The fact that a cloning company can almost make an exact copy of the more expensive knife for a fraction of the price and still make profit is crazy. I’m not again it though. Crap is too expensive today. Who am I to judge someone for wanting to get the real thing but gets a knockoff instead because it’s cheaper. Go for it.

Facts, not everyone can pay what Benchmade is asking and need a cheap knife to use to work with. Honestly, no one owns the design for a knife , so unless materials and markings are exact, who cares. I buy good knives for my collection, and cheap ones for work, because they all break doing what I do, so I'd prefer to break the cheap one.

When I actually opened the knife the blade was marked 154CM and the Butterfly insignia was way too big. The 940 blade was originally made of 154CM but that was 20 years ago. Screw Benchmade. I love the fakes. I have several fake Claymores and like 5 fake Bugouts. Love them all!!! And all of my fakes which I have about 8 or 9, still don’t even come out to the asking price of a Claymore on the Benchmade website ($260). Clone or outright fake, I dont care. Dirtbag here... bugout clones are great for a few reasons.
Same knife, just different steels and plastics used to build it.
It's cheaper by 10 times so if you ruin it a few dollars can replace it.
Fun to sharpen and won't break the bank if you ruin it and need another.
It's entertaining to tell people you have a Benchmade then whip it out and see if they are smart enough to tell the difference and they are identical looking.
The paint used to coat the screws will wear off easier than the real deal but I just need a knife the paint isn't important and the blade has good paint

Dude, if you wanna be a Benchmade fan boy, you go right ahead. If you wanna spend HUNDREDS of dollars for ONE folding pocket knife, go right ahead. I have bought a few fake Benchmade knives that say Benchmade on them, same logo, even try and replicate the box, even have the cloth the knives come in. I have no intention of telling ANYONE they're real. I don't want anyone to think I'm stupid enough to buy the real bullshit. The otf I got was junk, but for 20 bucks, who fuckin cares?? The two automatic knives I got, a mini stimulus and a Claymore tanto are nice as can be for 20 bucks! If I bought a real one, it would never leave the house and never get used. As it is, I carry the Stimulus every day and it's a decent knife. I'd much rather have Tue fake shit anyday bud. ANY DAY. The real scum bags are the people at BM who think it's okay to charge 200-500 bucks for a damn knife. They're name don't mean shit to me. That's all you're paying for. I also have read and heard LOTS of complaints from real Benchmade owners of all kinds of problems. I have several more fake Benchmades on the way. I personally don't give two shits if it "hurts business" for BM. They hurt their own business by up charging their product 1,000 percent what it costs to produce. I'm sorry, but a "bug out," a plastic folding pocket knife does NOT cost 200 bucks to make. They're full of shit, but people but it so they charge it. In a world where groceries are ridiculously expensive, these knife companies are worthless. I swear Benchmade fan boys are even worse than Glock fan boys. It's like they're actually proud to pay, stupid ass prices for their shit. Like they feel like they're better than everyone else because they paid 1,000 times what the product cost to make. Wow. How anyone could defend some rich, way overcharging corporation is beyond me. That's like paying out the ass for groceries and then being a snob about it like they're smarter for paying way more than they should. Benchmade has a PRACTICE butterfly knife, PRACTICE you can't use it for anything except to practice flipping it around. It's 350 fucking DOLLARS!!! I thoroughly enjoy my fakes and can't wait for the new ones to arrive. I just hope others do it too. Go to Wish y'all, they have the cheapest prices.

  • @CoachHuggy
    @CoachHuggy ปีที่แล้ว +4

I have no problem at all with the first one.
Benchmade didn’t create that knife profile (or any of their knife profiles for that matter), and too many people are quick to scream “Benchmade clone” at almost every knife that even slightly resembles a Benchmade (which all resemble countless knives before them).
I wouldn’t necessarily have a problem with the last two if they weren’t using the Benchmade names.
That’s blatant intent to deceive and it’s wrong and it should be stopped.
The fact that the build quality and action of the fake Bugout is so close to the real thing is a bit of an indictment on Benchmade and shows how overpriced their knives really are in my opinion.
If someone can manufacture a knife that is so similar (steel notwithstanding) for a fraction of the price then it says to me that people are paying as much for a cute little butterfly logo as anything else.
That said, I won’t be buying any of these clones, or any Benchmades for that matter.

