They took over Austin, my hometown for 38 years. Texans left Austin because the Californians caused houses and taxes to go through the roof. I moved to better place in Texas (I'll never tell).
I think many are just moving to get out of high price rent and the word got out that you can actually afford homes in Texas. No more high rent with homeless living everywhere! Then theres those who own a measles shack that is worth way more than it should. So they sell and go buy a nice big home in texas twice the size with better amenities or just amenities in general! I know people leaving other states than California to head to Texas shortly! CALIFORNIA is just charging way too much for homes and rent is way to high! I wish you Texans luck! I'm just glad I left 20 years ago.
Wait till big tech moves in at greater numbers, increasing property values astronomically where native Texans wont even be able to afford to live there. The new breed will bring their politics, and the people who vote for them in no time. California used to be a Republican stronghold, and not unlike Texas until about the 80's with regard to economics, policies, and a general independent way of life. Once Hollywood became Hollyweird, silicon valley swallowed California's economy whole, and Chinese influence and global industrial trade policies consumed American businesses, California and many other places lost it's shine. Texas is just a place, but a grand place because of the breath of its scope and the independence of its people. Make no mistake, any place no matter how grand can become just another shit show run down part of the country to live in if this California migration trend continues to spread into Texas and other parts of the country.

This is exactly what I just thought. California real estate moguls already know everyone leaving california, so they will run to your state buy up as much real estate as they can and mark the prices up for the newcomers. They do it here, and they will bring their habits to your state. Your future children might have the same problem as california. Too high of rents that average jobs can't pay for. Let's hope your state doesn't have too many regulations so you can build alot of housing to keep the prices affordable.

They act like this just started. I dated a guy in Austin TX backnin 2009 who had made the move from San Diego two years prior. Texas will end up a shit hole too once they all move there.

Too late.. once moved there that property value has increased and will then soon leave neighborhoods too expensive for Texans to afford... it's the rich not Californians or Texans that are the problem

@Alien West dude, that sounds exactly like what's happening here. I live 2 hours South of Toronto (near Niagara Falls). A peaceful small town, very laid back and lots of land. At least it used to be. The housing market was cheap here. Then everyone from the city found out about it and sold their tiny houses in the city for a million dollars and bought mansions down here for $500K, leaving them with no mortgage and a half million spending money. Totally smart move and I can't fault them for it. I have no problem with them buying the houses for that. But now whats happened is since our town is small, doesn't generate a lot of revenue (closest hospital is 30 mins away), so now they're selling all of their land to big developers and making tons of cookie cutter subdivisions and driving out the wildlife, and now the rent went from $700 a month to average of $1300. The houses used to be 1-200K and now it's double or triple that. The people who lived here can't afford to live here. And watching the town get sold to developers is heart breaking.

It won't be much longer until DFW is no better than the major metro areas in CA. Californians are literally saturating, smothering and clogging up the cities in Texas and making them loathsome places to drive/work/live.

Contrary to what Texans think, your state isn't Californians first choice; Californians have been moving to Washington and Oregon (central especially) for many decades and now Idaho is exploding with population growth for the same reasons. Personally, having lived in Texas and Oklahoma earlier in life, I can't choke down 3% property tax in Dallas no matter how much you try and sell the experience to me. My words to anyone thinking about moving to Texas: check the weather and check the property taxes right after you notice how the housing market is so much less. I still remember what snow in the morning and 75° in the afternoon is like and tornado warnings. A great example of how things can go wrong is Bend Oregon, where there's very few professional level job's that support the astronomical housing costs since everyone brought their California money with them, but its a very nice community despite no way to make a living. The same thing will happen to these Texas communities with the best job being a realtor.

The Silicon Valley one was paying twice what the Texas job paid, but the agent told me “sounds crazy but the Texas job even at half the salary is a much better deal than Silicon Valley”. Guess that speaks for itself.
@@Blocphace It speaks volumes actually. A 4 bedroom house in Silicon Valley is 1.6 million vs. 300k in a major Texas city. Gasoline is $4.50 a gallon in Silicon Valley and $2.25 in Texas. Tolls in the Bay Area from the suburbs to SF can be around $10 depending which bridges you take vs. $2.50 on average in Texas. When you factor in the California state tax on top of federal vs. no state income tax in Texas it becomes very clear that the cost of living is outrageous in California for most people. Only those earning very high salaries don't mind.
I highly doubt any agent stated that. Agents job was to pump real estate in Cali at the time, not Texas. Unless you had a rogue agent trying to sell you property in Texas before the hedge funds even started to pump it, which is unlikely as well.

