I have to agree unfortunately, the soldering work in this particular vid does not look good at all. The solder looks like blobs dropped on the pads, no flow, the soldering iron is not hot enough and that leads to dry joints, ie: high potential for arcing at those contact points with poor conductivity, weak joints that'll rip off easily with a crash. Sorry to be so critical but that's really bad soldering work.
Yup. Soldering is really bad. A bit or flux, heat the pad, and it would reflow nicely. He could even turn it into a whole video how to fix your little f'ups.
was thinking it couldnt be that bad but the further i got into the video the worse it got, especially the motor wires they are wayy to loose nobody would buy that if you sold it for free
Currently getting into this hobby for the DIY side of it. I build guitar amps, but I can't fly those. I've got a controller and 10 hours in the sim. Videos like this are helpful to figure out what I actually want. My head is spinning looking for the right systems to start with.
I’ve just completed my build of volodor 3.5, now planning for 5 inch 😂. This man’s videos is where I learnt to make my drone and my hobby began with his videos. Big up bro. Sending love from India.
I fly 3.5" most, and my last 5" was a disaster. I would love to get back inte the 5" drones! The old build tutorials was my main insperation for building fpv quads.
This is what makes the fpv hobby one of the best communities ever...(there are some goobers like everything) but helping eachother amd sharing info and build specs and parts making sure to share the joy... so glad i found this hobby. Love your content and you seem like one of those super chill people i wish you were in florida
Never built a drone before Stu and you have presented this in a way that as a newbie I could follow and I am starting to make sense of all the bits and bobs. Lucky me, as a newcomer it seems more streamlined and less complex than a few years ago.
I have a Radiomaster Pocket turning up tomorrow based on your review and recommendation and have recently purchased a flight sim. Got a lot to learn going forward but have watched heaps of your vids and will be building a quad copter down the track. Thanks for all you do and best for the future.
I'm so glad to see you still sticking in there and your budget drone builds are by far my favorite on youtube and been the most helpful to me so thanks dude.
Wow Stu! I didn't realize just how much I missed your content when you were not making it. Soooo glad your back at it, and looking smarter than ever! God bless my man!!
awesome build! I haven't flown for over 6 years but have decided to get back into the hobby, UAVfutures was the first channel I came back to and it's good to see you haven't changed at all! Would love some parts if chosen! if not I am still going to build one in the very near future!! Thanks for catching me up on all that's changed :)
Last full build I did was with a Naze32, then life got in the way and I stopped (yeah its been that long) and just got back into it with a second hand BetaFPV 85X, this build is very tempting!
Oh yes who wouldn’t want some uber smooth walksnail digital on a killer of a freestyle drone! I’ve been loving the radio master pocket since you recommended it, thanks for the good call!
The audio sounds very good. No garage reverb Great build. I would give it a go if I already didn't have too many fpv ships. I usually quickly redo my solder joints by touching with the iron over the joint with some extra flux paste. This ensures that I don't get any cold joints.
Another banger video, just getting started in FPV now. It's been fantastic and frustrating, amazing to learn new tricks and just fly around, frustrating as heck to fail so many times trying new tricks. I watch many creators and gotten so much info but I really just enjoy your vids....I just want to go out and have fun flying, that is what I get from your content. Thank you
Your channel has convinced me to follow an old dream and get into fpv, just bought the walksnail L and a pocket, super excited to start planning out my drone! (and hopefully I win!)
I've always wanted to get into flying drones....building one seems like a lot of fun. I definitely gotta check out the budget builds(so I can learn to fly) then build this one. Thanks for the inspiration and great video.
Looking at this channel for many years. Dreaming of flying one of these drones. After watching UAV F. I have invested in a good controller and training on simulator for years. Highly recommended to start using a sim before going for the real stuff. Happy flying all!
Awsome video, it's great having Aussie made videos and seeing relevant content I've been watching your Channel for years now and as of last week I finally flew for the first time
Hey you pretty much got me into this hobby years ago. Although I haven't built a drone in about 5 years, my son is old enough to start getting into it. I am getting him a Tamiya car kit in a few weeks for his birthday and intend to fit fpv to it later this year. Next year I want him to build his first fpv drone. I want to get back into it with him, if you still have any parts they'd be super helpful for our hobby. Otherwise no worries, still love your vids
I've always appreciated your $99 builds for their value, but it's great to see you step it up and take into account the value of user experience. I'd be extremely lucky to have one of these for my first build!
Awesome video! Sure made me want to build my own Vollador II!!! I guess I just had to put on a like for that wonderfull top-of-the-head footage!!!! ;P Cheers!
Recently built my first drone on a 3.5" AOS frame. Mamba AIO, p1604 motors, TBS 5.8G HV VTX, EP2 rx, 750mah 4s batteries. Went analog for that one because I have analog goggles, but my Walksnail Goggles L should be here soon and would love to have a full size quad for those! Great build!
Thank you for the simulator code. I just started with this hobby and your videos are a great resource. The box of parts would be an awesome jump start.
I’m keen to do a build like this with my son but want him to start on something small like the Mobula 6,7,8. Do you have to buy these complete or does anyone have a recommendation of where to go? Cheers. PS have loved your content for years. Thanks for all that you give to the community. Legend!
Wow, that looks like a sick build. I am somewhat new to flying drones, but have been in the RC hobby for several decades. Piloting FPV drones has been nothing short of amazing. If you haven't decided on who to send those spare parts, I'd love to start this build. Thank you!
I enjoyed watching this. I have flown helicopters and some cheap quadcopter but never tried FPV. I'm a little nervous trying to build these but I'm motivated to try after this video. I challenge you to get your daughter to build one and video it. Then I'll feel ready.
Great vid, I have been flying whoops around to learn flying and gain confidence. Im about to attempt my first build, just need to decide on the video system.
Your build videos have been a huge help from building to repairing,if it wasn’t for your wizard x220 review I probably would have never of gotten into the hobby which btw I got the rtf wizard after that video and still have it and fly it to this day
I lost my quad 1 week a go. Was flying crux 35 and because it was analog, I didn't see a silly tree branch, I've hit it, dizzarmed and fell down but the battery ejected so couldn't use the beeper, neither Turtle mod and spent hours looking for it. Now you got me hooked from your last walksnail googles video and would be cool to build a new one , HD this time and some of those parts in your box could come handy, especially if they build a drone like in this video. Love your content and happy you are supporting the hobby.
have not built a drone in years, everything has changed these days, i need to research half the new stuff just to know what i'm looking at, awesome video stu.
I have built a few drones fixed some as i been flying for a couple years, you should do a part 2 to this showing the set up in beta flight, and binding it to the radio because if people are watching it trying to build their first drone, half of building the quads is the programing and setting them up
DON"T Forget I have a box here of spares for another build. If you need it just watch the whole video and leave a comment about it. I'll randomly pick one of you guys to send it to.
also even if its not the box of parts you win here are some bonus sim codes to redeem on steam too.

