wards ...God bless you all...
As a non-medical student, but from EHS field..... This was awesome, easily understandable, very helpful and interesting!!!! I added this to my channel for others to find and learn.
Thank you! I am grateful for this explanation, please keep sharing knowledge for those who seek it. we students will always be here, waiting and eager to learn more. Thank you again.
I just don't understand how people doesn't encourage such videos... in 6 years it should have atleast viewed lika a million Doctors world wide 🤨.... but truely loved ut🥰
Well that was very informative and it was pretty much accurate and understanding than my current knowledge on gait , The professor did a great job making this video , Thank you so much .
Dr Verghese, thank you very much for the video. You really do have a talent for explaining things. I only wish I saw it in 2003 when we were first introduced to gait abnormalities at the university :)
This has been extremely helpful! There's so much right in front of our eyes which goes unseen. Thank you so much Sir, for this beautiful explanation and demonstration. 💜
Correction: Trendelenburg gait demonstrates weakness of the gluteus medius on the side opposite of the advancing lower extremity. Hence, the pelvis cannot be maintained in a level position during SLS. The patient leans toward the affected side to compensate for the glute med weakness.
@Undead Burg he aint an actor.... might have realised all of a sudden he was acting and lost concentration..... wonderful video! Chris, thankyou. Thanks a lot!!
Forgot the "dragging foot" gait, saw that one from one of my teachers who had Polio. You slide your weak foot on the floor and you advance with the other one, or even drag the entire leg as its not moving at all. From a quick search it seems to be encompassed in Spastic gait.
I had a stroke in 2013, and after some friends saw this video, I'm told that I do a bit of the steppage gait and the hemipelegic. Now I know what it looks like, and I understand what people are talking about. Thank you so much for this demonstration! :) Though, I *can* stand with both heels together, eyes closed, and nary a wobble nor tremmor after counting to 45. At least I know I don't have the sensory gait condition. That's a relief, I'll have to mention it to my neurologist next I see him, and get his opinion. -thx! :)
My grandfather had Parkinson’s develop over 11 years. The gait described is spot on but was only noted the 1/2-3/4 of that time. Last couple years there was no walking.

absolutely makes me appreciate being able to just walk, even if i don't have the best balance in the world.

Nicely explained and demonstrated about the cerebellar ataxia gait. We take walking for granted until we lose our ability to walk normally.

Chris Kirby Thanks for the comment. That is indeed correct. Drop of hip opposite to weakness, lean towards affected side to balance.
Thanks for this comment! I'd just made a notecard based on this video. For once I'm glad I read the comments!
@Undead Burg, because he's human.

What correction are u talking about? He did mention everything about Trendelenburg correctly..
Can you specify what wrong he told?
The video at 0:15 second says GATES which should be GAITS.
PLEASE CORRECT IT.
