Yes I've got arthritis in my hands and I'm trying to learn guitar in my mid-60s. I often feel sorry for myself because my fingers are stiff and sore and here she is. Clearly gifted and playing for a long time but our bodies betray us and usually I would think most people struggle a little bit because aging makes everything our body does harder. But you wouldn't know what listening to her. Like others I feel comforted about getting older. Getting older is totally unfair and it's hell but it's the universal disease and things like this take my mind off of that frequent daily angst. She is still herself and she looks pretty damn good too. Thank you for posting this video I wish we were Neighbors.
You are wonderful. I'm 74 and have just discovered I have a gift as an artist and now I can't stop and have been painting every day for six months. I'm colour blind but it doesn't matter.
I am so sorry for your loss. The pain is so raw when the bond is so strong. Making space to grieve, in your own way, honours your bond. Bringing her joy to life via your being, may bring comfort, when you're ready. Being self compassionately is vital.
I’m sorry you know this pain, my sis passed in 2015, I was struggling so much I said to my husband that I needed a few days to myself, he understood and off I went for a week in a camping ground ( a safe one) off the grid, I hiked in the morning with a dog that would not leave me alone in the mountains, I believe he was taking care of me, I just talked to GOD, I just needed to grieve, when I was home I was trying to hard to stay strong for everyone until I just couldn’t, after I allowed God to heal me, I remember my sister every day but without pain, I’m just so grateful for the memories and because she’s not here, it doesn’t mean that she doesn’t exist, I pray you’ll find peace too. 🤗
I am an 84 year old man... still working full time. I forgotten i used to play guitar. Now you made me pick it up again! Thank you. You are God gift to all of us❤

His 18 yr old son and an 82 year old farmer who says "I just want to work." Kudos to you and to all those who just keep going. Best advice medical I ever got? Keep moving. Cheers!