It make the native kinda angry.
Welcome to Bend Oregon, or any number of places in Washington, Idaho or Colorado. Well I’ll say WHY I won’t move to Texas. You all see that open land, yeah, all that open land BELONGS TO SOMEONE! I was born and raised in Texas, lived in a big house with open land around me. The minute I would take my dirt bike into that open land, there was always some neighbor ready to put a stop to my fun and remind me that I was trespassing. California has a lot of open land that belongs to the state. Land for hiking, enjoying your dirt bike in the open desert or just going surfing at a city beach, open land that no one will lecture you that you are trespassing. There is nothing much to do in Texas, it is a very short list compared to California. That’s why if you move to Texas, you better buy yourself a huge beautiful house because you will be spending all your time in there and get ready for any “public improvement development” taxes. People in California are giving the middle finger to state government and their shutdown, law enforcement won’t even enforce many of the laws imposed. I feel I have more freedom in California than I will ever feel In Texas.
Your right about that! Ca has many places to visit. That’s why everybody is moving here. From theme parks, beaches Lakes, National parks, Sight seeing. The list goes in Vegas isn’t that far away either. I visit a few times a year. Years back they’re were people moving from Texas to California 2 of my neighbors are from Texas. A co worker of mine is from is from Texas. 💁♂️
Have fun with the fires burning from Mexican drug cartels farming your open land into hundreds of millions of dollars of marijuana and hope not to run into them in that open land to see them and you not be the authorities because just like an episode of Breaking Bad your life may be in danger. Have fun in a wealthy state that's so greedy that they can't focus on getting that problem solved and money towards it to people who are willing to get it out of there state for a problem that's worsening there and that's just that problem in Cali.
Florida has a single thing going for it: no state income tax...that's it. The list of stupidity that comes along with living their is longer than your arm.
Realtors told me recently, the property values keep going up, if you don't buy a house by this year, you will not be able to find a decent house for the price. It will be like California, $100K will barely get you a shed.
California is turning into a homeless encampment state every city here especially the ones near San Francisco , Oakland and Los Angeles has high number of homeless encampment. Not to mention high crime rate and lots of illegal dumping where where it looks like a scrap yard. Also with high cost of housing where you have to make 6 figures just to afford a single bedroom apartment. School system is a mess where its overcrowded and doesn't have quality education anymore. Exactly! The United States?! Really? Don't hear much unity in these comments!....That being said, California has been doing this to other states for decades. Because houses cost so much here, when people move out of California they can buy bigger houses or 2, for what they pay for a basic house in California. My aunt had a 2 bedroom home with 1 bathroom and bought a 4 bed 2 bath with a swimming pool in Vegas. No mortgage! Now that was in the 90's. Californians exodus for bigger and better in other states drives up housing prices! It's not their fault that they can do it. It is what it is! Politics is politics wherever you go and you can't stop people from voting how they will vote. It's a free country and it's an American right to live and vote where and how you want as individuals. So all this "Don't bring your politics here" is moot and STUPID!
@Melissa Key you’re giving too much credit to “those people” Unless we have some kind of population birth control, people will occupy regardless sooner or later. Stop being scared of something that’s already been happening for years.
As a person who was born and raised in San Diego CA and just moved to TX I can tell you that pretty much everyone I know of that’s from CA that’s moving here is because they DO vote the way TX does and they’re tired of People in CA treating them so poorly and be so against them and making life hell for them out there just because they lean right or have conservative values. Not to mention the taxes and housing keeps going up and up. The juice just isn’t worth the squeeze anymore. I spent my whole adult life being “careful” of what i say around a lot of people, and even friends, because I don’t vote the way they vote or believe the things they believe in. And to be honest, even with all that it was still worth it because CA was worth it. It’s a beautiful place to live with tons of upsides, besides the politics. But now... it’s no longer worth it. It’s run down, the governer is insane and it gets pretty hostile if you think differently. So don’t worry fellow Texans, most everyone that’s moving here are moving because of the way the state votes and governs... And if they don’t... then they just go to Austin or Houston lol Proud to call TX my new home and be around people that think and believe the way I do. I’ve already made awesome friends because of it and It’s really a breath of fresh air and I feel so much happier.
This is the reason why Texas is no longer a decent place to live anymore. It's slowly turning into California, and I am currently making plans to get as far away from here possible. I have family and friends in Albuquerque, Denver, and Phoenix, and over the years they have warned me about the influx of people from California and those cities have changed for the worse.
So this shows rich people moving out of CA to Texas. Show the millions of middle class, working class people wanting to move out of CA and unable to because moving costs a lot of money.
Sadly, this trend is going to continue the cost of living is raising all over the country not just CA and on top of that our population is growing. If you look around for rent & home prices in Dallas, San Antonio, Houston they are not cheap! Also, the traffic is just terrible but this is just inevitable if you have a job in the city.
No dont do this to yourself! These people have very different perspectives, the proofs in the pudding. Just look at they're state. Let's keep Texas to Texan's !!!

What’s even more embarrassing is california is in a drought and has wildfires. Cold and rain is much better. Seattle and Oregon don’t even get cold that often, and Both states are still in a drought.
I live in Texas and I'm honestly torn between wanting to move to Houston because I can find a resort style home out there still under $300k and I'm also looking at living somewhere that's between major cities in Florida by the beach. I'll probably end up getting both and invest everywhere in both states but I'm just split on great weather with beautiful beaches with Florida and the complexity, economy, and diversity that is Texas.

I know people leaving other states than California to head to Texas shortly! CALIFORNIA is just charging way too much for homes and rent is way to high! I wish you Texans luck! I'm just glad I left 20 years ago.
Far left ruined California, Seattle, Portland.

Its still cheap to rich Californians and New Yorkers. They will buy up all the property and leave you with nothing. Just like they did in my hometown.

What's wrong with canada?
And then, Texas turns into California and the people ponder, “What happened?!”

Totally agree. I was born in CA and I hate it. It used to be nice but not anymore. Too many idiots moving to CA.
Cities are turned into a sanctuary cities where illegals, criminals and drug addicts take over. I am sorry to say this but I have been living in California for over 30 years and it has gotten worse. Imagine living in a country where people complain about other people moving in from the same country
Lmfao
No more Democrats please.
And if they don’t... then they just go to Austin or Houston lol
Proud to call TX my new home and be around people that think and believe the way I do. I’ve already made awesome friends because of it and It’s really a breath of fresh air and I feel so much happier.

I used to live in TX and its a very unique state, i liked it.
Thanks for making are housing prices go up, we do not want yall moving here
This exodus has driven up housing like crazy!!! Not good!!! Things are changing and not for the better!!
Can y’all just move to outer space and stay there instead?