Honestly there isn’t much of anything proprietary about knives. Benchmades axis lock patent is up, I believe which is why more companies are using it, and you can’t patent blade shapes or handle shapes. Clones are always going to happen especially if anything is made in china. Some companies have to agree on sharing tech when having something made in china and often times things get ripped off and cloned. In this case chances are it’s legal. Less likely to be legal is if a seller says they’re selling a genuine benchmade at a benchmade price and shipping clones.

The long name doesn't really mean much as it's not really just a name. It's the combination of the types of steel, VG-10, 440C or ATS-34. Hardness and/or edge retention MOHS Scale or HCR AKA: Rockwell Hardness Scale. You also have proprietary steel names like Magnacut. It becomes a pain in ur arse, when makers assume those buying their knives will know this. Though, it is true throwing them together can be a warning sign. To identify these, it's a good idea to become familiar with all the different meanings. Most think it's too much trouble but when your dropping $200 plus on a single knife you should damn well better know what your buying. Most scammers are clueless about this and the names make no sense.

not sure how clones are a bad thing or make someone a dirtbag for buying them, they prove how much people are paying for branding and gives people options. blatant counterfeits are scummy, clones is just how the market works. its not that deep

Buy the clone and the real and you will feel the difference I have bought some clones ,bug out and 940 osborne but I give them away I own 25 real Benchmade knives and you will know the difference, a cheap knife to beat up vs paying 300 for the real to beat up ,well ..I'm also a knife collector so sometimes it's just morbid curiosity to see and pissing away 30 bucks on a clone vs drinking it away or worse then gifting it to someone less fortunate and spark there interest in quality stuff????

I normally wouldn't entertain buying a clone. Especially a tool like my EDC knife. But Benchmade has gotten out of pocket with their prices. Id rather 10 clones in 440c(8cmov13 is Chinese version of 440) than 1 mid Benchmade. I have 2 real mini bugouts and a mini grip. And the normal size like alot people. A real Benchmade feels like it's cheaply made cause it is. Id b surprised if it cost Benchmade more $10 to make a model. That's after recouping development cost and paying american worker. S30v steel isn't that expensive. Id imagine it isn't even $1 in material. After a few yrs they should b cheaper. Or come with a offer the buy a exclusive knife at good price. Something. They only offer extended sharpening and service. But hold a $200 bugout and compare to another american made lite weight knife. Like the southern grind spider monkey. U can really see where Benchmade is making us pay for the name not the quality. I'm like that. I don't buy Nike cause of that. If u know anything u know your not getting a real Benchmade for $24. And if u knowledgeable about knives you will know with the action, feel and screws. But the quality is matching

A clone that portrays itself as an original is a fake. Why use the same box and advertisement. If you think a fake is trying to not undermine our economy then buy "cloned" $100.00 dollar bills and tell treasury it's OK.

One of favorite knife designers is Serge Panchenko, and Amazon has straight up shady ass clones right down to the logo of some of his knives. Clones piss me off, it’s one thing to make an obvious copy that’s not the real thing (still shady, but the world sucks) but putting an actual makers mark on a fake makes me want to burn factories down.

  • @nickschroeder8980

Wasn't it Rolex that had the marketing campaign that said "Fake watches are for fake peope." If you don't have money for a Rolex or Benchmade that's fine, then buy something in your price range. There are a ton of affordable options. But you should never buy a counterfeit. If you have any respect for the company you can't afford, then at least buy used.

These sorry youtubers need to stop with the click bait. Like the last guy said a clone is not illegal. Now if they say benchmade then theres a problem. These content makers with no ideas of their own. He copied this same topic from another channel. Do a review do anything originalbut stop with the false flag non sense. Some of us cant afford a real benchmade or might not want to spend thst much on a knife. Maybe we enjoy a cheap lookalike especially if its well made. Stop ruining it for people