I'm 72 years old now and after my husband passed away in 2017, 17 yrs we had together, I ended up selling everything and I bought a house on the island of Cozumel Mexico and have lived here for a year and a half. I left what was home at age 55 and went 3000 miles west. I left California when I was 72. I found home in the rolling hills of Virginia. Turns out I had ancestors from the same town. I love your music. I'm an artist so traveling was important to me. I have learned to live my dreams with very little money. You just have to be brave.
I'm 23 and have been out of a job for 4 months, struggling to find security in friends, a job, life-- It's an everflowing state of transition. But on my journey to find inner peace and happiness, I tripped over this song along the way. I want to thank you for giving me the strength to find patience with myself and life through your beautiful melody.
Please have patience and loving kindness for yourself. I'm 58 and remember my twenties as being a time of feeling so much pressure to know who I was. Trust me, you can drop the pressure to be a certain way; there are more ways of being than we can comprehend. ❤
I'm hitting a major age milestone this year. Within the past 10 years, I have separated myself from a toxic narcissistic family and escaped a violent marriage. And "at my age" I was afraid that I got old without noticing and that my life was over without ever having actually begun. I have been so blessed to realize that that simply isn't the case. I have moved across the country, found work in one of the most beautiful places on earth, built a home, and have traveled to several continents. I'm in the process of reinventing myself yet again, but this time, not out of fear or desperation, but out of joy and a sense of adventure. Eat right, exercise, use your brain and your talents daily. Then getting old will take longer and won't be nearly as terrifying.
That’s really a good thing you did. The real truth is, WE DO NOT HAVE TO BE PERFECT. I got that at 50 years old. I’ve been so free for 10 years. I’m not looking back. I know have a messy house. Mom in heaven, it’s ok. 😂😂❤❤
I’m a 53 yr old singer/guitarist/ songwriter… It’s 2 months since this was posted, and I just happened upon it and clicked: sometimes the most beautiful songs never find their way to be heard). How lucky am I? Thanks for reminding me that I’m more than a series of “once-was’s.” We all were, are, and are yet to be.
Hi from New Zealand. This year I turned 70, decided it was time to reinvent myself . I then came across this video, a coincidence , I think not. I love this song, and I play it over and over My husband has dementia so part of me is free, part of me is in chains Just love your music, your musical aptitude Sending you much love ❤❤ J
I don't know if you have heard of this, but recently many scientists studying dementia have discovered that music often helps alleviate the dementia fog in people. If you play music that they listened to and loved when they were younger, they become lucid and can communicate a lot better than before. Hope this helps.
You make a heavenly sound between your beautiful Epiphone 12-string and your sweet soulful wonderful voice. I'm 75 years old and still playing guitar and loving music. You're an inspiration darling ❤️🧠🥰👍🙏🇺🇸 !!!
I'm 70 years old and love the life I live now. Sure, my life line is getting shorter. But that doesn't mean I have to stop being happy, joyful and free. Life is beautiful and wish young people would understand life is precious. Drugs and alcohol will give you a much shorter life. Live free and love who you are, God doesn't make junk.
I reinvented myself at 50. I took a spiritual awakening trip to find out what really makes me happy. It turns out, as a child I loved to sing and write songs. I do that now, but am still unknown by most 5 years later. Just a small group on open mic friends and some musicians. Sometimes I want to quit. But I keep going because it feels like it runs in my veins.
I'm 67....my name is Melinda too. With life and all the heartache, guess there's still hope. Maybe I'll go get a guitar again and start playing after 40 years. Your are inspiring. Thank you!
I’m 61 and recently started my third career, as a musician! I’m in a big band and do regular solo gigs, age is painful but enlightening as hell, go for it!
I'm 85 year old man who played bluegrass some 30 years ago but gave it up. I have now started to learn again, you are an inspiration, that was fantastic. Thank you.
Amen. We are only here for a short moment in time, so live life to it's fullest, never hesitate to share love and always save time for your passions... thanks for another beautiful song .God bless
I am 56 years old, also in Utah. I asked for and received a guitar for Christmas, and i have my fourth lesson tomorrow. My son took his own life 5 years ago at age 31. He was an amazing guitarist and i feel closer to him when i hear guitar, so i decided to learn. Thank you for sharing your beautiful music and words of love and wisdom. Your gifts are many, and you are obviously inspiring others as you have inspired me. How extraordinary to put yourself out there and bring such light and beauty to the world. Thank you, and God bless you ❤
Ahh, I 'm so sorry to read about the loss of your son. Maybe your son will help you learn the guitar and then maybe you can write songs together with him channelling either the music or the lyrics to you or both.😊🎸
TrueFire is a great source for lessons online and it will be cheaper $99 for the year...when on sale (often.) What are you learning now? Are the lessons coming along?
@UTAH100 thanks for the info, I will look into it! I actually searched far and wide for the instructor we had for both our boys. Finally found him, he had moved! He was/is incredible and I was amazed how much my boys learned in such a short time! I also like spending time with people who've been a part of my son's life...makes me feel closer to him. I've got an up and coming grandson who would like lessons, so yes, cheaper may be a good thing!