Bbbbaaammm Baaaam, i might Build my first own Build. 😅😅😅 @UAVfutures
FYI you might want to give the codes out another way. There are bots that scour platforms for codes and redeems them. Here’s to hoping for some parts!
Haha comment nah love ya work need the parts
comment DROPPED - nah love ya work I’m in the NT previously QLD haha I need the parts it’s rough up here
solder job looks pretty cold tbh

The reason I startede building and flying drones was UAVfutures $99 drone build video. Thank you Stew! You are the best!
Just started my fpv journey. By the time I can build something like this this video will be ancient😂
I have a Radiomaster Pocket turning up tomorrow based on your review and recommendation and have recently purchased a flight sim. Got a lot to learn going forward but have watched heaps of your vids and will be building a quad copter down the track. Thanks for all you do and best for the future.
Your old videos with the Eachine Wizard are what brought me into this hobby, I never got around to building that $99 beauty, but I kept watching!
I'm so glad to see you still sticking in there and your budget drone builds are by far my favorite on youtube and been the most helpful to me so thanks dude.
Love these videos! You really make building drones seem less intimidating. Thanks!
Wow Stu! I didn't realize just how much I missed your content when you were not making it. Soooo glad your back at it, and looking smarter than ever! God bless my man!!
It's good to have an Aussie doing this. I'm just building a Speedybee master v5. Watching your vids are really helping. Thanks lot.
Well, I definitely learned something today :) Thank you Stu for making FPV more accessible to the newcomers!

im new and still learning. im from Malaysia. Getting addicted with fpv.
Thanks for the video. Very informative.
Great practical wisdom on reducing headaches while assembling.
Been watching your videos for a while now and think I will finally pull the trigger to get into the hobby. Really appreciate the doc you created!
Dude, your blowing it up! Been addicted to your vids! Thanks so much for the insight and the education! Free Style for the WIN!!

Fantastic build, i have watched loads of builds, but this one is for me the best. Nice details, you talk very clear and with a good pace. Keep it up.
Always wanted to build myself a freestyle fpv drone, these videos are great motivation for getting one built. Thanks!

You make this look so easy. That was awesome. Im going to go ahead and try to build one. You only live once. 😊
I'm new to FPV, still learning! been having so much fun! Thanks for this video!!!!
Love the tricks with the blu-tack, and with the power cap through the via holes. Very neat. "You're going to learn something today!" 😀
I have been flying this drone on the flight sim. It's a blast.

I've barely learned how to keep my first BNF FPV drone in the air for more than a few seconds, but now I want to build my own.
first drone i built was your $99 build from like 5 years ago. still flying it in 2024
this build plus dji 03 equals LOVE
