I'm a musician as well, been playing since I was 9, so soon to be 30 years, started on piano, but then moved to clarinet, then saxophone. Played Alto, tenor & Bari for years, but the past 10 I've been on soprano. Music has been around since the beginning of life, but I've always believed & said that music - in its own way - is a language that transcends time, culture, language, etc, and from a cultural standpoint, music is kind of a lingua franca - doesn't matter where you come from, what language you speak, or what your experiences are, music can make everyone feel the same types of emotions. Adding more to my "music is like a language" idea, if you think of it, like language, music can be written down, it follows very strict rules, yet, like language it can also break those rules & still make sense. It makes a sound and can be heard, and it too conveys ideas, and even messages. In the animal kingdom, with birds especially, there's no question that music is a form of language/communication. People underestimate the influence music has on our every day lives. Take the music out of any movie, and you'll barely feel any emotion throughout. The dialog is important, of course, but it's actually the MUSIC that causes the viewer to become invested, it's the music that makes us "feel" everything, whether a given scene be happy, sad, eerie, suspenseful, grandiose, evil, serene etc. and without music, we'd barely feel anything when watching something (comparatively speaking, that is)

I am an Americanized/Westernized Native American- 86% from some tribe just south of the border, and the rest _mostly_ Lakota, according to Ancestrycom. My two birth parents are from the Americas. At 53 years old, I have mostly forgotten about my ancestors or *any* of their ways. The last Pow Wow I went to was in 1995 or 96 in Ethete Wyoming, and I didn't even dance. Having this flute video pop up out of nowhere WHILE I was coincidently thinking of my ancestry really make me think how much power Google/TH-cam holds.

See this is why I love traditional and/or unique instruments played by a passionate musician there’s always such a unique and soul resonating sound to be heard~!
This reminds me of my hometown in Monrovia, Ca. Los Angeles county. We used to have a Street Fair in Main Street every Friday night, and a band called Los Incas played like this. They also had drums. I remember this sound. That was almost 30 years ago. Unforgettable.
A musicologist once explained to me how many musical disciplines are designed for the environments they're made in - culturally sure, but also the physical location. Green Day rocks out with distorted power cords for sold-out stadiums, Bach's chamber music compliments the royal palaces and dance halls, and central Africans and Sioux peoples developed drum focused music that carry sound through their wide-empty grasslands. Here, you can really hear how this temple flute is intended to compliment the echoey acoustics of the Isthmus's mountainous forests and stone temples. It gives it a powerful, serene quality, with the echoes of the world around it being a part of the song itself. Really beautiful stuff.
Freezing chills went down my whole body, making me shake for a second uncontrollably. For a moment everything made sense, there was a strong sense of purpose, surrounded by a family of people I've never met and never will. Words cannot explain how beautiful and primal this vibrations are, thank you for sharing kind man.
The Universal Language of our Species. Music is so beautiful, it's something we can all understand, it's how the world around us works. It's beautiful.
It's really not though. That's a nice sentiment, but the reality is there are so many dramatically different musical systems that don't exactly jive with one another. There are countless different musical cultures that sound extremely off-putting to those outside of the culture, while simultaneously being extremely reverent to other people. The most beautiful sounding music to one group of people can be abhorrent to another group. We cannot all understand it the same way, to imply otherwise, that all music is going to fit within your framework/cultural understanding is not appropriate imo.
@@BigDaddyWes I don't listen to the music for how it sounds, I listen to the music for how it makes me feel. The Vibrations of music I feel are a Universal Language. Color, Language, and Sexual Boundaries may prevent us from becoming one, but when someone plays something beautiful, our species notice and we all flock it it like fireflies in the sky.
How do you create that seamless gap in the highest note at 0:55? I keep tripping this on my own Mayan temple flute and I’m not having much luck. Is it breath control or finger hole movement?

Thank you so much 👍
This is really beautiful. I love the timbre, tone and richness of the instrument. But my question is related the listener above about “echo.”
Is this recording processed in any way? I hear the enviro 3:06 nment (water) but it seems like a little reverb was possibly added post production. Is that correct? OR is this a pure recording with zero enhancements? Thanks for sharing with all of us. I appreciate learning from you.

That is a wonderful idea ❤❤
Hi 👋

The Universal Language of our Species. Music is so beautiful, it's something we can all understand, it's how the world around us works. It's beautiful.
Very special comment.
Thank you 🙏 😊 ❤
It's really not though.