My favorite lines from this beautiful song: And there some things that you've got to see, And there some places you've got to go... When I here these chords, full of light, and these lyrics, I feel that every single day of our short life can be filled with something charming - if you decide to notice it, look closer to every simple thing,.. I hear this song and I want to live. Warmest regardsfrom 20 year old man, Russia.
Your laughter in the beginning is so sweet ❤ your playing, your gentle voice, the heartfelt lyrics... Your way of being. Im autistic just like you, and your singing brings me so much comfort. It helps me find peace when the world around me is so loud and cold... Thank you so much ❤
Talk about reinvention... yes, after losing the love of my life and still mourning, I am in the process of doing just that at age 75! I moved to another state, joined two choirs, resumed my guitar lessons. Thank you, Melinda, you touched my heart! God bless you richly!
@@susanmcgill7048 You are ready to move beyond it, but recognize Grief might ambush you in unguarded moments. It means you are healing. Don't countenance people who might tell you how long you are 'allowed' to grieve. I SO wish you strength when you need it! XO
I lost my honeycomb 3 yrs ago and, still grieving bc I miss him all the time. But, I can handle this loss much better now... time works wonders. 🙏 Re-invent? The only constant in life is change. So, I'm always re-inventing! 😂 God bless you dear. 🙏🙏🙏
Outstanding lady guitar player. I am 73 playing guitar since I was 14 and watching you has inspired me to move in the direction of happiness, and continue playing my guitar. Thank you, Melinda.
I’m so glad the lovely Jonna Jinton found you for me. It’s so important for the world now to have ambassadors like you spreading your unconditional love and light out to everyone. I love ya too Melinda and bless you x
Jonna Jinton fan here! Guess that’s why this video showed up in my feed. I took up guitar again just recently at 67 and it’s so nice to see other women-and men share their skills and beauty with the world, not just the whipper-snappers…🙌🙌🙌🏄♀️🌸🏝😉😆
Life is short everyone - and tomorrow is promised to no one, so live for today. What a wonderful blessing that you showed up in my YT feed this morning. In the process of reinventing myself in my early 70s. Getting ready to sell my home of 23 years, buying a smaller rv, taking my sweet dog and hitting the road to see this huge, wonderful country of ours while I can still fish, hike, swim, and get around on my own. Thank you Melinda - Someone knew I needed this.
I am 71. I was born free gifted by God. I struggle that’s part of it. God keeps His promise. Good thoughts and music. Bless you All Blessed to be here. 👏🏻✝️♥️🕊️
Going home to the mountains in 2 months. This struck a chord in my soul. I reinvented my life and left home at 19. This song brought me to that moment when I boarded the train with a one way ticket East.
Beautiful. I like songs with a meaningful message. Since retirement, my husband and I moved back near our hometown. We downsized to a century-old cottage, and I'm very much a part of a music community. I play a tenor ukulele, and sing mostly folk and country songs. My musician friends and I play in the community, at street fairs, rest homes, and weddings...and it's a wonderful surprise and "reinvention."
Beautiful view, beautiful guitar, beautiful jacket, beautiful smile, beautiful jewelry, beautiful voice, beautiful words, and a beautiful song. I’m 19 and feel as though I just fell in love for the first time again, love makes no sense! Thank you for having such a wonderful soul!
I'm 59 and I didn't say most of my life. I just have one of those bodies. I am looking to reinvent my life now. Thank you for your beautiful song, and for sharing your beautiful spirit and these encouraging words of insight. It's just what I needed today!
Listening, learning and thinking about "how to re-create this troubled life I'm living now... Surrounded by self-centered, irresponsible people who depend on me, and fighting against unfavorable circumstances that have made my life difficult for a few years... I ask God for the strength to start over again. Thank you very much for posting this video with this beautiful song..! Watching from São Paulo, Brazil..!🙏
Hello beautiful Melinda... I love this song of yours, as I love your other songs. And I always look forward to your words of love and wisdom in your musical videos. I discovered your TH-cam videos very recently, like about a month ago, and I'm so happy I found you. There are no earthly words to describe how much you have brought to my life since I found you online. I thank God for that. When I was 22 (I'm 67 now), my beloved brother tragically took his life due to chronic depression. He was only 26. I was the one who found him after he shot himself, and I've never been the same since. My brother was a warm, funny, brilliant person. He was a self-taught phenomenal guitarist, songwriter and singer. He loved nature and hiking and backpacking in the mountains. I see and feel him in a lot of your songs. I love you, Melinda. You are a beloved gift from God to all who have discovered you, online or otherwise. Much Love, Audrey from Southern California ❤
Oh Audrey 😍thank you for sharing your story🙏 it will help so many...like it has me💘 Sending Great Gratitude & Appreciation, Big Blessings & LOVE, Many Mercies & Compassion and All the Luck & Joy🍀✌🏽❤🙏🇨🇦May All be Free from Suffering
Seems the songs and messages are a healing balm for you. Hope you shine bright and rise above the trauma. Live you best life, in memory of your brother.

