It's so much that these knives are surprising because they're good and inexpensive, it's really that "name brand" knives are so overhyped and overpriced that it skews perspective. Too many knife snobs and people with disposable income and no sense.
You hit the nail on the head. There are music snobs, food sobs, film snobs, book snobs, etc.. Unfortunately, there are also knife snobs, and there are also tons of paid influencers these days.
As a non knife guy who recently went down the rabbit hole trying to upgrade from my trash buck...I also saw the prices and went😲 what your paying for, I think, is the warranty. You're buying a knife for life. As much ad I use my knife...$270 isn't that crazy. And I'm cheap
People get lost in hype of brand and the brand a lot not all the time overcharge because people buy and or lower quality because again people will buy. I play drums and people rather get junk Löw end lines of cymbals from name brand because of name rather than going with a company that make better quality and sound for the same price. One company that’s name brand will have a cymbal that’s pro for 300$ but smaller brand for 150$ for same level. But because it’s not name brand people be like idk if it’s actually good or nope I just want other brand because the hype. So that same person will get junk knowing it’s junk because they can’t afford the pro name brand line. So they rather just get low end line of name brand. All I care about is that is something as good or better for whatever at the cheapest price possible. What’s the best of lowest priced item. I live to find diamonds in the rough. Like what brand can give higher quality vs name. Like this video I don’t let price dictate quality. If you know what quality is then you can find the best at a price point that topically people consider garbage. That another thing people think budget price = cheep junk but not always. Knowledge is power and with power comes great responsibility. Which tea saves money and helps you take the savings to build wealth
@@mrmouse-ol9pw unless your life depends on it that's way too much for a knife. I use a cheap camillus as a daily because I can use it rough and without remorse. A Benchmade I would think twice about doing the things I do with the camillus or my rat
I have absolutely fallen in love with my civivi knives. Mainly because of the bearings and the button lock/release. They’re sooooo smooth and fun to play with. Deep pocket slip too
I would like that Flissa if it had a tip up clip. Thanks for the video. There's a lot of coverage of all the new $40-50 knives, but not many people cover the sub $20 knives. I appreciate seeing them!
Best thing I ever did was buy a decent drill press, some good tin coated drills, taps, and a good tap holder. I've had a couple blades now that I just mirrored the scales/liners clip holes from one side to the other and drilled and tapped for ambidextrous carry. It's extra work, certainly and not for everyone. However for the cost of the knife you could make the case that it's justifiable. Also you could do it with a hand drill if you're slick enough and can be consistently straight. It's nice watching a knife review and being able to say "oh I can fix that otherwise perfect knife"
Some truly great recommendations for us older knife addicts on limited/tight budgets....I see at least a couple of these in my near future..really like the look of that ST144 with the Jade scales//great job as always..thanks.
The Uedger is just a rebranded SanRenMu/Land 801. I purchased one direct from AE and it had the usual good build quality but the heat treat on the steel was absolute baby poop soft. Which by and large you're going to find on these low dollar knives.
I'm impressed with the scales finishing on the first Ganzo. Nicely rounded edges unlike some of theirs from the past that I sanded myself. (But for such a cheap price for all the other quality I kinda enjoy doing it.) If I was a collector or if my Ganzo FB 760 workhorse failed after all these years I'd definitely grab that one. However, I always appreciate the eye candy you serve up Jay. Thanks!
Yeah, I agree with you about the Ganzo. I know what you mean, it's fun to mod the budget stuff and it's not the end of the world if you make a mistake.
For many years I have bought Ganzo Firebird, my current carry is the FH-91 with D2 steel. The quality is fantastic, rugged construction, tight no-play blade lock, perfect centering and finish and the blade is genuine D2. I also love the Flissa fixed blades in full tang D2 at around $24!!!
Ganzo is such a nice budget brand. I really dislike the knife snobs that undermine them. They just need to enter the 14C28N game and they'll be the perfect beater knives.
@@TheKnifeBeater I made the mistake of taking a 80 dollar knife fishing, and yup you guessed it,I lost that sucker. Didn't realize till the next day, these knives are of decent quality and losing 20 is mo betta than 80.Thanks again @TheKnifeBeater I got my eye on the shortie ganzo.
Let us not forgot the steel type is only a big deal if they know how to temper/harden it. If they can't get a consistent HRC up there above 56-62 then your edge retention is null and void. Also I'm the past some of these cheaper budget brands straight up lied about their steel type so just beware .
Thanks for the sub! Welcome to the channel, glad to have ya! I just looked at it and I think it should fit, but you might need to widen one of the holes on the clip. I do it all the time to make them fit.

Hi, Jay. So, you say some of these designs are well made, & with me disagreeing, (& at the chance of me sounding like a total asshole) I would care to see some cuts tests from you to see how you use your knives & different designs. Perhaps learn different cutting techniques. ( I don't mean any disrespect towards your handicapped nature. You very much have my respect.)

My favorite knife review channel on YT hands down. Keep up the great vids!
I recently purchased a sitivien st103. Thus far I've been nothing but impressed. I also have an eafengrow on order and can't wait to try it as well
The EF16 is amazing , love mine.
Great selection ! I have 2 of them, the Firebird Ganzo FH924-CF and the Ganzo G768PT-BK 😎
great knife choices Ganzo Eafengrow and Flissa are all beast bang for buck.
You always provide great options to spending $75- $100 for a knife. Thanks
u bet, thanks
How about an edge retention comparison test on the top 3-5 20$ knives? Do like a cardboard cut test?
Glad to see ya back posting Jay. Hope all is well!

I have bought a few knives on Amazon 2 Kershaw's and 1 Schrade old timer . I'm glad to see that some people are doing research on $20 knives . 😅
Thanks for the video TFB, I'm going to give the ST144 a try.

There are some great $25-30 button lock knives during sales. 14c28n steel. It’s with the extra $5.

I guess it’s called the dragonfly folder
I'll have to check it out, thank you.
They are not perfect. But for this prices, it's cool ..! ^^
Did you get confused. You got 7 knives over $20 on your $20 doller and under list. Great knives for a good price but not why the video was watched.
I made the same mistake. The title should have said $29 and under.
440c is better then D2 in my opinion. It’s stainless.
I like 440C it has way better corrosion resistance, but I think people like D2 because of it's edge retention.
