My mom immigrated from the Philippines to the US and the moment she set foot in LA, she immediately thought she was back in Manila. After a week or two visiting friends and relatives in Cali, she decided that the place isn't just for her so she went to the Great State of Texas and stayed there up to now....that was 32 years ago when she 1st set foot in Dallas. My younger sister followed her when she was 16 and literally grew up there in her teens to adulthood. Given that, in my younger years it always ponders me on why the heck they always put the lone star flag on their homes and so proud of it. But now, I do understand...I never have the opportunity to move there with my mom because I was serving my own country at that time as a scout ranger of the Philippine army. I have fought the New People's Army(NPA, now considered as a terrorist group with Maoist/Communist ideals) numerous times that I can't count them all with my ten fingers. Now do I understand on why my mom never like California, the political climate in California is literally similar to the NPA that I've spend almost half my life fighting against.
Your understanding of what is happening in CA and how you relate it to your life in the Philippines is a very valuable testimony. I hope you share this information far and wide! I grew up in CA.
Cali now is a shit hole, probably even worse than many cities in 3rd world country at this point. Homeless feces needles and crime are everywhere. Police has stopped reporting crimes to avoid having people fleeing the states in mass. Good choice about Texas.
It’s unaffordable to live in New York and California. The regulation that goes with building new housing have made housing affordable in these blue state.
I'm 5th generation Texan, my family came here about 10 years before the revolution. Many of my family fought in the Texas Revolution, my 4th great grandfather fought in the Battle of San Jacinto, and was part of the detachment that captured Santa Anna.
I could go on lol. There is a little community right near Terrell called Ables Springs, my 4th great uncle James Ables founded the town just before the War Between the States.
J j there’s no factual basis for your assumption. Your comment is very liberal style in the sense that you only use emotion and not facts to come to a conclusion. He could very well be a republican. You don’t know that unless you ask.
Apart from economics. There are a host of other considerations which contribute to preferences and quality of life (QOL) other than just dollars and cents. It's all a tradeoff when you move from let's say, upstate NY to Texas or another southern state.
Dude shut your darn mouth!! Texas is perfect because no one knows the benefits of living here!! Move here like I did from NY but assimilate into the culture. Texas is perfect the way it is, don't try to change it!! By the way Houston is amazing!!
Mia Bella Li I live in Ny but when I get older I want to move I live in the city I was thinking of going upstate ny or Texas or New Hampshire or Colorado but the main two I can’t decide between is Texas and Colorado but if I do go to Texas I want somewhere green I don’t really want to live in the dessert.

Hey guys when I’m older I want to move to Texas but I can’t decide between Houston Dallas San Antonio and Austin and I know Texas is mostly desert but I want somewhere green
I'm from the Northeast a whole Northeast stinks high cost of living housing roads suck that's why I moved to Texas the world's global is big you don't need to be in the s*** hole of the Northeast now to do work
The massive migration of people coming to Texas is dramatically raising property values which is in turn driving up property taxes astronomically. It is literally pushing people out of their they spent 30 years paying for. Yet our salaries are not going up comparably. I may be faced with having to move out of my home due to my property taxes going up over 400% in just the last 5 years. And if you are moving to Texas from a blue state, please don't California our Texas with exhibiting insanity by continuing to vote Democrat who ruined the state you left.
I just got back from my first visit to Texas. Everything is clean! Southern California - unless you live in an upscale neighborhood- is an absolute trash pit.
so much for the economic boom..... that bubble burst in Feb/March.... thanks Covid19..... lots of unemployment now and the jobs that you can find pay very little.... $28K to $35K per year and they want experience and at least a bachelor degree!!

I live in Central Texas coming from the East Coast. I embrace the southern culture. The food scene is awesome.

We may have the land , but, sir, we don't have the WATER to sustain the constant increase in population.
You may be right about that one, hopefully someone smarter than I can remedy that problem!
Plant trees everywhere and a couple desalination plants
Mike Rock we did have trees everywhere until they started chopping them down to cram in suburbs and apartments to fit all of the folks moving in.
Oil company's start buying the water at higher prices, like 8 years ago
Neither does California have enough water
I plan to move to Texas. Are all the city people turning it into a blue state? Wouldnt want to leave a blue state to another blue state