Thank you for sharing this. My dad died when I was 17. As a young woman, I’ve often missed listening with him to his favorite 70s songs, which this reminds me so much of. This song breaks and heals my heart simultaneously in its simple truths. He would have loved this. Tysm for sharing ❤️

Oh- you did a great job of lighting the fire and flame in all of us - beautiful story of re-birth that goes on in all of us! We are meeting ourselves every day - a new reaction of love to the person that just yesterday we were irritated with - no, not the neighbor- yourself! In oneness and the reinvention of ourselves that so many are craving - we are the project of love and oneness. Aging just means we merge closer to the object and objective of love. It is us, loving ourselves. Then, like Jesus said: love your neighbor as YOURSELF. Now they are the same. There never was “another” - it was you…. In a mirror❤️

There’s a part of you that’s free
There’s a part of you in change
While you’re here on your way back home, life is your own
Oh there are some things that you’ve got to see
And there are some places you’ve got to go
KEEP GOING
While you’re here, on your way back home
Choices are your own
The only hero you will find is a common man
Or the one living in your mind
And after all of this is said and done
It’s you you’re trying to find
The only clue is love
The only tool is learning that
While you’re here, on your way back home
Really not alone
The only hero you will find is a common man
Or the one living in your mind
And after all of this is said and done
Well it’s you you’re trying to find..
Huh, the only clue is love
The only tool is learning that
While you’re here, on your way back home, really not alone
While you’re here, on your way back home, not alone

I'm 23 and have been out of a job for 4 months, struggling to find security in friends, a job, life-- It's an everflowing state of transition. But on my journey to find inner peace and happiness, I tripped over this song along the way. I want to thank you for giving me the strength to find patience with myself and life through your beautiful melody.
My love to your strength and courage to perservere...it helps others to keep going too...🎶💜
Please have patience and loving kindness for yourself. I'm 58 and remember my twenties as being a time of feeling so much pressure to know who I was. Trust me, you can drop the pressure to be a certain way; there are more ways of being than we can comprehend. ❤
Be the storm.🧃
Drop all the fear and road blocks of negativity. Live with an open heart, joy and love and paths will open. Follow your passion…❤️
Youth does have its struggles Bernadette. You'll make it! Just keep sucking until you do succeed like all us older folks have!
Thank you so much for posting! I'm 67 and I decided to start playing the guitar about 6 months ago. You are a real inspiration for me.
Me too, I’m inspired, I’ve started playing the piano more often and singing songs I ❤️ love
Me too. I have a 6 and 12 string now, i wanna learn. Good luck. Keep with it.
I’m a 53 yr old singer/guitarist/ songwriter…
It’s 2 months since this was posted, and I just happened upon it and clicked: sometimes the most beautiful songs never find their way to be heard).
How lucky am I? Thanks for reminding me that I’m more than a series of “once-was’s.” We all were, are, and are yet to be.
77 and this woke me up....there's still so much living left to live! Great musician 👌
Hey Carol
Just turned 60 and needed to hear this message and see this beautiful lady play guitar. Carpe Diem!
SUBBED!!
Agree ❤
I came for the guitar and stayed for the love. ❤
what a beautiful way to express your appreciation.
🥲🤍
Hi from New Zealand.
This year I turned 70, decided it was time to reinvent myself .
I then came across this video, a coincidence , I think not.
I love this song, and I play it over and over
My husband has dementia so part of me is free, part of me is in chains
Just love your music, your musical aptitude
Sending you much love ❤❤
J
kia ora sis - kia kaha - dementia is rough, tough, brutal
my dad was diagnosed when I was 19 (in 1990) - & passed in 1998.
arohanui, J
Bless you, I wish you comfort and peace. ~Abbie ❤🇺🇸
Kia ora Julia. Thx for your reply. Its a case of taking one day at a time We are doing ok ❤
Thankyou ❤
I don't know if you have heard of this, but recently many scientists studying dementia have discovered that music often helps alleviate the dementia fog in people. If you play music that they listened to and loved when they were younger, they become lucid and can communicate a lot better than before. Hope this helps.
Love you, Grandma 👵 ❤️ 💗 💕 💙 💓 👵
You make a heavenly sound between your beautiful Epiphone 12-string and your sweet soulful wonderful voice. I'm 75 years old and still playing guitar and loving music. You're an inspiration darling ❤️🧠🥰👍🙏🇺🇸 !!!
WoW! A Beautiful Woman singing a beautiful song with a beautiful backdrop.❤❤❤
And, a beautiful voice.❤
ОЧЕНЬ КРАСИВАЯ!
🤗💚👏🌻❣️
Beautiful song, beautiful music, and a beautiful lady. Beautiful voice.
I am from Rome, Italy. Thank you for inspiration e happiness you send to me with your songs
Every your word like a precious seed, drops to the soil of the soul. I'm crying, but tears are healing. Hugs and love from Ukraine.

