  • This video walks you through doing a basic hem stitch on your weaving. The hem stitch allows you to simply cut your project from the loom when it is complete instead of tying off knots along each end. There are many hem stitches you can learn-this is just a very basic one.

    I enjoy your videos. You are calm, friendly, thoughtful, focused. You use nice contrast so we can see what you are doing and you go slowly and methodically through the processes. I’m just starting my third rigid heddle project. Thank you.

    I'm currently crashing into this craft on a 3d printed loom. I started my first project yesterday and finished it last night. This video helps so much.
    As a knitter, I understand this perfectly. Thanks.

    Very clear directions which I appreciate, and the focus of the camera is great, too. I am just starting a project and needed to review how to hemstitch. I forget the steps so easily!

    Thanks for the tutorial. I was wondering how you choose the colours to the warp, like is it randomly , or do you have a pattern? You always have a great colour choice.

    So, you're going between the same space as the last stitch ended?? If that is so then I think I've got it. I didn't know to use the hemstitch at the beginning. Thanks😊

    Love this! 😍 Excellent focus, yarn contrast, and camera angle... I finally got it! Do you have a video of hemstitching at the other end?

    Very clear demonstration. If I forgot to leave a long tail when I first started weaving my towel is there another way to do this? Can I add yarn and weave the ends in? Thanks, Suzette

    • @thevioletunicornknittingtu8124
      @thevioletunicornknittingtu8124 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Suzette! It’s ideal to do the hem stitch at the beginning before you start rolling your project down, but it can be done after if you get everything held good and tight so that your stitches are even. ☺️

    • @suzetteyoungblood6887
      @suzetteyoungblood6887 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thevioletunicornknittingtu8124 thank for replying so quickly. Since I didn’t leave a long enough tail at the beginning can I either tie on a piece of yarn to the tail I did leave? Or can I use a separate piece of yarn and then weave those ends in? I should’ve watched this before lol

    Can you do a log cabin video?

  • @wilmacneil
    @wilmacneil 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Would you say this is easiest while the piece is still on the loom?

    Could you tell me what kind or size needle you're using? I can't tell in the video

    • @thevioletunicornweaving
      @thevioletunicornweaving  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there! I was using a darning needle for the hem stitch-the same type I use to sew in the ends when knitting.

  • @Angelwool
    @Angelwool 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    What if I didn't leave myself a long enough tail, may I add on more?

    • @thevioletunicornweaving
      @thevioletunicornweaving  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there! It’s ideal to use just one long thread, but if you find you came up short you could weave in your end, weave in the end of the new thread, and then continue on.