You are a beautifull woman and inspiring

Beautiful lady
Love you too ❤️ thanks you, I really appreciate it!!!!
Thank you. We love you too. God bless!❤
Oh Wow ! I’ve never been so inspired by both her music and her easy chat. I’m almost 70 year old woman and I’m off now for a little reinvention 🙏💕
Never quit...if I'm ever your way..look me up and I'll see what I can do.💜🎶
I'm 67....my name is Melinda too. With life and all the heartache, guess there's still hope. Maybe I'll go get a guitar again and start playing after 40 years. Your are inspiring. Thank you!
Melinda, I'm 85 and after not playing for 30+ years I'm taking it up again, we can do this.
แสดงให้เต็มที่เลยครับ
please do it !
Most definitely....go for it........why not........
Thank you.
Yes! Music is eternal!👏👏👏
블루그래스를 하실 실력이면 아주 잘하시것네요

Good on ya, brother.

I'm an eighteen year old Brazilian and you made me cry on a Wednesday afternoon!!! thank u !!
Love is a mighty gift from only one God. Bless you and your music. Great program
@nickiehartmusic my hopes and expectations exactly! ❤️❤️❤️ already feeling his help 💕
God bless you. from japan.
You are a gift from God.
You speak with the wisdom of the ages and you make that 12
string sing. Thank you.
With arthritis no less. 12 strings aren't easy to play.
My favorite lines from this beautiful song:
And there some things that you've got to see,
And there some places you've got to go...
When I here these chords, full of light, and these lyrics, I feel that every single day of our short life can be filled with something charming - if you decide to notice it, look closer to every simple thing,.. I hear this song and I want to live.
Warmest regardsfrom 20 year old man, Russia.
From a Polish heart thank You to You Dear Faraway Friend
Super! I'm 68. I'm from Russia. Peace and goodness to everyone.

Your laughter in the beginning is so sweet ❤ your playing, your gentle voice, the heartfelt lyrics... Your way of being.
Im autistic just like you, and your singing brings me so much comfort. It helps me find peace when the world around me is so loud and cold...

Thank you, bright shining star for your gift of song and Elder wisdom 🙏🏼♥️ love you too 🥰
Talk about reinvention... yes, after losing the love of my life and still mourning, I am in the process of doing just that at age 75! I moved to another state, joined two choirs, resumed my guitar lessons. Thank you, Melinda, you touched my heart! God bless you richly!
Exactly; I've had to reinvent myself a couple times after abrupt losses, change of fortunes... Glad you are sticking with your music!
You're doin great, young lady! 👏 I know 60 year Olds who've tapped out.
I lost my love 3 months ago 💔 I'm just running on faith. I'm going to be happy in my new direction s
Re-invent? The only constant in life is change. So, I'm always re-inventing! 😂
God bless you dear.
🙏🙏🙏
God sent you to my heart this morning god is love i really needed to hear this song. Old country boy here from VA ❤
👋
❤
Outstanding lady guitar player. I am 73 playing guitar since I was 14 and watching you has inspired me to move in the direction of happiness, and continue playing my guitar. Thank you, Melinda.
It's hard to feel like singing when you get to a certain age, but this lady makes me realise it's worth the effort.
I am almost 74 years old and I will start learning to play piano. Thank you! I love too.

I’m so glad the lovely Jonna Jinton found you for me. It’s so important for the world now to have ambassadors like you spreading your unconditional love and light out to everyone. I love ya too Melinda and bless you x
You Helped me Find This Channel So Bless You Beautiful 🌞 Sun ❤
What a treasure,God , please bless this phenomenal woman with long life and good health.
I am 71. I was born free gifted by God. I struggle that’s part of it. God keeps His promise. Good thoughts and music. Bless you All Blessed to be here. 👏🏻✝️♥️🕊️
“I never know where I am, I just find myself there and this guitar.”
I felt many meanings in this sentence alone. Thank you Melinda ❤
💥🙏🎉🎊🌻
Beautiful view, beautiful guitar, beautiful jacket, beautiful smile, beautiful jewelry, beautiful voice, beautiful words, and a beautiful song. I’m 19 and feel as though I just fell in love for the first time again, love makes no sense! Thank you for having such a wonderful soul!
I'm 59 and I didn't say most of my life. I just have one of those bodies. I am looking to reinvent my life now. Thank you for your beautiful song, and for sharing your beautiful spirit and these encouraging words of insight. It's just what I needed today!
Она поет...., а у меня в памяти юность, хиппи, рванные джинсы и кеды... Да, и это тоже Россия, детка... Тогда мы любили вас....
Tamo junto, Irmão! Força na caminhada
Same here. Praying for you!
✌🏻❤️🙏🏻
I walked away and all the people who ‘needed me’ found someone else. Now I am FREE. You can be too.
✌️👌🛐🕊️🙏❤️Mikael from Sweden just now..❤😊
Hello beautiful Melinda...
Audrey - 'I love you' for the beautiful person you are. 💗
Oh Audrey 😍thank you for sharing your story🙏 it will help so many...like it has me💘
Sending Great Gratitude & Appreciation, Big Blessings & LOVE, Many Mercies & Compassion and All the Luck & Joy🍀✌🏽❤🙏🇨🇦May All be Free from Suffering
Melinda is a Light worker! I hope she realizes that truth...
❤
Seems the songs and messages are a healing balm for you. Hope you shine bright and rise above the trauma. Live you best life, in memory of your brother.
Boundless Luv Never-ending for every Soul in this Grand Cosmic Dance of Living Light my Wish is every Soul encounter these Whispers in the Wind Ur the Greatest 💎💙⚡🛸🌱🧬💯💪Namaste

Thank you for another beautiful moving song. You are a sweet lady. Bless you
After all is said and done that is a mighty fine song. Singer is one of the beautiful people.
I'm 25 from germany, currently finding my way back home after some turbulent times. This song feels like a warm embrace. ❤
Oh Melinda 🤗it is such a WONDERFUL thing that YOUR LOVE is reaching THOUSANDS of More Hearts 💕HEALING & HELPING US ALL🌱💚
THANK YOU for sharing & making the WORLD a Better Place 💯
🙏may all the BLESSINGS come back to you 💘
I'm paraphrasing, but, "your only clue is love and your only tool is learning that you're not alone." I really like that message, thanks
Yes I hope so go back home ❤🎉 thank you singing.😻🌸
This is why I'm proud to be 69 this year...this lady is simply adorable! I love this song and she's doing it so well❤
Beautiful sweet song 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸💃💃
❤️❤️❤️” while you’re here …on your way back home …you’re really not alone !” ❤️❤️❤️ love it kindred spirit! Thank you Melinda for your song about reinvention… it may be difficult but not impossible 🌻
Nearly 62 years and I'm finally finding my way to myself. Thank you. Made me weep sweet tears. Listening on repeat. I love you too.
